Yup. Don’t forget Tyler Johnson and Montiejiunas as well. Neither were as bad as those you mentioned but they wouldn’t have been good moves in the end.

you could throw in bazemore too... nto an RFA but marks offered him 4/76 reportedly but he turned us down for ATL

thank god

As time has gone on, I've gotten more attached to DLo. I was prepared to essentially swap him for Kyrie, but the age difference is so huge, and Kyrie is such a locker room buzzkill. DLo really wants to play here. I also think it might throw a wrench in the way that the Nets portray themselves - as a family, everyone in together in Brooklyn, a real team. That's what Marks and Kenny talk about, what the players rave about. But to say that, then ignore your home-grown superstar in the making for a big name with zero connection to our team + bad chemistry just ignores all of that.

I don't think we're going to get Kawhi - I think he meets with us because he respects Marks, but I am like, 60% sure he's returning to Toronto, 35% he's going to the Clips, 5% something else. I think we will have a shot at KD, but he's already in his 30s, has a very serious injury. I'm sure he's going to be great when he comes back, but there is a very legitimate scenario where he isn't a superstar. He might still be good, but we'd be paying him like a superstar.

I would like Tobias Harris, but I don't think he's quite worth a max deal. If he's the best player on your team (or even 2nd) you're not a Finals contender. He's a nice 3rd piece, and a great 4th.

He definitely has a connection to this team.

We're getting KD an Kyrie, get over it bro.

Harris really isn't a great 4th piece at all, his production dipped on the Sixers because all he did is stand around and watch Ben dribble. He'd be a fantastic 2nd or 3rd option in the Nets system.

I really disagree with the idea that letting DLo go is going against our culture. We take care of our guys. We keep guys healthy. We make them better. All of that is still true. DLo had the best season of his career. The team believed in him 100% even when he was being outplayed by Spencer Dinwiddie. He went from being a guy that even the most optimistic DLo fan thought would get signed below his cap hold to a guy that has an outside chance at getting the full max. DLo may have some hard feelings but he can't deny that we definitely took care of him.

Sean Marks is still in the business of trying to make the team better. There's been turnover every year. Some guys have been great locker room guys. Some guys haven't.

I don't think Kyrie is this anti-Net kind of player. His actual game is kind of like Russell's game but on steroids. Off the court, he's been in some real tense situations. Those LBJ led Cav teams were always on the brink of combusting. Every single year LBJ stirred the pot until the team was at make or break. This most recent Celtic team had extremely high expectations with 3 young guys trying to make all star leaps + 1 former all star trying to get his game back + emotional guys like Morris/Smart. He didn't handle it well but that was a delicate situation that Brad Stevens wasn't ready for.

I'm only speaking for myself right now but since I've been following comment sections on different blogs, my conclusion came to one thing. Can our FO and Kenny handle Kyrie and KD. It'll be interesting to see how our culture will robe on them and if they'll buy in.other than that there is no denying that they top talents in NBA and proven winners if situation is right.

I really think they can.

I think the culture stuff sounds cute when you're just talking about a team playing hard every night. Not all teams do it but a lot of teams play hard. The Nets are different. They have most of the team working out together in the summer. A huge coaching staff for player development. A huge team specifically devoted to keep guys healthy. Kenny and Marks are transparent about everyone's role. Kenny is willing to experiment and be creative. A lot of that isn't common around the league.

I think the culture is very real.

If all else fails, Kyrie will be on his best behavior knowing that he chose the Nets and he can't burn bridges on a 3rd team without REALLY killing his rep

Russell's merchandise are officially 50% off.

I've been a tough critic of him, but damn if it isn't bittersweet letting him go (especially if the rumor is that he's going back to that trash team in LA)
