Honestly, even if it did, if they truly believe they can sign a max FA this off-season and then keep Davis, it would be pretty sick, no?
I love LeVert and Allen, but they still have Musa waiting in the wings and although a twin towers of Davis and Allen would be crazy, it's not truly necessary. And I think they might honestly prefer Musa over LeVert
(Nawlins), maybe just for contract reasons alone.
If the offer was similar to the one Brandon Robinson rumored/proposed, but with Dinwiddie in place of DLo and both Allen and one of LeVert or Musa, a hair better protection on the 2020 pick, it could be extremely interesting.
Allen
Dinwiddie to 3rd team for expiring and a 1st(
this would be if it were a summer deal. If not you rock with Dinwiddie now and see what pops up over the summer to clear his contract and bring back value)Musa or LeVert

Imagine next year fielding a lineup of:
PG: DLo
SG: Beef Jerky Joe
SF: LeVert
PF: Kawhi

I get it. It's a crazy risk. It's not extremely realistic. But it isn't so unrealistic either. And you and some others have Billy King PTSD. Eventually a big trade is a very real possibility. You can't jam yourself into the mantra of, "Not yet, wait for it...", you have to strike when the iron is hot. This might just be the time to drop the hammer.
I agree however that KAT should be a long term target. This is why Russell's leap is a huge thing for this franchise. He's already friends with these guys.
This is the more realistic outcome. We trade for a guy like JaMychal Green, Anthony Tolliver, maybe even Dario Saric, or Markieff Morris at the deadline using very little in the of way of actual assets. Rock it til the wheels fall off this season. Sign a Tobias Harris, or even sign or trade for a Paul Millsap this off-season. Keep drafting, keep finding gems, make a couple medium opportunistic asset consolidation trades and keep growing from within. Trade for a disgruntled star like KAT a few years down the line to be the final piece of the puzzle for extended real deal contention.
But, as Dise and others have said, whether you agree with it or not, Marks is going to do his damnedest to land a superstar or 2 from now til July for a plethora of reasons. We're not talking over the hill retirees here. Or guys with extreme confidence issues and fear of minor surgery like a Deron. Or coast through the money guys like Joe Johnson. He's going to make his moves and pitches to land a young, in their prime league leading stud like Kawhi, Anthony Davis or even KD though.
