oh, i said "skilled big man". if we're talking about who will be the top player when the young guys take over the league officially, my money is kind of leaning towards The Greek Freak.

So what's going to be our plan against opposing skilled centers or will it be a bad matchup auto-loss each time? Didn't seem possible to stop embiid and we'd probably get in early foul trouble every time, which would mess up our rhythm. :-?

Embiid is pretty unique. He's a giant that can shoot 3s with an elite post up game and he gets to the line constantly. Maybe Cousins and Towns can replicate to a degree but those are 4 games of 82 and I think they're a little easier to contain then Embiid to be honest.

I think he's a bad matchup for anyone in the league - I wouldn't worry too much about letting him light us up.

We aren't in a position where we need to worry about stopping particular guys. When we are a good playoff team in 3 years time, then we can worry about brining in an Embiid, Davis, KAT stopper (if Allen hasn't already developed into one).

I agree that Embiid was getting every call. I don't know what it is that leads to such favorable treatment.

I suspect it's cuz they don't want him to get injured again. It's kinda understandable, he could be THE best player in the league and could make the league a lot of money.

But still, just let him rest? It's pretty unfair

Embiid is a talented player but he's not the best player yet. You still have AD and Boogie is good too when he doesn't let his emotions get the better of him. Not sure he's there defensively, AD seems a lot better. And there's KAT who is a monster player.

I'm not saying he is or will be the best player, I'm just saying he has the potential to be it in the future.

He's gotta stay healthy first

That's because we had Quincy Acy trying to guard him when Jarrett Allen was ready and willing.

I don't mind small ball, but within reason.

I know. I didn't think you were saying he was the best now. Assuming he could stay healthy, I was thinking of who he'd have to beat out. I'm not sure he's more talented than they are. He can be a top 5 or so player, just not sure with who he is up again he can be the top.

We could also swarm with double teams/fronting if necessary. I didn't see that level of urgency guarding Embiid, probably since this was preseason.

I like Allen a lot but the way Willy Hernangomez was pushing him around tells me he's not physically ready for that type of challenge yet. We'll see though. The post up big is becoming trendy off the bench, he'll have plenty of chances during the year.

Cool. Physically, they are all super gifted. What might set Embiid apart, is on the mental side, his killer instinct. Of course, maybe his mental killer instinct is too strong that he is killing his physical body.

He reminds me of:
