Now that the euphoria has warn off... I'm still kind of split on how I feel. Yesterday for example Favors ripped a rebound or two he had no business getting just because of his brute strength...

The Nets do need a big change but would they be better served going after someone like OJ Mayo and spending another year or two in the draft?

Sure they would, but that's not what our FO, especially Proky, Yormark and Avery want.

They are all about winning now at any cost and marketing the team against the big bad Knix.

Now I understand the importance of that, but I still think there are better ways to go about this.

Then again, you never know, there are always shady deals in the works.

Whose to say next year we don't go into the season with something along the lines of Chris Paul, Rip Hamilton, Melo, LaMarcus Aldridge and Emeka Okafor?

It would be crazy, but it's not completely out of the question.

I agree. And unless we get CP3 out of it, we are stuck in the middle of the pack for the next 3 years...

I am no psychic but I guarantee that the Nets would try their hardest to get CP3 as soon as they feel the time is right. I'm not endorsing all that we're doing because we're most likely going to destroy our cap situation but if you're going to kill yourself you might as well go out with a bang right? :D :banghead: :D :banghead:

Would be our team right?

Yeah, I would prefer Jamison as well.

I know this is homer of me, but I would love to have Vince back instead as well and his contract presents a ton of options in the offseason.

There are a few other players out there that seem like much better options that should cost nothing more then expirings too, I don't see the obsession with Rip anyway. This has got to be fueled by Leon Rose and Melo himself. Players are usually bad at evaluating other talent to put around themselves unless that other talent is obvious stars/superstars, but it seems as though it's the type of stuff I feared, they're letting Melo play GM and this is before he's on the team.

I think this is all a Leon Rose creation. When you look at a team like Miami and the way they chose to be together, there's no way Carmelo is going to say "Yes, Rip Hamilton is the key to me signing the extension!" I think it's more of the fact that Leon Rose is the agent of both players and he can satisfy both of their demands to be away from their current teams in one swoop.

I don't think you're saying Melo really wants Rip but I just want to clarify that this is probably all their agent's doing with Melo and Rip both simply acquiescing to what's going on rather than pushing to do something.

Compared to Rip, I wouldn't mind VC especially as a second option to Melo (which would create big matchup problems for other teams) but I just don't see the Suns doing another trade this season although they need to with their roster of Steve Nash and a bunch of forwards lol.

I don't think you realize what you just said. Yes, you may have a bad opinion of his GM skills but by calling him the Travis Outlaw of his field, you're basically damning him to Hell as the worst creature alive (save for Outlaw himself) lol.

I agree with you there. We're obviously not goign to win with whatever deal goes down now. But I think the Nets (and Leon Rose) are pushing this now so the Nets can have time before the trade deadline to pull off another deal. If not, we'll be going through this again next year except with Chris Paul not saying whether he wants to stay in NOH or not. The Russian Mafia will have their hands around Stern's neck saying "You own the Hornets. Give Paul to us now!"

I can't wait to see E's reaction if and when this all goes down. Hopefully, he won't destroy his computer and still talk to us lol.

Just an FYI... Rips contract is only partially guaranteed on the last year... he'll have trade value by next years deadline.

The way it would actually go down if it goes down would be Carmelo would sign an extension with the Nuggets and then be immediately traded to the Nets ;-)

Why would he do that if he doesn't wanna play for the Nets at all though?

If he doesn't do it he's not getting traded.

BS.

It's $9 million guaranteed out of $12.5, utterly unwaivable.

Are you Carmelo? If he didn't want to play for the Nets, he would not sign the extension. He actually has a great amount of say in this deal so if he signs the extension, that means that he actually wants to remain with the Nets.

What I don't like is this sissyness from us where Detroit whines that they don't want to take Petro's contract and we're debating about sending him to another team??? No, it's called a deal. You take the good with the bad. You save money by giving away Rip's contract, you no longer have a logjam at the guard position with Rip and Ben Gordon, and you complain about Petro's deal? No, you take Petro, like it, and like it good. Don't be a sissy King!
