Ooh yes, a new film study just came out, courtesy of Mssr. Brooks. The clips are beautifully high quality, btw.

Lots of examples there demonstrating that much of the poor defense isn't about lack of talent, but about indifferent effort, and stuff like that there.

and we've got a Kyrie.

We need to clean up the turnovers, clean up the FTs, make our open looks, continue to rebound on both ends and push the rock. our transition offense has been solid. I like where we're headed.

they are better then only the knicks maybe. that team isnt what they were. they lost a TON. Collison/Bogs/Young. that was the heart of that team. It shouldnt matter they are hungry for a win. this is a team we should handle at home

Lol You really hate the Pacers, huh? You’re right, though.

The Pacers are a winnable game at home if we execute sharp like we’ve done in spurts but they are still the perfect team to blow a lead against. We have to see if Prince can guard Sabonis effectively.

Houston and Detroit will be big barometer games defensively. Then, New Orleans should also be a game we should win but we are ultimately looking at 4 upcoming games that could go down to the wire even if our defense vastly improves. All those teams pose some matchup problems.

people underestimate what the pacers lost. yeah turner is still an ace defensively and they added brogdon but the core and heart of that team is gone. Collison was a huge part of their defensive success being able to pair him with oladipo and while brogdon can shot he isnt the shot creator bogs is. they also lost depth having t move sabonis into youngs role.

they are a very beatable team who likely took a step back to the pistons/magic/wiz level

Levert really struggles around screens. its more pronounced in the pick and roll. not sure if he is skittish because of past injuries but he just doesnt fight through or get through quick. he has all the tools to be an average or plus defender. i think its correctable.

Prince and DAJ it seems like focus or fatigue. Nwaba just probably needs more court time.

i think play alot more zone like last year and just tighten up the focus. Maybe shorten rotations until guys get their seas legs

beyond that, just not smart D. when your up 3 under a minute concede the 2 a bit so you dont have to worry about giving up a 3.

Sounds right on to me. I'd love to get any kind of inside info possible regarding how Kenny and staff respond to all this, particularly with the two day break the team's enjoying.

Like, how much do they increase film sessions and/or go through extra drills on the court? And with the full staff the Nets have, does Kenny assign one of the coaches to work on this stuff exclusively with people like Joe & Caris?

OTOH, does Kenny decide something like "I'm sure they already know what they did wrong, and I'll give them extra leash on this, partly to help get over the China trip, but also to figure this stuff out on their own." Because that's something he's done in the past. I mean if you have the right attitudes and personalities, I could see that working, too.

Not to mention, I wonder how much Kyrie and KD chime in at times like these, as veteran players?

This stuff can be almost more fascinating than the actual games, and it seems like we're always starving for this kind of insider stuff...

We have a huge staff, id assume there is alot of 1 on 1 stuff with players and coaches. kenny probably addressing it from a higher more broad view.

Kenny certainly has a way with words. Dude has come along way from being shy to speak to media.

Skeptics of the "Nets Way" should consider Harris -- who went from an unreliable reserve his first season in Brooklyn to leading the league in 3-point shooting percentage last season. Those results led to a two-year, $16 million deal in 2018. Atkinson points to Harris as an example of a player being transformed by the Nets' culture.

“Joe sucked when he got here," Atkinson says. "He couldn't stop turning the ball over. No one was screaming back then, 'Oh, we knew within a couple of weeks that Joe Harris was an NBA player, let's give him $10 million.' If anyone says that, they're full of s---."
