If this is part of some deal to with Charlotte I'm definitely intrigued - maybe the Nets get some more picks? Something could make sense for all 3 sides

that's why it includes 5 expiring contracts

Agree. McCaw does nothing for me.

22 year old who has Ntilikina like D and potential offense wit an RFA bargain contract does nothing for you? I mean it won't be tough to keep him and lock him up.

Ball hawk defenders are a dime a dozen down in the G-League. McCaw had a good playoffs last year, but he's been abysmal this year. Hes not special at all. A lot of players look like studs when they're surrounded by good players. Dude plays on the warriors.

ball hawk defender wit 1 bad season and ability to perform in the playoffs aren't a dime a dozen. :)

I feel like all the talk is a smoke screen of sorts. I think we might see a trade with Carroll and Dinwiddie for a mid-first on the way.

Something where they go to Utah, Denver or Cleveland for example. Maybe Philly, but I don't think Marks would want to see him in division. Possibly Indiana.

If Dinwiddie gets traded for a mid first, Sean Marks should be fired.

WHY?

Cleveland would be crazy to do that, and the Nets don't need to take back those contracts.

For Spencer Dinwiddie and Joe Harris?

god this thread gives me a migraine. every trade being proposed is terrible for the Nets. :-?

"trade everyone for mid to late first round picks!!! trade for garbage dog ass players!! trade trade trade-"

wtf???? i'd rather the Nets do nothing if that's the best that's out there. McCaw? Thompson? jesus lord have mercy

I have a weird feeling that Dinwiddie does get traded. But not for a pick, rather than a move for Aaron Gordon or smth like that.

That's irrelevant. In order to complete the trade, you need the roster space to accommodate every player you receive in the deal, even if you plan on waiving them. So they would have to waive 4 other players not included in the deal first in order to make such a deal.

Indiana is shopping Jefferson's $4mil partial guarantee for a bad contract and a 1st. I doubt they'd go as far as taking Mozgov, but I'd make the offer. My guess is they will take 1 year max of salary back.

That being said, we should pick a path. Either try to dump salary in such a deal (e.g. Lin) or one up Indiana & be willing to take on salary dumps for up to 2 years. Our best bet may be to either bargain shop this summer or take on salary, tank for 2 more years, and go nuts in 2020 after 2 years of our own pick & DWill, Mozgov & Crabbe all off the books. As much as I'd like to see progress, the latter is the best bet for avoiding mediocrity. It would necessitate potentially trading some of our 2019 FA class (Dinwiddie, RHJ & DLO), but could allow for resigning Harris if he's cheap.

Except for the super-star Blake Griffin trade.

Seriously, what do you expect from the deadline? If it's quiet, it's more due to almost half the league being projected as a tax payer next season rather than the deadline being moved earlier. Nobody wants to add payroll.

Its everything, from buzz from the fans, the constant, will this start be moved from the media or the 100 rumors thrown out there online via websites and social media etc...

just not a lot of attention or dramatics thus far....

that Griffen trade happened in a flash, no build up(not that i care for but for speaking about the quiet trade deadline this year)

The Lou Williams extension is a good sign for us IMO. He’s only gonna make 8 mill a year, which is what we were afraid Joe Harris was gonna get. If Lou decided that 8 mill a year was the best he was gonna get, that means Harris most likely won’t get anywhere close to that money.

I think that by 3:01 today, Joe Harris is still a Net and we resign him in the off-season to a very reasonable deal.

We won't be going nuts in 2020 because no one is going to want to play here if the Nets continue to tank from now til 2020. that cap space will be air.
