a 20 win team rejecting a top 5-10 player in the league who is still young is ridiculous.

Kyrie is also signed to 2 more years under a great contract....If you could trade him for DLo + a pick, you do it..no question.

Let's trade LeVert +2 1st for Tony Parker and LeMarcus Aldridge while we're at it.

Who needs young players on rookie deals?

And when we and our thrown together team do nothing and lose Kyrie in F/A because we don't have RFA rights, we just rebuild! Fun! Completely worth it!

We started by trading for Dwill.

We continued by trading our future for Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, and KG.

Trading for Kyrie is a Dwill move.

I'd trade Lin + Book + RHJ + Raps pick max for Kyrie.

Personally I'd rather stay the course and build slowly but Russell/Levert are cornerstones and Lin/Booker are expendable.

1. We have no assets to get him without hurting our nucleus.

2. Why are we trading for an injury prone PG?

3. Did we learn nothing from Deron Williams? Billy King?

It depend on who you trade him for....Kyrie is 25 and unless you believe you are giving up assets that will be better at 25, this is a no brainer.

And yes, I'd trade DLo + LeVert for Kyrie because I don't think either will ever be franchise type of players.,,Both will be good but Not Kyrie good.

KG, Joe Johnson, Pierce were all past their prime..They weren't 25 year old...Kyrie has the best ball-handle in the entire league and is massively marketable in Brooklyn...He's on another level in compare to even DWill when you think about it...

You know how you said Kyrie is arguably a top 5 player? DWill was arguably the best PG. It was between him and CP3. And DWill was 26 when we traded for him.

Kyrie has 3 years left of max money, then he can walk in unrestricted free agency. You know what we had to do to keep DWill from walking in FA? Trade the sixth pick (Lillard) for Gerald Wallace (who we also had to pay $ to keep) and then trade half our future for Joe Johnson. Then trade for PP and KG to justify the JJ trade. A **** **** show to keep a UFA.

DLo and LeVert are both on rookie deals, at 2 and 3 years left respectively. Then the nets have their RFA rights. We have potentially 6-7 years of DLo, and 7-8 of LeVert. Whether or not you believe they can be franchise players, we still have PLENTY of time to build a study roster that is ready to compete before we start trying to trade them for a superstar. (We wont)

No, it's a Marbury for Kidd move. Or Harden to Houston move. Or Webber to Sacramento.

Kyrie is 25, signed for 2 more non-option years to a crazy friendly contract even after his 15% trade kicker.

So cool, we traded the farm for D Wont and it bombed, especially because King followed it up with trade after trade of atrocity and let Deron play GM. So then I guess we should never trade for a star again, because Deron... :noway:

We all agree that Kyrie isn't likely to be traded to Brooklyn because there will be team out there with better assets to offer Cavs....But make no mistake, Marks makes a deal if it means trading LeVert/DLo for Kyrie..

Kyrie is a young super-star...Most super-stars are in their 30's or late 20's with massive contract..Kyrie signed his deal before the TV money came in, so he's very cheap for his status in the league....It's highly unlikely anyone on Brooklyn current roster will ever be a super star like Kyrie.

This post is ridiculous on so many levels.

1. Our young nucleus is either mediocre or completely unknown. You trade any of them if needed to get Kyrie if you keep the cap open and retain just one of them and most of our picks.

2. He is not injury prone, this is just lazy parroting. In the last 4 seasons, 3 of them he's played over 70 games. He's not an iron man, but let's not make him into Gallo.

3. Oh yeah, Deron Williams and Billy King. So let's never trade for a player ever again unless it's a bad contract attached to "assets", because we're the cheated on librarian so scared that every dirty evil man is going to ruin our lives again so we just live with 6 cats and pleasure ourselves with carrots the rest of our lives. Lol.

We probably don't have the assets to get him anyway, because I don't see Marks entertaining the idea of trading Russell a month after he acquired him, it's likely bad business league wide. But some of you guys are funny man. This is a 25 year old top 20 player, arguably top 10, who grew up a huge Nets fan, in West Orange, playing his high school ball in Elizabeth. This isn't even a question, just on paper if you can get him for something like Russell/RHJ/Tor 1st and an expiring you do it so fast Dan Gilbert's head spins and spills Mikhail Prokhorov's Stoli and juice.

We didn't have to do any of that, Billy King was just a fuktard who was so incompetent he shouldn't have been allowed to run a small local deli, let alone an NBA franchise in the biggest media market in the world.

King could have had a roster with Harden, Batum and Millsap, or any other combo of realistic gets had he just had a normal brain.

And who knows if DLo or LeVert, or RHJ or Allen, or any of these young guys ever become just once in awhile All Star snubs, let alone a player of Kyrie's level.

I'm not saying to trade everything for him, but if it simply cost DLo, RHJ and a pick or 2, it's a complete no brainer. It's not giving up the farm to get him, when our farm is a petting zoo.

Dude, No. Trading for Kyrie is a Dwill move.

Trading for DLo is a Harden to Houston move. It NOT soley about talent. Its about what comes after.

Here's why.

Harden was traded on his rookie contract. He signed a 5 year extension to his deal immediately upon landing in Houston. 1 year left on his rookie deal PLUS a 5 year extension. The rockets had a 6 year window before Harden hit UFA. They could make moves accordingly. They just happened to rebuild quickly.

DWill, like Kyrie was in the middle of his post rookie deal, and a few years a way from UFA (the same contract that Harden was still 1 year away from even starting in Houston). They had a 2 year window before their star hit FA. And they had to make moves accordingly.

Trading for kyrie means making follow up moves to keep Kyrie in RFA.

Or, you can have 7 years of DLo. The answer is painfully obvious.

Are you kidding? We did all that and we STILL almost lost DWill to Dallas. Billy is stupid, but he HAD to make those trades with Portland and Atlanta.

King couldn't have gotten Harden. DWill would've walked before we had the opportunity to trade for Harden. He didn't hit the trade block until September. We needed to trade for joe Johnson in July.

Every stupid move we made before the Celtics trade was 100% made with the intention of pleasing, and keeping DWill FA.

And we still almost lost him to Dallas. How can you say we didnt have to make those moves?

Totally agree. Even if the Nets COULD offer a package which entices the Cavs, we would be left with a subpar supporting cast and couldn't satisfy Kyrie.

Our best shot at getting a player like Kyrie Irving is continuing to build organically for the next two years, steadily improve and prepare a solid free agent pitch in 2019.

Russell is our best asset and we just got him for a salary dump and a late 1st round pick. What does that say about his value around the league?

We dont have the assets to even get in the Kyrie conversation even if the entire team was on the table. Let's be slightly realistic here.

Come on, bro. What has Kyrie done on his own to be even worthy of a Kidd comparison? He's a great scoring PG but he's not moving a needle for us to win a title by himself and there isn't any rebuilding process with a 25 year old superstar so what team is he inheriting?

Why would we trade D-Lo for him instead of trying to pair him with D'angelo?

How are we winning anything with cap killing deals with Mozgov, Carroll, Nicholson, D-won't sitting on the books?

What stars are we going to magically pair with Kyrie before Oct 17th?

A deal today makes no sense. We're better off staying the course and awaiting Bagley, Zion, RJ Barrett in 2019. Kyrie will be a free agent then. Let's offer him a seasoned squad of Russell/LeVert/Whitehead/Allen/Zion or Bagley in 2019 and watch us contend in the East by 2020.

None of those specific trades had to be made. He had a cache of assets like no other. Moves had to be made, but not those moves. He gave up a treasure chest of A+++ assets to bring in a bucket of grade D garbage and expired milk.
