The clowns on the GB are trying to say Durant lost a step.
If what we saw is Durant after losing a step, he is by far a top 3 player and it isn't even close. And Irving is going to be All NBA first team if he stays healthy.

His traditional game doesn’t mesh well with other ball-dominant guards. I’ve said it before but I feel Caris is a more natural fit next to KD and Kyrie but it’s better for the team for Caris to run the 2nd unit.
When Dinwiddie has the ball, I want to see him shoot the 3 or attack the basket quickly; and when he doesn’t have the ball, be a screener who pops or dives to the paint after his picks.
His two drives at the start of the half are exactly what you want. Quick attacks off the inbound.
I'm not sure we should draw any conclusions yet because we haven't seen what other teams going to throw at us. Din allows KD and Kyrie go to work with no cheating and double teams and quick rotations. Three ball handling guys on the floor takes our starting unit to unguardable level.
I’m not drawing conclusions from this game; I’m stating my beliefs based on how I understand their games. I’ve felt this way for a while have and expressed it here a few times.
My comment was not a shot at Din and wasn’t meant to spark debate about whether Caris is better than Dinwiddie or vice versa.
With that said, Dinwiddie doesn’t “allow” Kyrie and KD to do anything nor does Levert. Neither are good enough shooters to keep the defense honest. If anything, Joe is the one who keeps the defense at bay because of his shooting ability.
Slashing in fact is precisely what would add to our offensive potency because in addition to whatever KD and Kyrie choose to do on offense and Joe’s gravity stretching the defense, they would also have to make sure no screeners get open dives to the basket off of slip screens and backdoors.
None of this goes against a 3 ball-handler based offense. It’s completely complementary to it, especially at a time when so many players are versatile and have a wide range of skills.
Being a slasher doesn’t preclude Dinwiddie or anyone else from doing anything else. Maybe to be more clear, I could’ve said when Dinwiddie is off the ball, he could be more effective by adopting a slasher mindset. That doesn’t mean he should not drive the ball when he has it or shoot when he’s open. His play in the 3rd quarter was great and represents exactly what I was talking about.

I'm so PTSD'd from the last several years that I'm expecting to see the lead evaporate and yet the lead just stays at 30 points.

You remember when we all used to argue if KD to BK was realistic or not?
Good times lol

I’m sure he’ll come out soon. Is Chiozza active for tonight’s game? If so, he can definitely run the show for the last several minutes.

How many times have we embarrassed that board?
- Lopez couldn’t snag a good prospect and was never going to start on a contender.
- Russell could never develop into a winning all-star guard.
- We could never be in the conversation for KD, Kyrie over the Knicks, Clippers, etc.
- KD could never come back 100% or even play opening night.
- Nets could never rebuild before the Celtics win multiple rings with Tatum, Brown, IT
LOL

Dinwiddie is basically being asked to change his entire game for this team.
Hes said several times he wants to be in the "Draymond Green" role.
I think he realizes its the only way this team can work. Somebody had to make a big sacrifice.

I'd like to revisit this conversation after we face top guns. Not saying you wrong just to evaluate Nash as a coach and his view, system, rotation etc. As of right now I like this starting unit.

Lol people are just overanalyzing KD to say he lost a step. If it was any other player they wouldn't be saying it.

I'm fine with his playing this role. I think he'll get a lot better offensively as the comfort level rises. 9PTS 5REBS 4ASTS with excellent defense is solid. I think he'll probably give us 13ppg a night with plenty of boards assists and steals.

Fair enough.
What I meant was that you know you’re mainly going to get hot takes there, so not going there helps preserve your mental health.
