I have no desire to see him traded, I'm just curious to hear dialogue on the topic of his perceived value and ceiling in his prime as a player.

Statistically % wise, his game does have similarities to Pippen. He's just not as aggressive as a finisher.

Agreed - Penny was an all-star basically the day they stepped on the court. I didn't see most of Pippen's early career, but having seen him at his peak I just don't think Levert has that kind of ceiling.
How about Eddie Jones?

He doesn't have the effortless explosive rise Pippen had, nor the end to end speed, nor change of direction, or even quickness off ball.
That isn't to say he couldn't become a player comparable Pippen's level, but he just doesn't have his athleticism.
There's definitely some stylistic similarities in overall play, but not stylistically athleticism-wise.

also... this is my dream scenario for LeVert
Penny just seemed way more aggressive in getting the the rim than LeVert, but the skillset and mentality is there. Just watch some of the Penny highlights and get excited with me.

He definitely has shades of Jones, who was a very underrated player. Caris is very unique to me though, like he has elements of a lot of players to his game, but few are spot on comparisons.
Paul George, Manu Ginobili, Eddie Jones, Brandon Roy, Khris Middleton, Pippen, Paul Pierce and on a low end, but simply stylistically, even Derek Anderson. He has parts of all these guys to his game.

This video doesn't really help the case of anyone comparing Caris to Penny. Penny's footwork and athleticism were elite. I don't think Caris is on that level.
He (LeVert) has his own style of play. When Caris starts dunking on people like Penny was off the dribble we can discuss this.![]()

edit: Please rewatch this video and think about this clearly. The footage in that video is nothing remotely close to what we've seen Caris LeVert do on the court. the speed, footwork, and athleticism are hall of fame level. lets not heap these kinds of expectations onto this kid please

Penny was a super human athlete. Caris doesn’t have his (le)vertical explosion but I think he definitely has the quick first step and footwork of Penny. He lacks the strength and the dunk on anyone mentality that Penny had however.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the expectations. LeVert is the best prospect we’ve had since... I mean maybe Richard Jefferson?!? He flashes that sort of all-nba potential.
He is super unique though and it’s really hard to find someone who plays like him but I think a cross between Manu/Penny is a good start.
