I think if Kyrie signs an extension, it's 3 additional years, year 3 is an ETO, year 4 partially guaranteed for about $14 mill.

If not, he's traded for the '27 and '29 picks, with little to no protection.

Don't fall a sleep on this. Pop's/RC will work with Marks and Pelinka. Couple 2nd round picks can get it done for San An from whats been said.

I'm pulling real hard for LBJ and Clutch here. I'll settle for unprotected 2027 pick alone.

Why would SA take that garbage contract for 2nd round picks?

Would be a stupid move. I think it would take 1 or more likely two picks to take that contract. 47 mill is no joke.

Hampers any flexibility to do any other trade.

They missed on Luka and Trea. Booker and rest of them pieces not enough to contend for the PO spot, let alone chip.

Thats why he's here to begin with. He knows better whats up.

Yeah I agree.

I've said many times if I'm a Pelicans or Raptors fans I probably don't want to do it.

Phoenix is different because they seem to have reached their ceiling and CP3 is getting old.

Very possible Suns fall off a cliff and Booker demands a trade somewhere else. Suns need KD.

But I just don't see it as a worthwhile trade for us.

The thing is, if CP is "ready to fall off a cliff soon" is an aging injury prone KD and Booker with little depth and few picks over the next 7 years enough? Or is it better to keep young core and add young guys, MLE guys, etc?

Opens up a 2-3 year window.

What more can the Suns do to get better? Unless you think Booker will keep making strides.

I don't think the Lakers give us both picks.

I mean I wouldn't really expect them to be out supporting the kids when they're throwing their temper tantrums. Its w/e. They've already let everyone know how they really feel through their actions.

Roll it back. These young guys made their first playoffs last year. Book, Ayton, Bridges, Cam get better every year. Add on through draft, MLEs, etc..keep building, sustain a future...don't cash in future for a possible 2 year window banking on 3 guys, two old and injury prone.

Exactly.

You should keep building and angle yourself towards finding CP3's replacement for the next few years.

Well I don't blame you. But personally, I don't think you can win a title with the current roster.

CP3 is almost done.

Still blowing it up for a snake like KD not worth it.

Honestly I've been watching the Suns for years...give me a competitive young team with guys the Suns drafted that I like watching grow and get better every year, fight for the playoffs and playoff wins, etc,

over cashing in those guys I like and all your future picks for a "chance" at a championship for a couple years (I still don't think they are better than GS, LAC and possibly Denver, Memphis and even Minnesota if those teams are healthy). They'd still have a tough time getting out of the west and probably wouldn't have a top 4 seed because they'd inevitably have injuries to KD and/or Paul. Book usually misses 14-28 games or so in a full season too.

I watch for 6-8 months of entertainment as a fan. Feeling heartbreak is part of being a fan. Only one team wins a championship and even if you think you have a team that can win it all, you need things to break your way, stay healthy, have luck, win those close games that could go either way....even a top team has maybe a 20% chance unless you are those stacked Warriors teams...or possibly some of LeBron's older teams...maybe the Miami ones, but they still ended up losing to Dallas and SA....SA nearly twice.

So even without championship, I enjoy watching homegrown players fight and maybe have that punchers chance than trying to kind of buy a championship, especially with something like this where you cash in everything for a second older injury prone player. Nothing is guaranteed.

I am not a new age "championship or bust" guy. I don't get a ring.

I'm an AZ Wildcats fan and they won a championship in 97 and it was great, but they pretty much sucked or just were not their normal very competitive selves for a lot of years between like 2011 and now....and a number of years before that.

That championship doesn't really matter to me for long...but watching a team that can't go anywhere at all and being pretty bad for a number of years sucks. For me a championship doesn't really make years of suckage worth it.

I know that's a very rare opinion but that's just how I feel watching for entertainment. I don't have a legacy. I wouldn't spend time arguing about rings. I don't get a trophy or ring. I'd be very happy for the players...but you never know what happens with a young growing team either. We blew the Haliburtion pick by taking Smith...some of us even wanted Bane. Had we made a pick like that and had him Haliburton with Book, Bridges, Cam, Ayton with remaining upside, add some vets, who knows? Especially in a few years when teams like the Warriors, Clips and Lakers get old.

Well thats a completely valid opinion.

Hope you guys don't get stuck with KD tbh.

Pardon me for this non-bball post, but here's a non-bball post:

Novak Djokovic, in the next few hours, is poised to resume his chase upon Rafael Nadal's historic, awesome, Grand Slam count.

Context-- Djokes is one of the greatest sportsmen I've ever seen in my life, someone who's historically been my hero, and yet... what a complete, fluffing arsehole he's been, recently.

Man, I don't know, I don't know, I DON'T KNOW.

He's enjoying this crap.

He knows him and Kyrie’s dumbasses got their wish. He’s saving face.

Kyrie getting his wish is him receiving a 4 year max with a no trade clause.

The Nets wish is probably trading him to a Western conference team and getting a solid return.

Remember, Shams tweeted out that Kyrie’s camp were seemingly willing to accept some form of a 2 year contract plus an option. If that’s what ultimately happens, it’s both sides clearly meeting in the middle of the road.

Sean Marks is that you

This is exactly what I’ve been saying.

Every team is undefeated in the off-season and has aspirations of doing much better than they probably will do during the upcoming season.

Six months from now when things aren’t going as planned for would be contenders, you better believe that their tune would change.

Trading KD and even Kyrie right now is trading when the market is most expensive (cf. Timberwolves trade for Gobert). If the Nets are truly determined to make a trade and maximize their return, then it’s in their best interest to wait until December or January.

Y’all need to chill with these theories. Not everything these players do is based on an ulterior motive.
