What would have happened during the season if it were Lopez who only played 36 games and Booker 3 games while Lin and Vasquez were almost fully healthy?
Beginning of the season:
Lin/Vasquez
Foye/Bogs
RHJ/JHar
Bennett/CMC
JHam/Scola
One thing for sure: the Lakers trade as it is definitely wouldn't have happened and Brook might still be here.

Nah. Marks would have done a trade to get DAR for Lopez no matter who was healthy amd playing well, imo. Both getting DAR and letting go of Brook make sense for long term

Marks said he wanted to get Russell for awhile.

For the Nets it makes sense, even more sense than otherwise but the Lakers surely wouldn't want to do the same trade. Brook's trade value would be much lower. He wouldn't have the chance to show off his new stretch five status. It might still have happened but then we would have to give up more.
PS* OP was more about the season rather than the offseason.

The trade still would've happened because Lopez is an expiring and they wanted to trade Mosgov to clear cap space next year.
The season itself would've been the same. Instead of cycling guards from the DLeague we would be cycling Big men. Prince Ibeh, Cliff Alexander and Trahson Burrell all would've made appearances in Brooklyn.

I agree a lot of things fell right for Nets in the past year. And also it's a little shocking just how thin the roster was last season.

True, but I don't think Lopez was zero value otherwise. Him being healthy and can shoot three were taken into consideration by the Lakers.

~lol~ ya, and that real slow guy, Mockcevic or something?
With the extra PT would CMC, Bennett and maybe Nicholson be better?
Any chance Kenny is not as good at developing bigs as developing smalls?

The lakers trade would 100% still happen. they didnt trade for lopez the player, they traded for lopez the expiring contract. they got lopez to tank and get cap relief

The expiring is true. But I doubt they're tanking, their pick is only protected 2 to 5. I imagine they might tank if it's 1 to 5 tho. They are trying to win a bit with Lopez and KCP. Lopez being healthy and can shoot threes probably factored into their decision. They might still do it but would ask for more.
*Anyways, OP is more about the season rather than the off season.
