-pointed out all the athletes who have said it (Adam jones, sabbathia, villenuave, etc...)
-pointed out the BOSTON GLOBE article that did a series on if boston is a racist sports town (spoiler: yup!)
-referenced quotes from dan shaungnessey and other boston media who have spoken to this

it isnt some secret.

And the issue is that you don't even have folks addressing his concerns, but attacking him for daring to mention it. Like as if it's some big secret. Are all Boston fans racist? Hell no. Does the city have a series of well documented incidents of individuals commiting acts of racism against Black athletes, going back to when someone took a **** in Bill Russell's bed? Yes. I don't know why some ppl don't want to acknowledge actual concerns, it doesn't make the situation any better, by being defensive about it means you're not trying to be apart of the solution.

You would think that the response would be, as echoed by a poster on the Celtics forum, "I hope fans give him hell on Friday, but any racism towards Kyrie shouldn't be tolerated or condoned." That right there is all that any decent person needs to say about the situation.

Nope. It's **** Kyrie for daring to even mention it

The ones who wont say ""I hope fans give him hell on Friday, but any racism towards Kyrie shouldn't be tolerated or condoned." are the same ones who will be out there dropping N-bombs.

They are upset because they are being called out. we see it all the time.

The ones who aren't addressing the actual weight of what Kyrie said definitely are apart of the problem. He didn't call anyone racist, but he said he hopes it stays basketball related and doesn't devolve into racial slurs being thrown at him. How anyone can get upset about that is beyond me. The rational, sane position for anyone should be, "well yeah. I agree."

yet you have people pissed off at him even more now....seems like this defensiveness is not coming from a good place.

On a semi related note, our sister club, The Liberty are one of the top teams in the WNBA right now btw. Ionescu and Betnijah Laney have been killing it.

We already saw two posters over there calling for violence against Kyrie. Is it really that serious? I mean, hell I hate Deron Williams but I never would wish harm against him just because he was an ass hole while he was here.

Going back to Korver's comments on white privilege years ago, that forum has just been showing its true colors more and more in the worst way. I wish it was about Kyrie but it's some deeper **** when it comes down to it.

Like I literally have no problem if you guys boo Kyrie's ass off every time he touches the ball. Go for it. Playing in a hostile environment is great for all parties involved. But seeing people call him scum and hoping that one of your players injures him for saying basically that he doesn't want to be called racial slurs over a basketball game says to me that you are right.

No, I don't mean to say ISO plays should be eliminated. My thought is that we not beating Bucks Lakers without role players being involved, it'll change entire game plan and player reactions.

Either Kyrie is a genius or an imbecile. I'm not sure which and often times there's a thin line between the two so it's not always easy to discern. Ultimately we'll know by the results of Game 3.

This week should have been all about basketball and that virtuoso the Nets painted in Game 2 to run the Celtics out of the building, but instead, with just a few words, Kyrie changed the entire narrative to one of racism in Boston. That ass-kickin' we laid on Boston in Game 2 is a virtual afterthought now, but it should have been the dominant theme this week. Does that work for us or against us?

We'll have to wait to see the results of Game 3 to answer that question.

As for BIG PERK  , he's hated the Nets since day one and frankly he's a SAS wannabe.

He's one of those guys who thinks yelling the loudest = winning the argument.

Personally I pay no mind to that nitwit.

Well, here's the thing. Kyrie was being honest. It's going to be a hostile environment, he just hoped it wouldn't devolve into anything outside of basketball smack talk. He knows that crowd, and clearly has heard things said against other players, so I think he was signaling that he knows what he is in for.

I actually hope it spurs Boston fans to prove the narrative about them wrong and squash/condemn/report fans who take it to the extreme. Otherwise, I doubt this means much. Nets are an excellent road team, Boston is an inferior team to us in every way. I expect the Nets to go out on friday like sharks who smell blood in the water.

Oh there's no doubt Kyrie told the truth. Trust me, I'm well aware of Boston's history, particularly the fans, and I know it's shameful (to say the least). So I have no doubt Kyrie was just 'keeping it real' so to speak. I'm just not sure if kicking that hornets nest will be to our advantage or disadvantage in Boston, starting with Game 3?

But I'm a professional worrier, always worried about making mistakes. I feel like when you have a wild animal wounded, you don't poke the wounds, but quietly go in for the kill. BTW I'm not a hunter, it's just an analogy, but I digress. Anyway Proko made a good point, no matter how motivated they are it won't turn Tristan Thompson into KD, but it could inspire Jason Tatum to finally drop 40+ on us. Like I said, I'm a professional worrier. :o

That said I hope the Nets make it all moot and drop another beat-down on them in Game 3.

If that happens I believe Boston checks out for Game 4 and it's a sweep, which is what I'm hoping for.

To be honest, i dont think its more likely boston is sympathetic of Kyrie then it is they are motivated to beat us by it.

Tatum/Kyrie/Smart/RWIII are BFFS. Smart knows first hand about the racism. Tatum too. RW3 and Brown are SUPER active with BLM and anti-racist movements. They may not publicly back Kyrie because of the PR it would generate, but behind the seens they are nodding in agreement with Kyrie.

Trust me, Smart/Tatum want it to be about basketball, just like Kyrie

Those clowns in Boston want Marcus Smart and Robert Williams to hard foul Kyrie because he had the audacity to tell them to keep it about basketball and not call him the n word. if that isn't a big, HUGE tell I don't know what is.
