The CLV/Allen tandem is special if allowed to develop. I hope KA at least gives it a chance to grow. Maybe start CLV or at least have him play many minutes with Allen. I also think CLV/Ed Davis can be a strong tandem as well, but that's for the now. For the long-term, I hope CLV gets to play with Allen a lot. I don't know about star, but I think RHJ and CLV are going to be big impact players. Theoretically D'Angelo can be a star, we'll see how things go next season and hope for his health to hold up.

LeVert is a role player in my opinion. He can defintely become a nice piece in a playoff contending team, but he'd be a sixth man. Davis is a character guy, his value on the court is as valuable as his locker-room presence. When your former team's star player gives you nothing but the highest praise on your way out, that means you're a great guy/great person to play with. I don't think Plumlee got that when he was sent to the Nuggs. The Nets aren't about winning, so all these young guys will get to develop. The smart guys are running the show, not the charasmatic ones. Emphasis on DLo and Allen, but everyone will get their chance.

And also, what a nightmare from an organizational perspective, if they didn't trade Lin. If a healthy Lin gets you an 8 seed, you finally get your picks back, and you're out of the lottery? That would be incredibly dotard-ish.

Unless getting to playoffs convinces two top FAs to sign.. I know that’s long shot. But I do not think Marks is in tank mode.either. They’re not going to lose sleep if Nets have bad record but I don’t think they’re hoping for that either.

Yeah, it's probably just wishful thinking. Either way, everyone gets better in this situation. Trae Young gets a player coach (for ATL), and the Nets get more assets, Lin gets another opportunity with another team, what's not to like?

Exactly. Lin gets breathing room and a space for himself to figure things out. the Nets gained a 1st round pick and cap room. both sides played hard.

This is sort of like when I bought a 6 year old Audi A6 from my sister. When I got the car, it began falling apart. Suddenly major issues started piling up, and I had to get rid of it. When the car was in an optimal state, it was an incredibly fun car to drive, but when it was just draining my wallet and constantly in the shop, I hated that car.

To the Lin fans, we had Linsanity, Houston was good, LA was bad basketball, and then Jeremy balled in Charlotte. Looking like a star, every time Kemba or Batum was a DNP. Lots of hopes in Brooklyn, but the guy couldn't stay healthy. For me, there's a remote posibility he could lead this crew to an 8 seed, if he returns to the guy in Charlotte. My sister still thinks that car was great. I have the opposite opinion. We just saw different sides of the same coin, and thus have different expectations.

I think the injury more than his age is the issue. Kemba was a DNP only one time. Batum and Lin never were out the same game. Lin did a mostly great job of covering for Batum, but that was 2 years ago, pre injury-plagued Nets era Lin.

His age compounds the issue. suffering a catastrophic injury at age 29 is not a good thing. by the time he is in hawks training camp, he will be 30. life gets easier from a mental standpoint for most from 30 years old. however, physically, your body will betray you. this is why George Benard Shaw said that “Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.”.

The Nets will need to show something this year in the wins column to draw free agents

I don't know Faried or Arthur. But a veteran doesn't equal leader. Mozgov would be an example of that, IMO. Lin's gone now, and my opinion stands regardless of how much you always want to talk down Lin's leadership or impact on winning. I think you're very wrong about both.

I'm not talking down Lin leadership. i think Lin was a good leader/mentor/teammate/influence.

My point was, we wont miss those things because we have other veteran leaders. Carroll for on is a great leader/mentor himself and did a great job last year (lin spent alot of time away from the team while rehabbing). Faried is like booker 2.0, one of the real good guys and hard workers in the league, his teammates ahve all said the same thigns about him the guys here are saying about lin upon his departure. Nuggets fans called arthur the heart of that team.

Add to that the coaches and marks, i dont think w e will miss lins leadership, and that sint to knock Lin, but to praise what we have
