There's a lot to be concerned with now though.

Even if he chooses trade KD, is Marks the one to do it? It feels like the track record in similar situations is the GM who replaces the fired guy makes a bum ass trade, or the GM is kept, but knows he's fired as soon as he makes a trade, so he settles for a mediocre haul.

Yes this is huge concern, I’m afraid we gonna do dumb trade and then Marks gonna get sacked right after

Not sure how much of a choice Marks would have. KD is tanking his trade value with this bull. What team is going to trade for KD seeing how he's reacting to things going wrong? I gut my team to trade for KD, but if we don't win a championship. Is he going to find something to whine about until he's traded again? Like he's not wrong. Nash sucks. Marks has decided to keep him way beyond the point he should have fired him. But KD didn't exactly do anything to improve the situation.

extend Marks and let the chips fall where they fall on everything else.

if KD was the god he thinks he is teams would be kicking the doors down for him. they aren't and he can't seem to take that hint.

sometimes you are only choosing between bad and worse options. KD seems committed to forcing the nets into that place, and while it may be a bad option to trade KD for a lightish return (phoenix or boston packages) the worse option is losing a quality GM and hoping Tsai can attract a new one without any picks or cap room on the horizon.

i'm hoping we see Marks extension and a KD trade in the next week or so. If they only extend Marks that's fine, i have no issue playing hardball with KD since this is the 1 year we actually own our own pick.

Tsai needs to extend Marks asap. Marks out is the real doomsday. Hiring a new GM (probably influenced by KD) to either keep him or handle trading him as his first move, yikes.

Fire Marks, he's a dime a dozen nothing GM. Like I get it, rough situation for him, but this isn't about being nice.

If you have a marriage that has a lot riding on it and your wife goes from

"I'm 100% divorcing you"

to

"Well you need to choose, either divorce me or stop going to strip clubs"

Just say bye to the strip clubs and watch internet porn like every other guy does in the 21st century, lol.

Like I feel bad for Marks, but cya. If Durant said this then he's basically offering the Nets owner an olive branch to salvage this "marriage" if you want to put it that way.

If the Nets capitulate here, it won't be the end of it. It will be something else. Maybe a significant injury, maybe he just goes off the rails and demands out again publicly.

I would extend Marks today, and trade Durant to Boston immediately for Brown and whatever that isn't nailed down. We need to disinfect this house.

Billionaires like Tsai got huge ego , I can see Tsai sending Durant to Guadong China for equivalent of 150 million dollars for containers of ramen noodles ( they will sell well in Brooklyn)

Durant did what I thought wasn’t possible year ago on this forum

He become so hated that we forgot about Kyrie ,and most if not all would keep Kai over Durant , hey at least he is fun to watch -when he decides to play

agreed. if im tsai, im calling marks in and extending him instantly 10% above whatever the expectation was. then im asking him who put in the 3 best KD offers and telling him to call all 3 with realistic counters we would accept right now and the first team that calls back gets him.

he wants out and even if he were to change his mind it's only a matter of time until the next thing. it's insane how he went from a low maintenance superstar who did nothing but dominate on the floor and extended without any drama 10 months ago to the guy he's being now. i really think he's freaking out just like harden did the second he wasn't able to do whatever he wanted on the court.

This report changes nothing to me. KD is still under contract and has no leverage as far as the owner should be concerned. He can cry all he wants, I would not let him bully or coerce me if I was Tsai.

If I'm the owner, I do the following steps as soon as possible:

1.) Extend Marks to a long-term deal.
2.) Hold a press conference acknowledging that the Organization is thrilled to have Marks holding the keys to the team's basketball decisions for the foreseeable future. Also state in the press conference that while he is looking for input from everyone he works with, players, coaches, and management, the roster and coaching staff is ultimately his decision. Think this is very clear because if the season gets off to a rough start, this allows him the ability to fire Nash with less backlash.
3.) Call (or meet again with) Durant and tell him that we are still taking calls and having discussions with other teams. If an offer the organization likes presents itself, you will get traded. If not, then you will remain a Net and you are excepted to play. If you sit out, you sit out. If you play, you play. You will not hold the team and organization hostage. (I personally think KD enjoys playing basketball too much to hold out, so I call him on his bluff)
4.) Move forward with the team as it is currently constructed unless a trade the Nets would accept presents itself

Textbook sneaky passive aggressive behavior. When asked about Nash, KD never says a bad word. Now it's all Nash's fault.

There will probably be more interest from other franchises in Marks than KD.

Another thing, I could see getting upset with Ben ghosting the team. That ain't right. But after the guy got surgery, shows me his reasons were legit, water under the bridge.

I'd take this one step further and reiterate what others have said, this is the year to tank, if KD wants to be that spiteful and sit out, God bless.

Marks is not a dime a dozen GM, though he certainly is replaceable and has had a few real head scratchers in between brilliance and solid.

But this is more than that. This is simply a toxic dynamic. The organization has catered to KD on every level they could, as they mainly should have. This isn't even some cliche line in the sand. This is simply an irrevocable relationship.

This isn't your wife threatening divorce over strip clubs. This is the paranoid, insecure, venomous and untrusting for no good reason, pyscho wife. The one putting GPS trackers on your car, showing up at your job, burning your clothes, turning your young kids against you. And then hitting you with some ultimatum like, "Quit your job and work from home, you're only allowed in public with me, or with 20 minute check-ins via FaceTime, or I'll give our dog to a shelter and leave the country with our kids. Btw, I **** Tim."

KD is a straight cancer.

Is it reasonable for him to want a new coach?

Yes.

New GM?

No. Especially when Marks has delivered KD an elite roster year after year that has been derailed by injuries or vaccine mandates. Its not his fault at all.

KD thinks he can run this entire franchise by firing everyone and starting over. Red flag.

Do you think other teams want to deal with this headache?

what are the head scratchers iyo? for me it's probably t. green and shamet but i think both moves had a chance to work, they just didn't. and green was friends with KD pre-KD signing so who knows what was going on behind the scenes with that.

I fully support Nash being fired.

However, has KD actually looked at the roster he has around him? Why should Marks be fired? Marks has done a solid job this offseason on fixing what was wrong.

KD could have aired this out with Tsai months ago. This is why I'm over it with him, he's just as toxic as Kyrie is. Dude you could have been said Fire Nash and then they could have worked out whatever beef he and Sean have (or not). Instead he waits til a month before training camp to speak his piece.

Whatever. It's up to Tsai now. If Marks gets fired over this, I won't feel sorry for him either because he sat on his ass all season watching Nash do f*ck all.

I think KD hates the fact Marks-Nash have a similar relationship like he does with Kyrie.
