Agreed. Two years away from being two years away. I like his skill set but he looks like Alexis Ajnica than Gobert.

The difficulty in projecting Diallo is that he's an 18 year old 6'4 SG who's shown little nba skills yet possess elite vertical.

You can't look at him and then point to Greek Freak and compare, because one is 6'4 while the other was 6'11.

You can find 6'4 guys with elite athleticism. YouTube is filled with guys like them doing slam dunk competitions on the street, European league and asian league.

An athletic big, even if they don't develop much, presents lesser risks because size is difficult to find. And when they are big and can move like that, it makes it even easier to absorb that risk.

A guard, no matter how athletic, can will still need to develop nba skills to be productive.

Gerald Green developed some since being an ultra athletic SG from high school and at his best was still a role player. And he seems more developed than Diallo is right now.

Brooklyn Nets 2017 Draft Thread

Sounds like Kurucs is a serious target.

Marks flew to Barcelona in March to see the 19-year-old Latvian. He has been called by scouts a quintessential stash pick and has been compared favorably with Bogdanovic.

“I think he has tremendous, tremendous upside. I do,’’ ESPN international expert Fran Fraschilla told The Post. “He’s a wing player, well put-together, very skilled, 6’9, 225 [pounds]. Again, he’s just a baby. He’s going to be a very good NBA player. He’s got athleticism, he can shoot it, he’s playing with men already.

“There are glimpses of him being a good NBA player, and where you’re drafting him you’re not drafting him as a potential starter for a couple of years. He’s 19, and by the time he’s 24, you’re going to have a guy who could be a very good NBA player — maybe a starter, at worst a very good rotation guy, and if you’re lucky an All-Star. He has high upside, which is what they’re looking for.”

He’s a more athletic Bogdanovic,’’ Fraschilla told The Post. “He’s not as polished as Bogdanovic. He’s not going to get 40 in an NBA game anytime soon. But he’s a tall, rangy small forward who can handle the ball, dunk on you. And he’s just a baby.

“This kid wouldn’t surprise me if they leave him in Europe. That’s like putting him in Triple-A and getting him back at 21, let him stay over there and marinate,’’ Fraschilla said. “This kid has [good] upside. … An example is getting a younger Bojan. What the Nets did was trade a [28]-year-old for potentially a 19-year-old Bojan and maybe got a kid who’s playing here in a couple years at 21 on a rookie deal.”

Yeah as I said earlier I think Kurucs' best case scenario is a more athletic Bojan in 3-5 years time. Very good player maybe even a starter.

To draft & stash a player that's this young is Hinkie-esque, considering Saric was ready to produce by the time the 76ers expected Embiid to do the same.

Kurucus should be ready to produce at the NBA level in 2-3 years, around the time LeVert & Whitehead should be a bit more mature + the Nets will control their 2019 pick. Kurucus seems a bit quicker than Bojan though.

Yeah, I think it makes sense. Roster spots are scarce and it allows the Nets to use one in order to evaluate other prospects such as Goodwin, McDaniels, etc. in the meantime. By the time a player like Kurucs is ready to come over, we already should have a core in place and will be able to add another nice piece at the right time.

Moreover, I really hope Marks can move up into the early second round. I really like a lot of prospects in this 20 to 40 range and should we be able to walk away from the draft with 3 players out of that range, we should be in good shape going forward.

Calipari and Archie Goodwin in the building at the HSS Center. Starting to feel like Hamidou Diallo had a private workout.

This all but confirms my assessment that Diallo could be Archie Goodwin's development insurance for Sean Marks

Kurucs is a 6'9 small forward that can create his own shot, finish on the fast break looking at his highlights. Looks like a great 19 year old prospect. Bogdanovic came over as more of a finished product at 6'7 shooting guard.

Bogie couldn't create his own shot and finish at the rim either.

not that i know anything about kurucs... and have only seen highlughts. but based on the little i have seen he is the 1 guy i dont want. but if marks/atkinson/trajan like him ill trush their judgement as so far on young guys they have done ok.

Can he play any defense? he seems like he moves in slow motion too

same here...

although the 1 thing i like about draftign an itnernational guy (doesnt have to be kurucs) is that fi we do it consistently we become a destination for those guys, build further pipelines into europe, and are ahead of the curve on scouting with an advantage in foreign free agency

We got Bogs in round 2 and that's exactly what this guy looks like a 2nd rounder. Want nothing to do with him at 22 or 27, I'll pass.
