All this talk about rebuilding because Kidd is gone is premature. Harris and Diop plus the picks can make the Nets very competitive as is. Lets not forget the team is currently in a playoff spot

DD is reporting that there is another option which would send george to GSW and fit in Nellieball and restore some value while GSW sends us Patrick O'bryant. Wow i would love for this to happen.

I don't see the Mavericks getting involved with GSW.

I really hope this deal goes down, I'd hate to see how the Mavericks chemistry if Devin Harris came back to Dallas.

Big Update from Al Iannzzone

http://njmg.typepad.com/zzone/2008/02/k ... .html#more

I still think this deal will get done in the way we first heard with either KVH or George, more likely George. This whole situation just makes him look stupid and greedy. Dallas is definitely motivated to get it done after getting beat by Phoenix last night (who was without Shaq) and I think they are at the point where they realize that Dirk needs more help.

The Stackhouse situation worries me. That could stall this whole process because I think a major hurdle in negotiations was when they realized they could get him back. If he comes out of the deal I guess they could always give KVH more money (and us a bigger Expiring) LOL.

Im really neutral about the Kidd deal on one hand I understand that we need to do it for the future of the franchise and that were getting absolutley amazing value possibly more than a 1$ for our buck on the other hand I hate cheering for a rebuilding franchise, and this team has been playing really well with Nenad back just in time for our post all star turn around and in my opinion we have all the things needed to surprise any elite team in the play-off.
Besides that I really hope Kidd realises that he aint gonna win a championship in Dallas the Mavs dont have nearly enough low post power in Dampier to stop San Antonip, the new Lakers and the new Suns.

I will say this the cancellation of the trade couldnt have happened at a worst time it took me a while to accept this trade and realise that it might be for the best........only to wake up and find out that George decided to block it, now I also find out that Stack possibly killed it :(

If Kidd has to stay it won't be nearly as good as it used to be.

The relationship between Kidd and Thorn took a major blow , i don't see how it can be repaired .

I don't think Thorn really cares as much as Cuban in his situation. He knows Kidd is a rare talent and becomes an expiring contract this summer. Who knows, Kidd might be wanted more come draft time. Kidd knows he tried. He knows it definitely wasn't Thorn's fault.

No way dude, he knows Thorn tried and besides Kidd know's that if he stays here he will get traded in the summer, which will make his value that much better because 1)he becomes a 20m expiring and 2)it will follow the anual Dallas playoff flop and our anual all star turn around and solid play-off showing.

I don't know on one hand of course we'll miss Kidd very very badly but on the other Kidds behavior this year has been so bad .

I just want it to end , and this way isn't a bad one . He'll get what he wants and we don't get screwed .

Also thorn doenst give a damn how Kidd feels about him as long as he is a professional and continues to play the way he can. Thorn just cares about what is good for the Nets and the Owner.

This Dallas trade would have been good for the Nets.

Keeping Kidd and getting Miller would be good for the Nets.

IMO getting ride of VC will be good for the NETS.

Agreed 100%. Thorn will probably even make a move for either O'neal or Miller to make it look like we are trying to do everything possible for him. Thorn would rather Kidd bitch for 2 months and get less value for him at the draft then look like a fool right now. We will see what happens here but I think the Mavs are getting more pot committed to Jkidd with every passing moment. By the end of this thing I wouldn't be surprised if Cuban just pays the damn luxury tax, sends us KVH as the big expiring, and maybe we let them keep one of their first round picks or throw in a guy like Boone. In the end I think that would probably be the best for both parties.

KVH (big expiring)
Harris
Eddie Jones (take some salary off them)
Diop (expiring)
1st round pick this year
1st round pick 2010

for
Boone (help them replace Diop and give them incentive to spend the extra $$$)
Kidd
Allen

IMO that is better for the Nets anyways because Boone loses value without Kidd anyways and this way we get an even bigger expiring to pursue FA this summer. Plus with Kristic back, SWAT, Swift, and Diop (not to mention Magloire, we are deep enough in the front court to lose Boone.

Dirk has help (Harris, Howard, and Stack). Unfortunately he had to play without them last night. The Mavs played a great game without 2nd and 4th best scorers.

To be honest Stack really screwed things up by opening his mouth about the waiver and re-signing with the Mavericks. If Stackhouse can't come back to the team then the deal will have to change. Stackhouse will not be apart of the trade if he's not coming back. That now leaves the trade with two bumps to hurdle in George and Stackhouse. I'd have to say things aren't looking on the up and up for this trade, unless KVH and Hassel are both in the mix sans George and Stackhouse.

1050 just said Stack may not be included in this trade.

EDIT*******

I just went to the Dallas Forum.

It maybe if he gets traded, he cant go back to Mavs.

I will wait for News Update again and see if it changes.

Video doesnt work for me.
Anyway right now the only way the deal goes down is if Cuban decides to sign KVH which is a very big plus for us but a HUGE hit for you guys.
We're not taking Eddie Jones because he's not an expiring contract and now that Stacks out of the trade there really isnt an alternative.
The ball's in Cuban's court he gets to make the call- how much does title contention mean to him.
