Utah is very defensive minded and just lost Exum for the year. Maybe they want to make a move that gives them more depth for just 1 piece? Send them Whitehead + Booker (maybe Skil too?) for Favors. It would clear the logjam a bit for us and Favors is a few years younger than Booker.

But 2 things I'm not sure about:
1) Long term salary implications having Favors on the books (didn't he just sign an extension too?),
2) How would Favors fit with our style of ball,

I'd rather keep RHJ at PF and have an elite defender on the floor.

If enough things break right, they could bring Cleveland's nightmare to life and outpace every team in this tier. Step one: A revived DeMarre Carroll supplants Rondae Hollis-Jefferson as the starting power forward, and brings much-needed spacing.

Zach Lowe said that Russell would sit bench for Lin, and that DMC would start at PF over RHJ

Both of those assertions were dead wrong.

Favors does help in that it gives the team a big PF to play with who can slide to C instead of being forced to give mins to an ineffective Zeller. Favors cant shoot outside for much, but he does have excellent size. Booker is kinda redundant with RHJs emergence as RHJ provides whatever Booker gives and is younger with potential to improve.

Favors seems to be an expiring and Utah already had Booker before and know all about his weaknesses (lack of size/3pt shot). The question is whether the sweetener in Whitehead is enough to entice them to make the deal to bolster their backcourt (Exum might be out for the shoulder due to injury). Also whether they like Jonas Jerebko enough to think that giving him a good pile at mins at PF is a good idea, and whether they think Booker can help in a playoff push as a starter. Also maybe theyll consider dumping Favors as the season goes on and their playoff chances diminish, might as well grab a future piece (Whitehead) than just wait for Favors to expire as well as give Jerebko a pile of developmental minutes too.

BRK
C - Mozgov, Favors, Zeller, Allen (DLeague or 3rd String if Zeller is poop)
PF- RHJ, Carrol, Favors (if extra size is needed)
SF- Crabbe, Carrol, Levert, Harris
SG- DLo, Levert, Harris
PG- Lin, Dimwiddie, DLo (could use some developmental time)

Yes the roster balances out VERY nicely with the addition of Favors who gives more size and loses out on Booker (redundant) and Whitehead (cant get PT this year at all and by next year likely supplanted by new draft picks).

If the team really wants more wins for THIS season, they can also toss in a protected 2nd round pick to (say 31-35 just in case BRK's season goes to hell).

Different era. Favors as PF is no good nowadays.

If god forbid, both Moz and Jar aren't good, maybe get him as a C. But Book is just perfect as bench big.

Thanks for the honesty.
