"big3" @ barclays

Post#1 » by Prokorov » Mon Jun 26, 2017 12:58 am

was at "big3" today with my cousin at barclays.... wont post results since it airs tomorrow night, but it was alot better then i thought...

its not an NBA game... its an alternative and its entertaning. one thing i think some people will like is that bigmen play a big role and the theee (and 4) arent as common since there isnt much switching or space as you would see with 5 on 5.

some non traditional hal court rules... but they stay true to half court street ball while stilling making it fair to both teams (i.e. no "winner ball"

id encourage people to tune it. it was good... crowd was into it as well

Since you were there...what was the whole "booing for Dloading" thing I heard on Twitter? I'm inclined to go with Adi Joseph's take (salty Lakers fans in attendance)

Yup I was there too, here are my thoughts

Pros:

It was entertaining as hell, with names that bring back fond memories of old. Some nice moves, crossovers, dunks, etc.

The extra space in the half court meant a lot of room for cuts and passes, as well as one on one moves. Meant there was a lot of entertainment

Crowd was into it, and it was definitely for the fans. Streamlined play, short timeouts, etc.

Cons:

Waaaaay too long. They set it up so it's first to 30 for the first half, and first to 60 for the game. Each game on average took 1.5 hours, and it was a quadruple header. I would aim to have each game take 45-60 mins to complete if we're gonna see 4.

A few players ended up injured through the course of the day, which is sad to see but expected given the age

There were some stretches of poor play through some games, which unfortunately is a result of the old age I guess.

Overall, an entertaining day, but I left after the third of four games. I just couldn't last through another one.
