I just don't get how Rodi only plays 12 minutes today. He was out there guarding Augustine today. He can play 2 through 4. How do you not find more minutes for him? It's not like anyone else was playing well.
JA showed more energy and effort today but he's just not an impact player right now. We badly need him to turn it around and he seems to be going in the opposite direction.
Sad to watch the team right now. You could tell the players knew it was over when Fultz put them up 6 or something with 4 minutes to go. No spirit. No fight in the guys right now. Dinwiddie and Joe are running out of gas from being option 1 and 2. Everyone else is struggling.
LeVert needs to start. After almost 400 minutes, our starting lineup is back to being about even in net rtg. Spencer being the lone ball handler is looking worse every single day. Start them both. Use Temple as the backup point. We need all the fire power possible.

Kyrie could come back 100% healthy, and this team still isn’t that good, because we have way too many flaws. Our bigs suck (and I said Jarrett Allen was a borderline All-Star for most of the year, but he’s been absolutely invisible lately, and has been outplayed by Jordan, who himself is not that good), our shooters can’t shoot, we’re an overall low IQ team that turns the ball over like crazy, and we’re never going to be good defensively, especially if Kyrie came back and the focus shifts completely to scoring buckets.
We hype our team up too much and then get upset when they fall short of unrealistic expectations. We were never close to being a 50 win team, we were never going to be better than the Celtics this year (and I know a lot of people here boldly claimed we were going to be), and we were never going to be a strong playoff team, our ceiling was being a low seeded playoff team.
I don't know man.
Kyrie and Levert to this team would have made all the difference. Now you have way more scoring and you get to put Dinwiddie in the Second Unit.
I don't think we would be a borderline playoff team. I think we would be right there with the top 5.
Were playing too many guys off the bench that have no business playing. And nobody can create their own shot except Dinwiddie.
How about returning to the motion offense where we lived and breathed 3s and cuts. Constant movement, ball moved, none of these dominant ISO ball crap....

I agree with the general sentiment. When you're struggling give guys who are hustling and playing defense bigger roles. It doesn't matter if they can't score as much because our fg% is in the toilet anyway. If a guy wants to be invisible, he can be invisible on the bench. Effort by minimum. Professionalism over frustration. Go out there and work your butt off and you have my respect win or lose.

Think it's time to maybe change things up a bit? I've been saying to myself for a few weeks now that Temples legs are hitting the wall with all the minutes he has been forced into playing. I love Temple and he brings a great presence to the team along with leadership, but you can tell the minutes have affected his play on the court. Prince is tough to watch simply because he doesn't play with much passion, emotion, and just doesn't look like he has that hunger to win. I could deal with him missing shots if he were doing other little things on the court. Jordan and Allen are both up and down right now and I kind of get the feel from watching them that I do with Prince no intensity. What if you changed things up like this...
Dinwiddie
Harris
Musa
Rodi
Allen
Levert (Give him starter minutes over Musa though)
TLC
Temple
Chandler
Claxton
The effort and intensity would definitely go up a few notches. I think the games would be more bearable to watch. It doesn't look like Irving is coming back anytime soon so why not give the younger guys like Musa, Rodi, TLC, and Claxton more of a chance to play. They atleast hustle while they are out there.
Rodi has looked great over the last stretch of games and TLC has been solid on both ends. Going off the Mavs game and last night Musa isn't just standing around the 3pt line and chucking anymore he is attacking and looking to drive and setup teammates with his passing ability.

I don't know if I agree with that. None of us really know what this team would have looked like with healthy Kyrie and Levert, along with DInwiddie for the rest of the season. It would have made a massive difference for us offensively, which is something where we rank bottom level at this point. Start of the season, our defense was the big problem, but obviously, we've made strides in our defense since, and there's no reason to believe that it couldn't have happened with Kyrie & Levert healthy. Right now, our offense is bottom tier trash level, because teams have figured us out, and most of our shooters can't make open 3s atm. There is plenty of evidence to believe that our offense with healthy Kyrie (if not Levert too) would be much, much better.therealbig3 wrote:Unfortunately, just a lot of overrating by us that now makes these losses especially painful.

Kurucs needs to be inserted into the starting lineup in place of Prince. Temple preferably needs to be taken out as well, once Levert is fit enough to start. And Allen doesn't deserve a starting spot at the moment. DJ doesn't either, but at least DJ has shown more than Allen recently.MGrand15 wrote:I just don't get how Rodi only plays 12 minutes today. Without question. We were putting up top 5 offensive numbers with both players in the line up, and this was WITH Spencer having a rough start to the season.
Having only one ball handler that can create offense is the issue, and now teams are jamming the paint so Spencer can't take his man in for lay ups. They've also taken away the lobs with Jarrett Allen.
The Nets were given wide open three after wide open three and outside of Joe Harris no one is hitting anything. Prince's shooting has been horrific over the last 16 games at 25% from downtown . Temple is shooting under 29% over the last month and some change. Stark contrast from November when both of them were killing it from downtown, it's no coincidence that their shooting slumps coincide with us losing badly. Opponents are playing the numbers game and are daring the Nets to shoot threes. Unfathomable, but here we are.
The team needs help badly. I don't expect Prince and Temple to shoot this poorly for the rest of the year since it isn't the norm for either of them, but we need our playmakers in the line up to take the pressure off of roleplayers who are being asked to do more than they are capable of.

The crazy part is, the ball is moving. Dudes are just firing up bricks. Had Temple and Prince hit their regular percentages we win last night running away.

When you are spread thin there is no margin for error. a 40% shooter doesnt go 4 for 10 every game... ebbs and flows of a season. when you have all your talent you overcome the dry spells. when you have to play musa and pinson and rely on teple and prince for offense, you dont win when everyone isnt hitting shots.
plus, scouting has caught up. teams dont care if dinwiddie scores 30. take away the pick and roll easy buckets and corners threes, let diniwddie score 50 and you still wont lose to this team. teams dared spencer to beat them early and he did. now they are saying dont let anyone else get theres and we cant win that way.
We need levert to come back strong. even then, it will be tough because he is inconsistent himself.
Hopefully Kyrie can get back this year

Teams know that Din doesn't really use the mid range. The only two actions they have to stop are the layup and the lob play. Cover the corners and live with the Nets sub 30% 3pt shooting. Doesn't help that Jarrett is still one dimensional offensively. Makes covering his roll easy, because he barely ever uses as much as a single dribble and coughs up the ball a lot when pressured.
