the thing with Melo is he would need to buy in to being a spot up shooter and work hard of ball. he would also need to sacrafice his post game, a big part of his game. i also dont like he would be taking the ball out of spencers hands off the bench a bit

I mean it's not a horrible idea, Melo has been in the gym since he's been out the league and I know he's been working on his 3 daily. He might be our stretch 4 and another 3 pt specialist we can use, but he can also do a little other things scoring.

Yeah I guess it just depends if he's willing to have a reduced role. He could be useful in the playoffs and such this year with KD out. I want Prince and Rodi to get plenty minutes at the 4 though to develop out. I see Prince having a very good year.

Kurucs and Prince are interchangeable between the 3 and the 4, so Melo being here doesn’t take anything away from them getting minutes.

We don't know exactly what's happening...the media could be framing this as Kyrie and KD are "pushing" Marks to do something when in reality it could be them just saying hey what do you guys think about Melo? Context matters, and we aren't privy to the discussions. Do I think Kyrie and Durant are in Sean's office every day lobbying for Melo? No. I think someone heard something and the media is running with it.

This is unfortunately the downside of having two stars on our team now. Narratives will start to be created whether they are true or not.

I am not against Melo coming here but I don't want the Nets to start having drama issues.

That said, it's hard to remember the last time this kind of unneeded drama happened with the team, even if it's mostly just perception. I've particularly loved the Nets unity during the Marks years, and if this kind of thing is going to be happening more often, just... ugh. Please, no.

i think you can get 75-100% of melo with another veteran who would be more willing and acceptable of a role

yeah. Melo doesnt want to mess up those career averages. He'd be a nuisance the moment he doesnt get the play time he wants.
