Nets don't win this game tonight without that 3rd banana. I dunno why he can't be given proper credit.
Well if our goal is to build a capped out treadmill team, sure let's keep this core with Russell as our #1.

Who's not giving him credit?

I'm just not looking at this today. Or next month. Or month after. This is about the long-term prospect of this team.

And Russell isn't taking this team anywhere past 2nd round unless he's #2 behind a top-5 MVP level #1 or he's the great third option.

Mike Conley has been a very good player. Maybe even great player. But he has been the best if not 2nd best paired with Gasol.

And after all that, what has that done for the Grizzlies? Have they ever been considered a legit contender? Nice good team, maybe really dangerous one year or two. But in the age of the Heatles and Big threes and GSW, it's just not enough.

And Conley is on another level than Russell.

I don't want the Grizzlies. My goal and hope for this team is to be greater than that. Now, if that ultimately what this team ends up becoming? Fine. But until the door is closed for us to be a championship caliber team, I'm going to continually look at moves that will get us there.

who said anything about Russell being a long term #1 option?

Answer: no one did.

Your post is exactly my point. Russell is so over criticized. back to back 20/10 games in wins and instead of getting any kind of credit it is "well its not about today its about long term future"

Levert has a good game its a gizz fest
Dinwiddie has a good game its a gizz fest
Dlo has a good game and its "blah blah not a #1 1, blah blah about the future"

This. If LeVert dropped back to back 20/10 games this board would be tripping balls calling him an all star in the making.

Russell does it, it's "ho hum " the dude will never win with fans like these.

Yeah because Levert showed in his stretch legit attributes of being a #1...being able to get a shot against just about anyone.

I don't know what you two don't understand. I'm done, since there's no reason arguing it anymore. You guys project the few biased posters on everyone, even those who have valid criticisms.

You guys keep talking about how "Russell can't get credit". Again, point out how where I didn't give him credit?

I've always given Russell credit when he deserves it, while at the same time throwing a caveat based on future projections.

May I remind you two that while both of you were LOSING your ABSOLUTE **** on Russell for the no-look pass/turnover vs Pelicans that I was the lone person here DEFENDING him on that play?

Well said this is how I look at the team as well. We're playing .500 ball right now and as the coach and gm say a long ways from where they want to be. I don't want a mediocore team.

If you're playing .500 ball now with what I believe was reported the youngest starting lineup in the league (pre-RHJ injury), a 20yo starting C and a 22yo starting PG, we'll be better than mediocre in 3 years without any additions.

I'm not opposed to bringing Rhondae back just at a discount they could upgrade. Other than that they're ok for now.
I got the burner-Kevin Durant

Cream rises to the top-Nic Claxton
