More importantly, this is literally the first time DJ has played like this all season. He has had good games before, but nowhere near the level he played at tonight. If DJ can play even close to this level on a consistent level, it solves a lot of our problems.

My gut reaction is that he will not sustain what he did tonight. We need to trade Dinwiddie for a big man

Agreed. At this point in his career it's unrealistic and unfair to expect him to average 36 MPG. That said, indeed Dinwiddie is the only young commodity we have left with the value to bring us back a quality big to share the load with DJ. Despite tearing his ACL he still retains value for any rebuilding team's whose GM's liked him before he got hurt. Reason being, correct me if I'm wrong but the team that trades for him retains his Bird rights, so he can still be a piece that they build around.

The score is misleading. We only won by 10 because we let our foot off the gas, but for a change we came out and PLAYED MAD from the opening tip-off and led by over 30 at the half.

In the 3rd we opened the lead close to 40. :o

So with this being the second of back-to-backs we emptied the bench early and Indy made the score look respectable, but the game was anything but that. We finally said enough with these slow starts BS and proceeded to dismantle them.

BTW, "The Modfather" LOL ... that's awesome. 8-)

Alex Len was available. Dunno what he is thinking

Yeah, I don't love the potential fit of Len here, but purely as a talent I preferred him over Pelle for C depth. Marks really dragged his feet after the Harden trade, and it may have cost us a chance at both Alex and their other recent FA pickup, Jordan Bell.

It's like somebody laughed at Sean and said, "you'll never last a week with that bigman depth chart!" He replied under his breath, "hold my beer".

I'm not a Len fan either, but I would have held my nose because he's a veteran. Pelle is not an NBA player

Yep, any team that trades for him will want to be one that can offer him the most money in free agency, so his bird rights have value

Dinwiddie is most likely making 20 million a season in free agency, we can't keep him

So is Nash going to get credit for last night or nah?

-Starting Brown makes a difference in the backcourt. Keep him there next to Kyrie, let Harden play point forward

-Getting Jordan to actually play with effort against a pair of quality big men. Jordan owned Sabonis last night

-Putting Tyler Johnson in and having him focus on defense. That was something that I didn't expect. Johnson had the dog in him last night.

He got these guys to bounce back and everyone played hard.

We definitely need to give Tyler Johnson some burn, he played great defense and was up in guys faces. We need that guard that can defend hard, he should of BEEN playing, idk why it's taking Nash so long to put him in. We need to keep our defense like this every night.

Nah, Nash doesn't get credit for anything that goes well, then it's all because of the players. Nash can go kick rocks.

Anytime we suck though, that's 100% on Nash. He's literally out there telling guys to stop playing defense and to take plays off apparently.

In all seriousness, this is why it's incredibly frustrating to read any of the Nash discussion on this forum, because of the giant double standard that exists, where nothing good is because of him, but everything bad is his fault. I remember when he was the worst coach ever in the first half of the Nuggets game, and then we shut them down in the 2nd half and came back and won, and he had nothing to do with that apparently, that was all KD and the role players.

Certainly, Steve deserves credit for this one. Let's call it "once in a row".

I don't believe that he was coaching for his job last night, but the sense of urgency was palpable in the pregame adjustments that he made. He's not the Wizard of Westwood for making those adjustments, we've been clamoring for them as fans and media members for awhile now. Better late than never, let's have this coaching effort every night, good on Nash.

Thank goodness we had a big enough to be able to hold on for the win. This was easily Jordan’s best game this season. Much needed win but it didn’t have to be like this.

He’s a NGC. Signing him isn’t that big of a deal.

This. Marks was not going to commit to guaranteed contracts ahead of the buyout period. He wants maximum flexibility at the end of the bench. The guys he recently signed can all be cut at any point with no cap ramifications for 10-days or bought out guys.

Looked like a different team last night. Everyone put in the effort and it struck me that we looked like a team rather than individuals. I hope it's the start of everything coming together.

Definitely proud of what I saw and heard from Nash. I saw him and DJ arguing out of the timeout but I didn’t know it continued in the locker room. Glad he stood up to him.

DJ has been a sack of **** for quite some time now. Glad that woke him up and I hope he never allows a center on this trip to light him up again. His D on Sabonis was smothering.

DJ played like a man possessed last night. Really impressive. For once he got rewarded with more PT.

Kyrie is just amazing man. That finger must REALLY be bothering him because he missed a bunch of jump shots that are normally 100% money. He looked so relaxed on offense - it was like streetball out there. Still brought intensity on defense. You could tell he really wanted this one. Kyrie's press conference after Detroit was about as mad as I've seen him as Net. Glad he responded in a positive way.

Not sure if Shamet is a long term fit on this team but at least he's been showing life the last week or so. It's kind of funny and sad that the bench goes nuts whenever he hits a 3 like he's a complete scrub. I'll take the chemistry though lol.

I really don't know what to make of Harden. Sometimes he looks slow, his handles and footwork look sloppy, he looks like he didn't touch a basketball during the offseason and he's trying to get his groove back. Sometimes he has stretches where he looks unstoppable. Yet he's averaging 23, 11, and 8 on 64 TS%. I feel like he could take it up a level or 2 but those stats are pretty amazing. Maybe I just have to accept that this is what we're getting. His natural talent is just absurd.

And this is key. DJ played his best game of his Nets career, and got rewarded with 37 mins of playing time. This is why the **** about bashing Nash for not playing DJ enough is ridiculous to me. DJ doesn't get played enough because he plays at a subpar/lazy level most of the times. When he's actually playing with maximum effort, he'll get playing time. Nash isn't against centers or bigs, he just doesn't like our options there most of the times.
