Couldn't be happier with the draft. 29 and 40 are long shots. We picked up 2 young Euro guys who slipped due to contract situations. Both guys look like very legit shooters. Both are 6'8-6'9. Love the thinking behind both picks.

Musa - they said teams would have taken him higher but they wanted to stash him overseas whereas he wants to be in the US.

Marks may have done it again with finding lottery level value with late 1st rd picks.

I trust Marks with talent evaluations more than anything. Just excited to see him with actual lotto picks.

The way I read Sean Marks statements on WFAN today ( see https://wfan.radio.com/articles/news/sean-marks-wfan-nets-were-very-close-trading-draft)
Is that they were very close to moving up, but they were asked to pull the trigger before they knew who would be available. And they decided to pass because of that.
When he was asked if he was considering trading up into the teens, Marks admitted it was "right around there."
"You're trying to figure out is the cost to trade up worth it," Marks said. "And like most teams, you want to do it on the clock because you're thinking: 'Is my guy there? Is my target there? And what's it going to cost to get there?'
"So at that point, we didn't feel like it was worth it. We weren't ready to give away the asking price. And at the same time, these two guys -- Rodi (second-round pick Rodions Kurucs) and Dzanan -- we'd been targeting, so we're definitely glad to have them in our family."
I wonder if they had a chance to get the Suns pick at 16, the one that the Suns eventually swapped with the 76ers for the 76ers 10th pick. So because the Suns had to act before the 10th pick, the Nets would have had to agree to the deal before they had any idea whether their target would be on the board at 16.
Suns had 3 other picks in draft (which became Ayton, Okobo, and King) and had to give up 2021 Miami first rounder as part of the deal with Sixers. So would not be surprised if they would have been interested in other offers.
Just wild conjecturing of course

To me, it's a huge relief that we landed Musa without having to trade up. Prior to the draft, I had the feeling he was our guy, and it seemed like a sure thing we'd move up for him since the FO apparently viewed him as a lottery talent. He's a real boom-or-bust prospect, so the idea of giving up assets to take him was a bit frightening. Couldn't have worked out any better.
