Can you find 15 years old Musa in this video?

In your opinion do you think Musa is ready to play NBA minutes or will he need time to adjust?

Even in Europe for most of the time he struggled to score when he faced athletic and long defenders, and couldn't finish around the basket against long and athletic centers, so if there is a way that suddenly become no issue for him in the NBA where like everybody is tall, long and athletic, yeap, he will score them 20 in his first night.

That's not good.

We have another young player on our team, Caris LeVert who suffers from that same issue, and imo it leads to his inconsistency.

I also think it adds to the reason why D'Angelo Russell is inefficient as well. Not being able to score against athletic defenders.

so now we have young and inexperienced (although Musa has been pro longer than Russell and LeVert) three ball handler types that can't function well against length and athleticism.

yeah, we're going to definitely lose a lot of games next season.

whoever is going to be drafted by the Nets in 2019 will have to be an athletic god or we are doomed

Petrovic was misused by Trailblazers in year and half he was in Portland as a catch and shoot player and was playing virtually no minutes before he requested the trade which got him to Nets.

Petrovic died 25 years ago this month, and now the Nets have another super confident and talented young Eastern European SG who likes to go aggressively to hoop.

:o

Bagley III was born on March 14, 1999. The Kings played that day. They won...against the Lakers which was the start of the Kings-Lakers golden era.

Its kind of spine tingling stuff

There’s more

Petrovic started playing for Nets in January 1991. The brutal Bosnian War in which Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia were involved broke out in April 1992. And continued till 1995. Petrovic, who was Croatiian, died in June 1993. It must have been very intense for him

The war ended after Bosnia and Croatia united against Serbia.

Dzanan was born in 1999. He says he did not really know about Petrovic until he went to Croatia. But snce December 2014, he has played with Croatian team Cedevita, and learned with what reverence Petrovic is thought of there

A good article about Dzanan on other site describes that when he was 16 he led the Bosnian 16 and under team to a magical completely unlikely championship at 2015 FIBA Europe championships.

Hie has already been on magical ride in his career. And getting signed by Nets must have had a particular resonance for him.

“Then, the impossible happened. They won. Musa sank the final free throw with 0.01 left to seal an 85-83 victory over Lithuania , collapsing on the floor in tears. He finished with 33 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocks ... and was named MVP of the tournament.

Meanwhile, back home, Bosnia exploded. A celebration was scheduled for the next night when the team arrived back in Sarajevo ... with Musa carrying the championship trophy. An estimated 50,000 residents flocked to the center of the city for an emotional impromptu celebration. The celebration was described as the biggest party the city had ever witnessed.“

He’s going to be an interesting kid to watch

I like Musa based off of the tape I've seen of him and his early interviews. I'm rooting for him.

but please...lets not compare him to Drazen. Its disrespectful to an NBA Legend like Drazen, and unfair to a 19 year old kid like Musa.

Drazen was a knockdown elite shooter. he is revered for a reason.

I agree . We all need to understand where Musa is at this point in his development. I just think it’s pretty cool that there was a personal link between Musa and Nets even before he was picked.

Edit - Petrovic was 26 when he joined Nets and had already been in NBA 1 and 1/2 seasons. Musa just turned 19 a second ago :-)

This actually isn't true in Musa case, his dad is a army oficer and his mom is a menager in one company

“He seems like a good kid, respectful off the court. But on the court, he’s got that edge, that ‘I’m the best guy on the court and you suck’ mentality,” Fraschilla said. “These kids from that region of Europe come from tough, not necessarily wealthy, backgrounds. Basketball for these kids is a way out, like it is for a kid from The Bronx. He earned that swagger well.

What is the relationship between Musa and Doncic? They must know each other since they are the same age — Luka only a few months older than Musa - and are from countries very close to one another, although Doncic moved to Spain to play for Real Madrid when he was 13. Have they ever played together or against each other?

Did Doncic play in the 2015/FIBA Europe 16 and under tournament where Musa was MVP?

They didn't know personally each other before the draft night, and never played against each other. Doncic never participated in those FIBA youth national teams championships, he spent summers working on his game and body.

Musa was often asked about Doncic from media and fans and I think he is annoyed with that question.

You can see that question and answer here for example:
http://www.aba-liga.com/news.php?id=39170

To add, Doncic dad is a former profesionall basketball player and his mom is a former model, so he too isn't from backround "like Bronx"

I said this last year and eneded up eating crow, but once again I feel like the best place for our 19 year old is the GLeague. But after Allen's rookie year, i wouldn't be surprised if Musa is coming off off bench and averaging 12 ppg in 20 mins a night.

I think Musa will be used like Kilpatrick was in our system (minus the PG bull skip couldn't handle). A microwave scorer off the bench who gets thrown in at SG/SF when our offense is running dry. Atleast early on in his career.

that would be really encouraging. i dont know anything about this guy but from the little ive read and seen he seems alot further off then allen...

also, i think allens transition as a big is easier. set screens, roll, and be actice defensively. i think the wings in this system have alot mre going on

[Musa’s] skill level is good to have. But now he’s a piece of NBA silly putty. It’s up to Kenny Atkinson and his staff to mold him into an NBA player,” ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla said. “We’re talking about a guy who’s not going to reach his optimal potential until 27, 28. He’s not a guy that’s going to come in and immediately have an impact. But he’s not a project. He’s a talent.

What does that have to do with anything? Musa is 19. Of course the GLeague is going to be be serious option for him.

They're saying his scoring will definitely have a place on an NBA team, but while he has the potential to be more than just a scorer, for now hes just a scorer.

I remember seeing posts about Jarrett Allen having to be sent down to the g league too

**** that g league **** man. its garbage basketball. throw Musa into the water and let him swim or sink. if he sinks, ok g league. if he holds his own, let him stay with the big boys. i need to see what he's about.

Yes, re Musa's role. Someone - I think MDB - said on draft night that he liked this pick because we have enough high character guys, we need some more killer instinct. Musa brings some much needed iso scorer/swagger / closer mentality to the team.
