Booker's averaging 9 and 9 with a PER of 18, while Thad's averaging 13 and 6 with a PER of 19. At this stage we basically got LV for free.

Agreed. But we had enough room to sign Booker outright tho.
Kswiss wrote:Booker is a far better player, but Thad would have been nice off the bench. Still think LV has huge upside

Agreed.

Booker would never have come here if Thad was still here. He wanted to start and that wouldn't have happened if we kept Thad.

I'd definitely start Booker and have Thad come off the bench.

No way that Thad is happy coming off the bench. He had his best statistical season, had a PER of 18 and was the incumbent starter. Booker had a worst statistical season in every category, had a lower PER and wasn't starting at he old team. Bringing in Booker and telling him he was gonna start over Thad just wouldn't have worked and Booker was not coming here if he didn't have a chance to start.

True it might get awkward. But does Thad, who has never won anything in this league, really have such a big ego? He's most suitable to come off the bench and I'm sure Bird wouldn't hesitate to have him come off the bench if they could improve their team getting a starting forward. His rebounding was inflated playing next to Lopez, Booker's would definitely be career high as well. A PF tandem of Booker/Thad would be real good.

Thad is a standup guy... but even if he WOULD have accepted a backup role it makes no sense to keep him:

1) you dont pay backups 13M
2) he doesnt fit this teams identity
3) we need to get younger and get more guys on rookie deals

trading thad was the right move. i still love the trade...what i was pissed with was how marks used the cap space from the deal. I had no faith in booker being more then a scrub. but thats looking alot better so far

Agree with everything except no.1. Guys like Kanter and Turner would be examples of that.

Thad, Bogs and SKil would make a killer bench.

Marks tried with the RFAs, it was a nice try. The caproom is still there the coming summer and next.

Booker has softened my stance on the deal, it just now hinges on what LeVert becomes.

Turner is universally looked at as a really bad contract. kanter not much better... those arent great examples. im sure there are SOME bench guys who get that much... but its usually at a detriment to the team.

for this team id prefer scola/hamilton as reserve bigs over thad. thad is better but we need shooters and size and floor spacers. thad is mroe of just what booker does.

Kanter and Turner are paid closer to 20 mil, 13 is more palatable. Closer to Crawford, Clarkson, Iggy etc.

It's surely better to have Hamilton, he's a stud and he's a center. The 2nd unit has enough shooters, if it's Thad instead of Scola, the defense wouldn't be so bad.

We'll see what those 13 mil's gonna become in the offseason. For this year, having Thad would be nice. But of course, LV if healthy and plays well would be even better.
