There are going to be games when one of our stars is having an off night like Kyrie had. A good team can step in for him and that’s exactly what happened. But for that player to be someone that flew in couple days ago from Russia that had never played here is simply incredible. He is legit. This team is deep. Raptors left everything on the floor tonight and to beat a team that has championship DNA is certainly a boost for us and something we can build on. Great win! On a side note .. the refs were trying to help them. I slow mode the fouls and some were blatantly biased. Tyler never touched Lowry on a foul, Blake’s had a rebound smacked off a raptors leg called off him, knick nack calls went against us several times but they were allowed to bang on us. Etc. That’s the crap I can’t stand the most.

I know DJ has his short comings but a 6 or 8 minute shift to change the focus of this game would have been welcome. it also would have given us a verticle threat for all the double teams they threw at us. im cool with DJ getting DNPs if its claxton on the floor. but i think its overkill. 0 minutes of rim threat/shot blocking isnt good no matter how bad your center is overall. need to make the D change and adapt.

I went kinda back and forth on small ball today - especially since we were shorthanded. I think the coaching staff really didn't want Lowry and FVV to walk into open 3s off PNRs. With Green and Blake, we just switched everything. Lowry still hit all his BS, end of the shot clock 40 footers but I think the idea worked. We forced them into iso-ball.

It did hurt our offense a bit. Having a finisher like DJ when KD is getting doubled makes it way harder for the defense to cover everything.

It feels good to beat the Raptors. Mike James was the player of the game for us, they contained KD but he hit some big shots late in the 4th quarter. Jeff Green was excellent, Joe Harris kept us in it when we got down by 6 in the 4th quarter.

Mike James was a potencial Euroleague MVP, it's not like coming from "nowhere". Just saying. He was master & commander in CSK, top team in Europe. He's here just because he argued with the coach.

Was only able to catch a bit of the game live, but saw extended highlights. Great team win!

I like how this team isn’t panicking when the opposition goes on runs and we give up leads. We’re exorcising demons by beating teams like Raps who beat us earlier in the year at a time when they’re fighting to make the playoffs.

Mike James could easily have had 3 or 4 more assists verses the Raptors if wide open shots were dropping.

His court vision is superb and so many times he found the open man only to have it clunk off the rim.

PHX fans would disagree. Than again we on a different level.

Lots of players fail to make their mark in the NBA at first, then ply their trade overseas and return with more well-rounded skill sets. I think that James has improved significantly since his Phoenix days.

Phoenix fans said how horrible he is when I brought him up last year, but thing is, last time Mike James was in the NBA, Fred Van Vleet for example was playing in G league. 4 years basically is a long time in players career and players can really improve, told you all this guy is a baller. Just hope he doesnt get too comfortable, yesterdays game was a perfect balance of him looking for open teammates and attacking himself, at least in Europe he is far more of non passer hero ball lover, but chucker James is not needed on this team. I think and hope he realize he plays with 3 (when Harden returns) all time greats and hes there to run an offense and just be a threat, I really rooting for this guy, was really glad seeing him ball yesterday even tho it was against the Raptors.

Yeah i mean small ball played a big role. my thing is like, find 6 minutes for DJ and if it works and causes issues and prevents them from doubling KD stick with it. if not, yank him. we were getting killed on the glass by a 6'9" birch and the 25th worst rebounding team in the league.
