Dzon Dilindzer wrote:if what anthony puccio reported is true, those players can only be big guns like durant, kyrie or even deandre and dinwiddie... its easier to fire the coach, then to trade all-star players... but if its guys like temple, prince, allen, then you trade them, youre not firing the coach... of course, he might lost the dressing room and atkinson himself knew it, so they decided its for the best to leave... but its beeing said "some players"

so yeah, its the big guns if its true

I think its going to end up being both....

bring in a coach who can manage stars/egos

consolidate the role players into a star

No idea who we go after but D'Antoni is most likely going to be available in the off-season. Ty Lue is a guy who's coached Kyrie and has a ring. Unless we're going for an under the radar guy, they have to be the top 2 names floating out there.

We're in dangerous territory now. Botching this could be a disaster. Kenny was a good coach put in a very tough situation this year

I'd think it would be Lue.

I'd love if it were becky hammond

I’m not feeling any of these choices to be honest. But I get it.

Honestly I still don't know what to make of this but clearly something has been going on and it may not have anything to do with Kyrie, but the media and fans have already made up their minds.

This season is a disaster. We can officially say it now. A complete disaster
I think there was only one person who was in complete denial about that. He'll still probably find a way to deny it.

I can't lie, today has made me very nervous about what's happening. It seems so messy.

Based on LeVert's comments, he wasn't one of the guys that pushed to get Kenny fired. I believe him.

the gritty nets era is over

the mecenary era is starting

KEnny is just the first dominoe. mark is going to package a bunch of these guys for a star.

i thought we had the perfect balance of stars to win now but depth and assets to sustain beyond that

Will Jacque Vaughn run the same offense or will he change it up?

Some of you guys are overreacting. Yes this year has been trash. But how many of you guys honestly think Kenny was the one to take us to the next level? Even with KD/Kyrie I had my doubts that Kenny was that guy. He had too many flaws that will cost us down the line. I think he's the perfect assistant coach but his X and Os aren't the best. He played guys like Prince and Chandler much longer than they should have been and over other guys who put in more effort like Kurucs.

The players were not putting in the effort , and we clearly seen this during the games and many of us has called out the effort of this team. Hats off to Kenny for the great job he has done here and helping payers reach their potential. He's a great develop but as far as championship pedigree, I don't think he's that guy. My only issue with it is the timing. But he seemed like he wanted out as well. It was only a matter of time, and I rather it be now then it happen after a complete meltdown in the ECF or something. I wholeheartedly trust Marks and I know he will get the best guy available. He hired Marks and for great reason, he's done a fine job.

the idea that "kenny lost the team" or anything like that is also nonsense. and just highlights again how this board is just full of the most emotional, knee-jerk fans of any board on this forum but a longshot. The idea that this team is somehow different after the all-star break is also absurd. This team is playing the exact same basketball with the exact same high effort, with the exact same buy-in to the system and coaching. since the ASB:

-Overtime loss to philly
-Blowout win over the hornets
-2 point loss to orlando (lost on final possession)
-4 point loss to wiz (chance to tie on final possession)
-Blowout loss to the hawks
-3 point loss to miami (chance to tie/win on final possession)
-Overtime win over boston, huge comeback
-blowout loss to memphis

Since the break we have played 5 playoff teams. 4 of those were super tight, 2 went to overtime, and we beat boston. We had a blowout win over the hornets and loss to atlanta. and then the obvious loss on 2nd of a back to back with travel after an OT game.

yeah the atlanta loss in that fashion is inexcusable, but outside of that we have played extremely competitive against very good teams. The only real letdown is kyrie is hurt and we have no one we can count on to close those games out.

like did you expect us to go 5-0 vs. playoff team with no Kyrie?

You see what I was talking about now? It really sucks. I loved Kenny and while I was disappointed with certain moves he made - I felt that the good outweighed the bad. But I saw the bad signs. From the players to the coaches, no one was happy.

You could very well be right... but i just dont see it. i didnt see a team that didnt buy in and i saw a team that loved their coach.

Although maybe it was more of a "kenny is a great dude and i love him but we need someone else to get a ring" type thing?

Who weve heard from so far were suprised and upset (levert/harris)

Yes.

I mean, we have to look at the development and the constant up and downs with Allen, Kurucs, Claxton (he should be playing) and obviously, the newcomers who would have a “voice” would be Prince and DJ.

Guys who’ve been on the short end of the Kenny stick for quite sometime.

Based on how the team has looked this year is it surprising? If the record was flipped and we were 34-28 then maybe the perception world be different.

i think kenny is a top 5 coach in this league. i thought he was elite in all the things you criticize him for.

i think talent wise (sans kyrie) this team is bottom 2-3. last year we were bottom 5 or 6. Kenny had this team playing well above its heads

The only thing I remember about him being a coach is that when he was coaching orlando, they sucked

Vaughn is a lame duck. 0.0% chance he coaches next year.

and low key marks may not care if we tank at this point. im 100% anti tanking... but if your going to trade everyone then it doesnt really matter if you do or dont

There is 0% chance it will be Ty Lue. Kyrie would never want to be coached by Ty Lue again.

I’m hoping it’s either going to be Dave Joerger or Adrian Griffin from the Raps.

i believe mike dantoni will be a candidate to become new hc of the brooklyn nets

and i think he will be interested in joining the brooklyn given it will likely be his last chance to win a chip... if cp3 didnt get injured, they wouldve had really god chance of beating the gsw and im positive they wouldve beat cavs in the finals

durant and kyrie might enjoy his run n gun basketball

Kyrie didn’t respect Ty Lue in Cleveland. 0% chance he would want him in Brooklyn.

I’m pretty sure Kevin Durant is smart enough to know Mike Brown isn’t a championship caliber coach. Same with Mark Jackson.

they dont need to respect them really or think they are championship calibur. they just need someone who is going to let them do what they want. they are puppets and ego managers.

you wont see a real coach, it will be a manager

League source tells Yahoo Sports Kenny Atkinson wasn’t keen on coaching KD and Kyrie next season: “Kenny pushed for the parting just as much, if not more than Brooklyn https://sports.yahoo.com/kenny-atkinsons-tenure-with-nets-comes-to-its-natural-conclusion-as-kd-kyrie-era-nears-014215773.html

I knew it.

Deep down, he didn’t enjoy coaching a team that would have heavy expectations. I don’t think it came down to a player outing him. I think he wanted to leave because he knew he wasn’t ready for those expectations and probably had thoughts of it despite coaching us to a 28-34 record.

I don’t think he knew how to get to guys who already became somewhat established but not fully developed like Allen, Kurucs, etc. I feel like the loss against the Grizzlies solidified his departure.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
