He had a midrange shot last year. It seemed near automatic. Idk what happened to him. He cut his hair, and like Samson, lost all of his ability.

Is it me or does he look smaller than last year? Doesn't seem to be carrying as much bulk... Regardless I think I'd still throw him out there over Treveon Graham at this point

IIRC, he looked noticeably bigger going from 2016-17 to 2017-18.

I haven’t been able to watch as many games this year and RHJ hasn’t been playing as much so I can’t say for sure if he’s smaller this year as compared to last year.

He looks bigger to me.

he also has lost whatever he had going for him last year. the automatic mid range J, the finishing through contact on drives, decent FT ability...all of it just gone. It's inexplicable how all of these tools just disappeared.

its not that its gone, its that we have too much good offense for us to allow him the freedom to do that.... last year russell was a shell of what he is now, levelrt was a shell of what he was to start the year. harris wasnt the guy he is now. Allen barely played early on. there was no ed davis. there was no napier... there was no kurucs. Lin went down like day 1.

our early starting lineup looked like

Dinwiddie, crabbe, RHJ, Carroll, Mozgov

and it didnt change much as the year went on until allen came in. there was just alot more offense to go to RHJ and we needed him and everyone to be over aggressive offensively especially if crabbe or dinwiddie werent on.

now? we have Russell who is a lock for 20 a night. dinwiddie and levert who are going to give you double digits every night. Carroll who is going to give you close to double digits with high teens games sprinkled in. Allen is good for 12 a night. kurucs is good for double digits. Harris is good for low teens. Crabbe is going to give you points and when he gets hot give you some outbursts...

even beyond that graham and dudley shooting corner and wing threes is prefered offense to RHJ midrange and open court end to end takes.

the needs for what RHJ does drastically got reduced

It doesn’t matter what the rest of his season has looked like. After last night, you gotta give Rondae the max. But seriously, what a quarter from RHJ. As Dlo said, “The heart and soul of this team.” They gotta keep him around next year for the minimum. He’s your 3rd string 4/5 unless he proves otherwise.

I’ve said all along that RHJ should be in the rotation I’m proud of my guy.

You have got to applaud RHJ's preparation and professionalism. Dude hasn't played in a minute and he becomes the anchor in an improbable comeback. You never see him sulking on the bench or distant from the team, he's always engaged and cheering on his teammates and when the coach called his number his was ready. I hope this is the start of a bounce back for him to end the season on

yup... props to him... but also to kenny.

we have seen the same from Crabbe, Russell, Napier, Levert, Dudley.... pulled from games, from the rotation but always ready to play and always team first. thats coaching and culture. props to marks too, he had a big hand in this

as far as the future, if you can use an exception to keep rondae or if you strike out in FA and can bring him in without killing future cap you do it, and maybe they find a way. but cant let him cost us tobias or kawhi if they want in

Unless another team offers him ridiculous money, I don't see why he wouldn't just let the Nets see if they can sign a big free agent or two, give DLo his contract, and then go over the cap if need be to sign him to lowish contract.

I think we value RHJ more than other teams would, but we still shouldn't overpay just because we like him.

we cant go over the cap to sign him... here is the issue:

-To get enough for 1 Max or Near max we need to renounce him. we need to renounce him to get over 20 million in cap
-Once we renounce him, we cant go over the cap to sign him

we would need to use an exception, like the room exception to bring him back in that scenario

I wasn't aware that the situation was that dire. When writing my post I did wonder if we could use an exception to sign him but I thought that was reserved for free agents from other teams.

I guess what you're saying is that if he's renounced, he's treated like all other free agents. We can then use an exception to bring him back, right?

Exactly... once we renounce him (to remove his 7.5 million cap hold ) he basically becomes like any other free agent from another team. we could then use an exception on him... but they may opt to use the exception on carroll instead?

it will be dicey if we sign a max guy with what happens to everyone else
