KD is an idiot. I'll gladly swap him out and add Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Grant Williams to this roster.

The Nets players attending Kyrie's event yesterday all but solidifies the Nets are bringing everyone back; I think Carter and Harrington as well; KD requesting a meeting with Tsai came at a convenient time. But this depth chart is even crazier and better than last year's team. Curry/Mills/Harris will shoot lights out and you have to expect at least two of three will be hitting threes consistently and Simmons should have a resurgence considering age and he is working on his strength and conditioning. Per ScoopB, I expect the Carmelo signing soon! Carmelo will add some size and shooting; Nets should be set after that.

Don't forget that Ben excels as assisting three point shooting. This roster is absolutely killer if we can just add one more big body that can shoot. If that means Melo, I'm fine with it. Gives us fans someone to cheer for and a much needed stretch 4.

I followed Melo when he played with Russ/PG13, and while he is older, he is also wiser; I expect him to shoot the ball fairly well and get open looks. I hope he can commit to defense though. But an open Melo with Simmons passing the ball will be deadly.

DeMarcus Cousins is still out there and if nothing else he could be depth that takes up minutes when needed against Embiid, Jokic, Gobert, etc.

Blake is still out there too. If he could replicate anything close to what he did his first year he'd be a solid offensive fit next to Simmons actually. Also provides leadership and seemed to be a positive locker room influence last year which is obviously huge for this team (Mills will need a lot of help here lol)

Bledsoe is another FA. He's a guard but can (could?) defend wings while being okay from three. Could be a playoff contributor if he can still play.

The roster is strong but Claxton is the key. His offensive fit next to Simmons is a very big question mark and so is his availability. He took 3s in college and even the start of his Nets tenure but that changed with the Big 3. I still go back to Dinwiddie calling him the second most talented Nets player next to KD, so there has to be something more offensively. Maybe his role was simplified as a second/third year player because the team was looking to contend and already had elite offensive options and some efficient role players? A PnR center is also what you're primarily looking for next to Harden. Now though with Simmons he and whoever else is playing center will need to at least attempt to space the floor.

If Claxton and Simmons can work offensively, the defensive potential is elite. You now have a 4/5 combination that can switch onto and defend every position with one of those players DPOY level. There's also O'Neale who has been a solid 3&D wing for some time now and KD who is a good defender. The defense could be completely different next year.

KD says I want to stay if Kyrie is traded FOR ASSETS that gives BK a solid chance at a TITLE for the the next 3 seasons.

Kyrie gets moved to Miami for Herro, Lowry, and an unprotected 1st.

We run it back with that team. Thoughts?

I would make that trade in a heartbeat, but I don't think Miami, or anyone else, would give up anything close to that package for Kyrie. I think the Lakers are the only team in the NBA that would give up a real asset for Kyrie, and it's only because LeBron has a gun to their heads.

I also think at this point, with the chatter about KD meeting with Tsai, and the Nets' instagram posting a bunch of happy Kyrie stuff, it's most likely that KD has told the Nets that he'll come back if the Nets make nice with Kyrie.

The Nets might just get lucky next year and have KD, a contract-year-motivated Kyrie, a healthy Simmons who is motivated by the mountain of criticism he's received, a healthy Harris, a healthy Curry, a properly slotted Patty, a healthy Warren, better perimeter D in O'Neal and improving young guys in Claxton, Edwards and Sharpe.

That's a ton of ifs and moving pieces, but if everything comes together, they could be contenders.

Melo shot 38% from three last season. As long as that remains constant he'd be a good fit.

Melo would be fine.

I still don't know why we haven't signed a backup Center though.

Dwight would be fine. Just somebody with size in case Sharpe isn't ready to go.

Do you think Melo would get regular minutes in the rotation? Would he be good with not playing consistently?

Kyrie/Mills
O'Neale/Curry
KD/Harris
Simmons/Warren
Claxton/Sharpe

He could get some minutes with Simmons at center but Harris, Warren, Curry, etc. getting those minutes seems like better utilization. Maybe Edwards too with his defense.

Agree on adding a third center. Ideally it would be one that can space the floor some, if possible.

The Dwight Howard rumor makes perfect sense as a depth chart move. Although, I think that rumor popped up because it seems our final move would be to add Melo or Dwight to round out the roster when this KD situation gets resolved.

I don’t think Melo’a name has been connected to us as much because of the TJ Warren signing. It would be a bit redundant. They’d be eating and competing for each other’s shots and minutes.

Probably not. Kessler Edwards should definitely be playing over him.

But if he wants to ride the bench he can come.

Agreed.

I would much rather play Kess or David Duke.

Dwight at least gives us something else we don't have.

I think he’d be a good mentor for DayRon as well. I’m not one of those that’s still stuck on Dwight’s past. I’d hate to pass up on him because of that and watch him have a good year as a backup elsewhere like what happened in Philly.

I could care less about the personal issues with KD when it comes to roster building. I’m still going to get the best fits around him, Kyrie and Ben for the betterment of everyone. If Kevin gets dealt, we still ended up signing Dwight. Oh well. Build his momentum and trade him to a top contender.
Other than that, I’d definitely add him. We can’t guarantee that Nic or DayRon will be ready play and even if they are at their best seasons ever. They are still capable of an injury or COVID. We need more depth. Don’t care if it’s Dwight or not.
Outside of Dwight, I’d be looking for a 3 point shooting center.

There's no point in doing that. But I don't have to cheer for him either. He let us know how he feels, it's basically Deron Williams all over again.

I honestly still would prefer to trade him now than wait another season for when he turns 35 and the return will even be worse.

How? He hasn’t said a word lol You can feel that way AFTER media day.

Until then, I think it’s crazy to disown the idea of supporting both if they try to fix things with ownership and their teammates don’t seem to be bothered. This was all media driven and it’s backfired on the media. They can’t admit they tried to drive him out of here and spun all forms of false narratives. KD simply demanded a trade that was reported. That’s it. Everything else is speculation.

No different to Kareem demanding to be traded to the Nets or Knicks before meeting with Jerry Buss and fixing their issues or no different to Kobe demanding a trade that never happened. Both situations Lakers fans got over it and they still were honored and retired their number.

It’s nothing like Deron Williams. That’s a total disrespect to Kevin Durant. D-Will SUCKED after talking **** and sulking about being traded to New Jersey. Eventually, wanted a max deal knowing the Nets were heading to NYC.

Didn’t want to get ankle surgery on an obvious issue affecting his durability in the first season in Brooklyn. Then, turned into a bitch when being held accountable and to a higher standard by KG and Pierce during his chance to lead the pieces he asked for. Even Kidd. Then, became unplayable in the 2015 playoffs until the NY called him washed. Not remotely the same situation of character.

That’s basically throwing everything KD has done to help us win out of the window including that 49 Point Triple Double carrying us with a bum ass Harden and injured Kyrie. I can’t pretend he hasn’t busted his ass for us when nobody expected him to even be 100% from an Achilles tear.

We all know if this teams starts off extremely well with something like a 15-4 record. Nobody here wouldn’t be excited to go to games and see Simmons in person playing alongside both Kyrie and KD for a full season.

I bet the moment Simmons has a breakout game where he’s putting up 20/10/7 in a game, the entire narrative will shift.

Him demanding a trade after getting swept out of the first round in a series where he was horrible and basically quit (if you believe Mike James) is a pretty big deal. You can't blame that on the media, that's all KD.

You also can't ignore the fact that he sabotaged our whole summer proceedings by demanding a trade when he did.

If he stays cool, but he showed us who he is. We should be sitting here amped up that we finally have a solid, balanced roster around him, Ben and Kyrie and instead we're wondering if the dude will even show up next month

How can anyone blame the media for KD and his camp literally telling the media that he’s demanded and wants a trade and has spoken directly to ownership about it. The media didn’t make this up or create the trade demand- it was a real thing,

have they glamorized It or beat it to death? Sure but it’s only a story because Durant made it one.
