The Nets should get value for Claxton in a trade, retain Day'Ron at half the price, and draft and/or sign another big.

Two of the top FAs this year are bigs (Turner and Reid). We have 5 draft picks. Moving Claxton and utilizing a pick and cap space on a big would be smart asset management.

I have a feeling someone will overpay for Sharpe and force our hand

But do you prefer him to last few years of Clax?

Clax as a supplemental piece on a good roster is more valuable than Sharpe... He's had a down year, but I'm not writing him off just yet.

I do like Sharpe as well, but need to see more impact defensively if he's going to get any sort of payday....

Nobody else has cap space, so the most he can get, outside of a S&T, is the MLE.

after an unfortunate and frustrating 5-5 stretch where everyone around them is on losing streaks, we are finally getting things moving back in the correct direction. 59 games in, 23 games left, seems pretty likely this team will end up around 30 wins.

It is going to be hard to get Philly/Toronto to pass us but the odds difference between 5/6/7 isn't that dramatic. Need Chicago and SAS to keep winning. Let's go D Fox!!!! as long as they do we have at least a 1/3 chance of getting into top 4.

The 10th teams are both at 27 wins already, so overcoming a 6 win difference is pretty close to impossible with just 23 games left.

Philly breaking their losing streak gets us back to 6th. even better most everyone behind won and put another game between us. Thank you Quintin Grimes, hopefully Philly plays a little more unburdened now with Embiid officially shut down and expectations gone. Next up they have Portland so whoever wins helps, though Philly winning obviously helps more than anyone else at the moment.

The Mavericks will be better for whatever period of games AD plays, but the great irony of KD and Kyrie's current predicament is that if they just stayed together they would have had a much better shot at winning a championship...

losing to SAS was clutch, now a full 5 wins behind them with 21 games to play. Toronto on 2 game winning streak without Ingram debuting yet. We can assume they will load manage him, but with or without they are a better roster than nets so that seems like an even odds race to a worse record. same goes with PHI though they seem more committed to a tank for obvious reasons. #5-7 odds are a tier that dont change too much but better is obviously better.

id be very happy with any of the chalk top 4 picks at this point (flagg, harper, bailey, vj). queen, maluach, tre johnson, traore rising and jakucionis give me some hope they will get a good player regardless.

Phoenix seems likely to now catch at least Dallas and get into the play in since Dallas is in shambles. The other 3 play in teams are MIN, LAC, SAC, so PHO would have a chance of advancing to playoffs out of lotto.

Mentioned this in another thread, but while the picks appear close in the lotto and certainly closer than expected, even right now the Nets pick is about 10x more likely to get top 4 and 8x more likely to get #1oa. Those are massive gains and they will likely only widen more thanks to Dallas' implosion.

We had too many injurys and Embiids carreer is probably done( and PG was a bad signing too). If our pick is top 6 we keep it, so our only hope is to tank this season :lol: . No point in going to play ins and get destroyed. We get to plan for a future without Embiid, i dont think he will ever play at the same level he was. Horrible extension by Morey.

our tank prospects are coming into clearer view. with 19 games left in the season, it would seem almost impossible to catch Bulls or SAS who have 5 win leads. if either team wins just 5 of their remaining 18+ games, Nets would have to go 10-9 just to tie records.

Fortunately the odds don't shift too much from 5th through 7th bc we're in a 3 way tanker tie with Toronto and Philly. 3/10 to 4/10 for a top 4 pick basically. Both of those teams have better players than Nets despite same motivations, so I think we can rest easy that in all likelihood we'll end up 5th or 6th.

just to add on to that, our next 9 games are all against teams in playoffs:

LAL
@CLE
@CHI
BOS
ATL
@BOS
@IND
@IND
DAL

Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas the only teams with .500 or worse records not above the play in.

even if some of these teams rest guys against lowly nets, we are also likely to do the same. Game 10 would be against TOR, so with some good luck we could already be in better lotto position by then. Philly and Toronto play each other twice rest of season, which is great since one of them have to win. PHI plays UTAH next and has 2 games vs WASH left also. 1 vs NO. going to be hard for them to out tank us!

Return to Brooklyn Nets
