But... I thought that same money effectively got spent when Crabbe came on board.

This is completely off the charts, how it all played out. I've never seen the like, before.

Final Stats and accolades for Russell on the year:

21.1 Points per game (+5.6, Career High)
7.0 Assists per game (+1.8, Career High)
4.0 Rebounds per game (+0.1, Career High)
1.2 Steals per game (+0.4)
3.1 Turnovers per game (no change)

43.4 FG % (+2.0, Career High)
36.9 3PT % (+4.5, Career High)
78.0 FT % (+4.0)

19.4 PER (+4.2, Career High)
54.3 TS% (+3.4, Career High)
3.4 BPM (4.4, Career High)
1.71 RPM (+.68, Career High)

NBA All-star, NBA Player of the week (Jan)

Top 10: 3P FG Made (234), Assists (563), Assists per game (7)... he was also 14th in points scored.

Remarkable season, career highs across the board. Not only did he increase his scoring and assists but his shooting percentages did not dip with volume (he actually increase his shooting to career highs) and his turnovers did not go up. Thats not just someone getting more volume on a bad team, thats a Bradley Beal level year 4 type step towards being a star.

Only 3 other guys posted 21/7/4 this season: James Harden, Lebron James, and Jrue Holiday (Kyrie just missed with 6.9 assists)

Only 5 games, but DLo has played some of his best ball in April:

24.2 ppg 46.3 FG% 48.8 3p% (8 attempts!) 92.9 FT% 6.4 reb 6.0 Ast 3.2 Tov 1.0 stl 7.4 +/-

59.8 TS% 28.8 usage

It would be amazing if he can continue this kind of play in the playoffs.

My only thing is that D'Angelo absolutely cannot have those 5-6TO games. I'm fine with 3 TOs, playoff basketball won't be easy but he needs to really be prudent with the ball.

Great year by D'lo, nice to see him have a breakout year. I always believed in him throughout his time with the Lakers and was pissed when he got traded. I still follow him through all his highlights and lurk your guys forum. Dude is a frustrating player sometimes, but he looks to be figuring it out. Next step for him IMO is being smarter with his shot selection. That'll up his efficiency quite a bit. I think his ceiling can def be a 50/40/90 player.

I look forward to watching him and the Nets in the playoffs(since my team is a giant cluster **** right now). Good luck

Yeah and some of those turnovers during theast stretch have been bad careless turnover too. He's going to make high risk passes, but gotta be more selective in the playoffs

Career highs across the board and he made me eat crow. I was so hard on him but he has shut me up, I could not ask for more from him. Now I just want to see improvements on his turnovers and % .. he still only 22 he will definitely get better and I can't wait to see his full potential . I definitely see a 25/7/4 line for him at his prime with a 45/38/80 % line. Very excited for our future.

as far as turnovers, he did improve, his usage went way up, but his turnovers did not

“[We] had to give up a really talented young player in D’Angelo Russell. And congratulations to him making the [All-Star team],” Johnson told reporters Tuesday night.

“Also, we saw D’Angelo mature. He wasn’t mature like he is now. He always had the talent to score, but he was immature. Now he’s grown up and that’s why he’s an All-Star.”

Why does this sound to me like a five year old trying to explain the stock market?

It would be amazing if someone with time could dig up some of the old threads from 6 months to a year ago and provide everyone’s greatest hits and misses, especially with respect to DLo and RHJ.
