I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm not opposed to KCP. In general, I value the ability of players to "create", of which KCP has some. We basically go from last year where it's Lin or nothing as far as creating one-on-one on a consistent basis to having Lin, KCP, and Russell being able to do so. I'm just not sure that bringing KCP/Otto here both is a good idea financially/cap wise for us. And if it's just KCP, I'm not sure I like the idea of bumping CLV to SF to make room for KCP.

And that's not even addressing the Lin/Russell question.

Brian Windhorst just said on twitter that Detroit could renounce the rights to him

Not gonna lie, not giving KCP the max is gonna help a lot with me warming to the idea of him coming to Brooklyn. But if Detroit renounces his rights, would he take lesser money to play elsewhere?

I'm interested in him because he defends and shoots threes. The money however, is the issue, but again we really have nothing to lose

we need talent, and talent that buys in at that. he seems like a hardworker on the floor.

This is good news for us!

Assuming we strike out on Porter, we can get KCP as a consolation and at a discounted price since his agent has lost his leverage in negotiating for a near-max contract to his client...

Wow so KCP might get renounced and signed by us for considerably less than max? that's not a half bad outcome.

still eager to hear how the Porter saga will end now

Huh, and I thought Bradley was the least expendable of anyone on their trade block.

Well they got Morris in return, he's a bargain and fills a major need for Boston while opening up the necessary cap to sign Hayward outright.

This guarantees Detroit won't match KCP even if they don't renounce him, they can't match anything above around $13 mill in starting salary without shipping out Ish or a bad contract.

4 for like 64 could easily get it done if he's restricted, he gets renounced I bet he's like 4/50 and then I can get behind it.

4/60 would be a steal for KCP! We can still use the remaining 15M for a combination of Plumlee, Simmons, Green or any serviceable FA...

I understand that, but gotta wonder if they'll miss his defense going forward. And on a smaller note, he was a big reason they stole a game from the Cavs.

KCP at anything under what Crabbe got last year (or THJ this year) is a great pickup. He's clearly not as good of a shooter, but it looks like he can really D up.

yeah but here's where the waiting game with porter kind of screws us. Someone can swoop in and sign him quickly if Detroit renounces him.

can we pull the offer?

First things first, let's see if Detroit renounces him. Timing is everything.

Yeah I really thought Crowder was the easy choice. Crowder must've been a bigger part of their rebuild than we realize.

KCP and Marks can still verbally agree to a deal, and marks can beat any other teams offer if he chose to do so. The only reason KCP would pull out of a deal is because he's scared Marks will break his promise.

But why would KCP be scared marks would pull out? Remember Marks keeping his promise to sign Alexander and Ibeh at the end of the season?

I'm not going to say people around the league trust marks, because how the hell would I know. But I can't see any reason why they wouldn't. I don't think KCP would have a problem waiting a week to sign s hypothetical contract.

I'm a KCP fan... im just not a KCP on a near max/max deal fan.

if we can get him for close to what the knicks just signed THJ for, im all in.

Well I am/was a fan and supporter of trading for/signing KCP during the season and even entering the offseason. I like alot about him and I feel he could fit in quite well here back when we had the original roster. His skills are in line with what we're doing.

After the trade, I admit I felt that was a bit too much. Lin, Russell and KCP? Throw in Whitehead, Goodwin, Dinwiddie and IMO Levert as a 2... I thought that was simply too crowded.

Still think its a bit crowded but we'll see how it works. Lin won't be happy going to the bench, forget about sending Russell there... KCP? maybe... but would he want that?

Sit back and watch the show gents....
