Pacers are stretching Ellis, so they're definitely clearing cap... for olynyk?

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread II
Yea but offering Allen Crabbe ridiculous money turned out to be a mistake in hindsight, a mistake that we thankfully didn't have to pay for. As you already know, a KCP max would be horrible too. I like Powell as a role player but for anywhere near the max, I would stay the **** away. At least Otto Porter has had a full season an elite role player on a good team, and he's a guy who has shown big improvement from his rookie year to now. Even then, I'm not comfortable with us paying him max contract but I could at least understand it. Unless Powell makes a huge jump, paying him max is insanity.vincecarter4pres wrote:DarkXaero wrote:Norman Powell? Max? Eh it could happen lol. We offered Allen Crabbe ridiculous money, Porter the max, maybe KCP. Max might be a bit much, but that dude can flatout ball. I think he'll beast this year in an expanded role with bigger minutes. I can see something silly like 4/85+ for him.
In his second season he put up 16/4/2 on super efficiency in 18 games as a starter, in 32mpg on medium usage and he has a great all around game.
I can definitely see him as a target next summer.

Yeah I agree, I would vomit at a KCP max or even huge money and wouldn't condone max for Powell right now, but if he makes a jump I don't think it's a fluke or contract year shenanigans, he can really play. He's another reason Toronto is going to want to dump Val and Carroll, so they can match offers on him next summer.

Knowing Ainge, he's looking for an asset for them even though he desperately needs to unload at least one of the 3 to get to max room lol.
Think he's going to have to suck it and ship a guy like Bradley to Sacto for nothing.
Not that it would ever happen, but I'd ship them RHJ in a heartbeat for Brown lol.

I saw so many Nets fans freak out when JJ Redick and Amir Johnson signed to Philly but this is why you wait and stay quiet. Even if we don't land Olynyk, this could be a good salary dump option.

No way Ainge sends us a good player for free unless it was his absolute last resort, he doesn't want to devalue our pick. Although sending them to Sacto devalues that pick...
There have to be other teams with cap room though.

I don't think he cares about that. As long as we're rebuilding. He could be viewing us as a team that dealt our best player for a polarizing lottery pick. Still nothing to hinder a Top 10 pick. The trade benefits their ability to sign Hayward and stay under the tax which is more important.
He wants an an asset? Let him choose any non-guaranteed deals we have. I wouldn't offer Dinwiddie, though.

Come on, push a little, Jaylen Brown/Marcus Smart for RHJ/Kilpatrick!

Would love to have Bradley and/or Crowder. Smart would be good too, even though I hate him.Mkdaman1818 wrote:
That being said, we have no chance of getting any of their players. Ainge is a dick and wouldn't want to strengthen us while he has our unprotected pick. Not to mention, he'll be looking to get back picks for those players.

i doubt they give up brown. smart i think is expiring? Bradley i would be interested in.
but we'll have to give them "something". do we have a 2nd? maybe we can get their late 1st so next year becomes a pick swap instead of us giving our pick out right

Sadly this is looking more like a S&T with Utah.

the problem is we have nothing to give up for those guys except for russell/rhj/levert who are basically younger versions of those guys

I doubt greedy ass Ainge is getting a true asset out of this.
Either he's going to send one of Bradley or Crowder to Utah in a S&T or he'll ship one of them to a team with cap and wrap it up himself.
I don't think Smart affords them max cap on his own though. It's close, but no cigar.
