At this point I'm 50-50 fo either happening but really worried another toxic season is on the cards if this team stays together. If the right deal comes along, then I'm all in for trading both stars.

Build around Ben + Brown/Ingram. Keep the books clean and take a swing in FA in a couple of seasons. Not a bad plan tbh.

We're not winning with KD. I'd rather pair Brown with Simmons and go from there. At least we can try to build towards something as opposed to playing this dumb game with Durant. He's a clown

I wouldn't be shocked if we end up having to run it back. Its hard to be all that optimistic heading in to the season and I'm at the point were I really don't feel we're going to deal KD before the season starts. I don't blame Marks for holding out for more, but I think he should have taken the initial Celtics offer. The longer this goes on, the less reason teams have to trade for KD. If we go in to the season with the same roster then maybe a contending team gets desperate enough to offer more, but I'm not sure what that'd even look like.

Hello Brooklyn wrote:Why else would KD want to meet Tsai unless he sees a way back?

If he wanted to be traded badly he would threaten to hold out of training camp like many players have done.

He made a foolish error making the trade demand in the first place. Now he regrets it.

Won't be surprised if Tsai just hire back his boyfriend Adam Harrington and KD shuts up.

Depends on who requested the meeting tbh. It could def be Tsai reaching out trying to fix the situation and KD deciding he's willing to listen. Tsai's recent tweets kinda suggest that he might be on board with the stars staying.

There's absolutely zero chance we win it all if we run it back. We have 0% chemistry, no leadership, accountability and commitment, still stuck with an inexperienced coach and a lot of question marks with Ben10. Worse, KD could be in another injury waiting to happen, which would flush his trade value down the drain.

I'm not being a pessimist, I'm just being a realist. I just hope I'm wrong though...

Mike James walked back his comment as there's a lack of clarity on the timing since the playoffs in Europe occured well after we were eliminated by Boston. That being said, it's just another in a long line of controversy that KD and Kyrie don't address and squash.

The elephant in the room is how this all relates to Kyrie from the Kd side. KD meeting Tsai by himself is big news if you ask me; I would not be surprised to see him say he doesn’t want to play with Kyrie anymore. At which point, Nets are forced to trade one or the other. Im going with the shocking take since the Nets never catch a break. I expect KD ask that they trade Kyrie.

Hints to take note of is Charania saying Kyrie wants to be a Net regardless of KD being there or not and KD saying he doesn’t want basketball to interfere with their friendship.

This chit is so annoying. I feel like they have reached the point of no return with this nonsense. If I had to speculate, I would think Kevin told Joe Tasi, look I ain't playing no games.. if you want me here, I call the shots still.

Kevin probably realizes that the league is not willing to depart with young stars for him and probably feels disrespected, so he wants to prove a point to the league that he's better than 95% of these youngsters in the league on his worse day.

Therefore, KD wants to run it back and prove to the league he was disrespected and since the Nets believed in him from day one he's willing to come back and bury the hatchet.

He can now slither his way back in, make amends with his teammates and aim for another 1st round sweep. The saga continues....
OKC Thunder fan, too.

if this is true, he's even more gutless than I thought. This could have been addressed right after the playoffs. instead he waits until the draft and free agency, basically sabotaging the team's free agent efforts.

And Kyrie has jack to do with the fact that KD basically quit on this team.

I agree, but KD quitting on the team is a separate subject; just reference what happened the week of the 27, Kyrie opted in and KD asked for a trade three days later... Coincidence? I think not, Not to long thereafter, Kyrie states he respeccts KD's wish for a trade and KD prior to Kyrie's decision stated basketball has nothing to do with their friendship. I personally think KD/Kyrie bromance is over and both want to move on from the other at this point. Kyrie probably wants to have a similar squad to the Celtics of 17-18 and KD wants Kyrie gone or himself traded.

Would you be okay with this scenario?

KD says I want to stay if Kyrie is traded FOR ASSETS that gives BK a solid chance at a TITLE for the the next 3 seasons.

Kyrie gets moved to Miami for Herro, Lowry, and an unprotected 1st.

We run it back with that team. Thoughts?

I'd say the only way this all could work (with KD) would be with Kyrie on the team. Kyrie is one of the 20 or so best players in the league and in any game could be the best player on the floor. With his trade value where it's at, you're not getting anywhere close to that type of player in return and this roster is built in a way that needs to have that caliber of player. It is what it is.

Miami wants to add more talent. They believe Kyrie would mix well with Jimmy and Bam. They want to desperately contend before Pat retires? I know this as I have lived in Miami for a long time after growing up in NJ.

This trade could happen. Do you feel comfortable with this IF this is the only way KD stays?

Kyrie probably wants to have a similar squad to the Celtics of 17-18 and KD wants Kyrie gone or himself traded.

I think his trade request was probably more about just wanting to play with CP3 and Butler, two elite players hungry to win a title with no questions. At the time of his trade request, maybe the thinking was that the logistics of a trade to both teams would be pretty straight forward and somewhat similar to Harden (i.e. Ayton, picks; Herro, picks).

Now that it's pretty clear that the Nets aren't out here looking to just accommodate his exit from a mess he helped create, maybe there's been some re-thinking on the trade request? Besides maybe the Celtics, there isn't a team he could go to that would be more talented than the roster he's currently on after trading for him.

If KD returns this could also be a good indicator for Simmons (or at least what the team is thinking). Not sure you try to make to things work with KD if there's still questions around Simmons return.

I'd need at least 2 firsts to trade Kyrie to an Eastern Conference team and take on Lowry's bad contract. I'm also not that high on Herro as an asset. If we keep KD, you can't make the competition better.

I would be fine with trading KD to Boston for Brown,Smart and Williams along with four picks. Those three players would fill needs and cover depth chart and it gives Kyrie/Simmons another star. I really loved the make up of the Celtics team back in 2018 and this would remind me so much of that team with a better Kyrie. Kyrie/Simmons/Brown/Smart/Williams is a solid team that can win it all. And the defense of that team would be stifling.

You have to think like players.

If KD says here are the options and Joe is okay with it.

A) Keep the trade demand between them and trade him before the season or by the deadline 100%, just be cool so they get more value. If Kyrie isn't traded he wants to leave and will expand his list of teams by 2 more...

OR

B) He says he will stay now and not bitch about anything if they sign Melo as a bench player, trade Kyrie for something like the Heat deal, and move forward.

KD likely doesn't want to deal with Kyrie anymore... if he does just play along here!

WHICH DO YOU DO? Play this game out... It is hypothetical and tell me WHICH OPTION YOU CHOOSE!

Again, Kyrie iterated he wants to STAY WITH BROOKLYN and he is genuine about that. It was KD who requested the trade, not Kyrie. If you trade KD for a haul of depth and picks, you do it. I would personally ship his ass out to either the Celtics or Warriors for a bulk of their depth. Kyrie/Simmons would get a hella bunch of shooters and solid two-way players with high upside and the defense would improve dramatically giving Nash an opportunity to coach a system offense instead of the ISO rubbish.

If we could route Lowry elsewhere I would gladly take back Tyler Herro in a trade for Kyrie along with a 1st and a future swap. Kyrie would poison Miami's locker room and take them out of the picture, on top of them losing a good young piece.

My offer still stands for KD as well: Jaylen Brown, Grant Williams, Derrick White, 2 1sts + 1 swap.

I'll gladly take all of these young pieces and try to move on from this absolute joke we've been watching for 3 years.

Brown, Simmons, and Herro is a good young core to build around. It may not equal a championship right away but it would be a start of a well balanced and versatile team full of shooters and defenders.

Yes, absolutely. But I see no way Miami gives up that value for Kyrie.

How in the hell did we miss out on Mike Muscala? He just signed today with the Thunder, you mean to tell me that the Nets couldn't make an offer???

I feel like KD's bullsh*t has really held us back this offseason. I love all of Marks' moves but we still lack a stretch 5 and it seems pretty clear we missed a few potential signees because of the chaos.

It looks like the Tsai family is making peace with KD's camp, because Clara has been seen speaking with both Kleinman and Harrington, but I've got to be honest, I would still prefer to trade KD now and not have to deal with his miserableness for the next 4 seasons as he declines. He's made it clear that he doesn't care about this fanbase and he's a quitter. Why are we holding onto him?

As awful of a teammate as Kyrie is, what KD did this summer is worse. He really f*cked us over...for NOTHING.
