Jameer Nelson
He cleared waivers should Brooklyn scoop him up? I think they could use a point guard they'll get a chance to add another player due to injury.

Unless injuries pile up quickly, I don't think they'll consider adding a vet guard like Nelson for another couple months. If the need comes up they have 2 inactive guards in Whitehead and Kilpatrick who they'll give a shot in the rotation before going external.
If they use the disabled player exception I think it's more likely for a front court player or pure cap dump attached to a future pick. Zeller is pretty clearly the first guy cut if they need to do so.

They need another center that was clear in pre season. Who is available though?
Whitehead isn't a point guard he was DNP last night again.

Whitehead is probably no worse than Nelson and certainly a better defender with better positional versatility.
If there's one thing this team had and still has, it's guard depth. We need a center who can actually play some solid minutes, that's really it, aside from internal growth or a blockbuster trade that makes sense.

Jameer is good enough to help us but this is why we have Whitehead and Kilpatrick. Dinwiddie is ready for full-time back up minutes.

My initial reaction to the injury was "Well here comes Whitehead's minutes"
But then I realized, with Lin in particular, its not as easy as going to the next guy down in the depth chart. Lin wasn't just playing a position, he was playing a role.
Whitehead and Kilpatrick don't even have a combined 5 years under their belt. Nelson is a 13 year veteran and a former All-star. The reason you bring in Nelson is the same reason Foye started 40 games last year. He's a veteran ball handler that you can run out there with the young guys. Dinwiddie, Skil, Whitehead, LeVert, Harris, Crabbe... All these guys that can step in and take Lins minutes...They can't step in and take his role. Dinwiddie might be able to come in and put up 12/3/3 off the bench but he can't keep the offense is check when things start to fall apart. Neither can Russell.
Nelson is a foye like move, but He's better than foye. Both on the court and as a Veteran Presence. Former All-star, has Finals experience, and almost 15 years in the nba.
Yeah we still need a Center, but I think adding a Veteran guard who you can start alongside DLo for 20 mpg (give Dinwiddie starter mins coming off the bench) is a necessary move with Lin out.

And Nelson went to NO.
Told you guys we're going to be in market for a Vet PG. A Foye reunion wouldn't shock me either.

I get where you're coming from and the front office may agree but this team is different from the one last year. We already have 2 vets in the starting lineup + our young guys actually have NBA experience. Last year our guards were Whitehead, a less experienced Dinwiddie, Kilpatrick and Joe Harris basically.
Russell and Crabbe have a lot to learn but they're legit NBA players who have a good amount of minutes under their belt. I don't think we need another vet until Russell and Dinwiddie prove they can't handle running the team.

Mosgov and Carroll aren't ball handlers. Like I said before, you need a veteran guard to run the offense alongside DLo. Somebody to keep DLo from getting in over his head, and somebody who can step up and change the momentum in a game by doing the little things. Plus its a good way to make sure DLo doesn't develop any bad habits on the court (like playing hero ball to get back into a game instead of making plays)
I think we'll see a move for a vet PG before the end of the month. Beno Udrih or Randy Foye.

He was in street clothes. I think he is still on the inactive list? Can he play Gleague?

The disabled player exception is used on a player that can't play but they need a roster spot to add a new guy. That needs to change next year but for Now it makes more sense to use it in a trade to get someone. Noel, another point guard? When Afro Samurai is ready maybe they add 2 players.

I'd love Noel but something tells me that Cuban wouldn't be eager to deal with the Nets considering the initial competition over D-Will during his free agency and the mini-Cuban vs. Proky feud a few years ago. While I don't think we're on the Mavs top 3 most hated teams list, I don't think Cuban would do anything to help the Nets, if he felt that he was giving away a potential positive asset.
Don't get me wrong...I'd hope the Mavs would forget about the past and would trade him to us over a Western conference rival. The much needed size, increased versatility, athleticism, and outstanding BBIQ would benefit us so much more than his lack of a dynamic offensive game would hurt us.

Should be okay to lock since he's signing with NOP.
