I'd like to see Kurucs start more and bring Prince off the bench. Kurucs was very good starting last year and seems like a guy better suited for it. He doesn't seem as focused coming off the bench.

Also agree on the Kurucs front. I think he is better suited to start but I think Kenny is going to keep Prince starting unfortunately...

I’ve been saying this. Kurucs is better as a starter.

Start Kurucs, sit Temple

Prince i see is becoming this year scape goat. guy is a great fit and a big plus. he just isnt supposed to be a go to scorer

He's on a really bad stretch. I agree we've been too hard on him but maybe bringing him off the bench might change things up.

and its working

He may indeed have tired legs, but that's not my point or the definition of hitting a wall. It's not only intrinsic, it's also extrinsic as you are describing. Hitting a wall can mean that a new wrinkle in how teams defend you stymies your ability to excel.

I agree with the rest of your statement as well, teams are realizing that "cutting off the head" doesn't affect our system. Our triple of threat of playmakers are too good at breaking down a defense. The real way to stop us is to stay home defensively and smother the bigs. This limits 2nd-chance points and wide-open 3's, at the expense of additional opportunities at the rim for our guards. We miss a coupla bunnies, they leak out for transition 3's, and pretty soon we're climbing uphill.

I love how differently we can view the same thing!

I disagree with sitting Temple, assuming he is fully fit. His contributions go way beyond the box score, he makes us a more cohesive team on both ends. He plays better with better players around him, and our starters' on/off numbers look dominant when he's on the floor.

I do agree though on starting Kurucs, he's getting his mojo back and I'm elated. Prince has indeed been a somewhat unfair target, though he has earned some criticism for god-awful plays that no one should make, no matter how much you upscale their usage. I think he needs break, if for no other reason than a mental reset. He's firing blanks, and I'm not just talking about shooting.

Prince plays better when his role is simple. Catch and shoot threes, the occasional pull up jumper, and running the floor is all he should be doing.

Kurucs should be getting more burn and be a starter, off season incident really hurt his rep

This is what annoyed me about Rodi completely disappearing to start this year. Last night he shot 3 for 10 - 8 points. Yet everyone is happy with how he played. That's how much he can impact the game when he plays with energy and doesn't make dumb decisions. He needs to play more.

Musa also played really well in the 2nd half. Loved his energy. The guy took a charge from Boban. Attacked the rim on and off the ball with cuts. Made some really good passes. His defense (outside of the zone confusion in the 1st half) was really solid. He finally hit those deep 3s he's been shooting all year. Wouldn't mind seeing him get some more burn. Just 1 game but definitely one where you could see why he was a potential lottery pick type talent.

Also, Dinwiddie was seriously super frustrated and angry yesterday. More so than usual.

I noticed it as well. I think his 2 pet peeves were in full effect: better opponent (Doncic) getting borderline foul calls that he can't draw, and having to guard waterbugs (Barea).

i dont think Rodi sitting was a pure basketball decision. i also think he probably missed alot of practice time and was distracted

Musa looked fantastic last night on both ends. I wish he could capture that play in a bottle, because that's how we need him to do it. Hit his open threes, made his lay ups. Best he's looked yet.

Spencer was frustrated but there wasn't much we could do. Doncic is a legit top 5 player in the sport, once he came back in the game we were finished.

I doubt it hurt his rep very much amongst the team, which is the important thing. He got his burn early in the season and just didn't play smart, effective ball. Understandable that he had the yips of course, but AFAIK the team stood behind him as a whole.

MGrand15 wrote:He finally hit those deep 3s he's been shooting all year.

Not trying to cherry pick that one point, but I don't understand why he's still taking those, or why they would be a good idea. He can probably take those whenever he wants, and even if he was firing like a 3pt shooter of average efficiency, it would still be more wasteful than not.

But I guess that's just some real faith in him by the coaching staff, trying to get him untracked via one of his pet moves. *shrug*

I've been saying this about Musa, but I noticed throughout last year in LI he was very comfortable shooting that deep three 2-3 feet behind the arc and shot it with pretty good success in the Gleague 36%. If you notice on the first one he hit the other night on the kick out from Pinson instead of spotting up right at the line, he lifted and setup 2-3 feet behind the line for the shot.

Biggest difference I saw in Musa after spending a couple weeks on the bench was him cutting without the ball. Instead of staying camped out at the 3 point line he was making off ball cuts, plus the one fast break getting up the court with TLC. He also didn't look as frantic out there like he looked before. It was his best game because it was the first game where things seemed to slow down for him. The confidence will always be there, like at the end of the 3rd QTR where the ball would be in Spences hands 99% of the time, Musa took it on the P/R and attacked Boban.

Also loved the way Rodi played!!! Dude was all over the glass, the floor, and seemed to be everywhere getting his hands on loose balls.
