What makes him deserve it? F him.
Hopefully VC gets bought out and goes there.

Yeah, how dare he after being nothing but a good soldier with us, winning our only playoff series in what feels like a century, calling Deron out on his bitchass bull and being a locker room leader? Yeah f him.

last time we tanked and prayed, we watched John Wall get drafted by the Wizards.
You're not a real fan unless you want to watch us tank for a decade.
could you imagine the despair?
in all seriousness, I don't want the Nets to be a capped out mediocre team, but at the same time we've been horrible since 2014-15. To tell me, a fan, that we should just give up on the guys acquired over the last 3 seasons and purposely suck balls for the next several years in hope for the slim chance of drafting a generational superstar, is a slap in the face. we won't make the playoffs til 2022-23 or worse. at some point even diehards are going to mentally check out.
I'd rather acquire as many talented young players as possible and build a talented team with depth and if there is a star to be had via trade, we use those assets to get him.
Also as a side bar look who has been drafted with our picks so far that we bottomed out for. Fultz, Brown, Kelly Oubre Jr, James Young. Obviously we might have chosen differently and the ink's still dry on Fultz, but it wouldn't be too crazy to prefer the Nets' draft haul of RHJ, LeVert, Allen.

I have no idea what kind of operation they're running in Orlando - maybe they're planning to max IT this summer?

Likely picking Doncic or Trae Young and sign a vet pg is what I'm thinking.

Billy King REALLY changed the landscape of the FRP market huh? No one wants to trade their picks. Payton only gets a 2nd rounder? Makes me think Marks is going to sign Harris and Din (Next year I know) to some good, reasonable deals.

Cunningham is Quincy Acy insurance lol.
That's all we get from the trade deadline? Oh well, glad we didn't flip harris for a 2nd or anything short sighted. I did have a vision in the middle of the day of Marks trading for Cousins, getting him for a phenomenal price. I guess I saw a different Pelican coming to us
would've been interesting to see Aaron Gordon or Jabari Parker wind up here. But I'm still super happy with Rondae and good god do we need him back in the starting lineup.

Besides a handful of super exciting game winners Joe Cool was a straight dog here.

I don't get where Marks is getting a $2.3mil exception. That's what we took in. The Exception should be for what we sent out (Vaughn's $1.9mil).

Hawks waived Okaro White, meaning we have him.

I agree. If Lou Williams gets a $8m per year extension, Payton is going for a 2nd rounder, then I feel like Harris could be had for $4m or less. It might not even take $6m to get Okafor back.

So basically Zeller for Cunningham and a 2nd rd pick? Not bad, but not gamechanging either.

I think it's 2016 more than King. Given all the bloated payroll and projected tax payers, teams are hoping for controllable, cheap serviceable players to offset the massive overpays.

Quick explanation. B/c Sean Marks picked up the G-League rights to Okaro White. The Heat trading him to Atlanta and Atlanta releasing him makes him property of the LI Nets.

This. Joe talked **** about Deron but he was a dog just as much. He had one good half a season where he gave us 100%. the guy looked like he was asleep most of the time he was here.

As opposed to being a treadmill team? Unfortunately, this is a superstar league and if you want a chance to be a contender you need at least one superstar.

Honestly, yes and no. Yes because like I've mentioned this is a superstar league and you need superstars to win, and unfortunately these guys tends to be around the lottery region. Also, I don't want to end up a team like Portland or Washington. Yeah it's great that they make the playoffs year in year out but everybody knows they have no chance of winning it.
It doesn't necessarily have to take a decade for this happen, I mean we could get lucky and Kawhi (or another random superstar) for some bizarre reason decides to come to Brooklyn but at the same time we have to always be in the hunt for that top 10 in the league potential. Nobody on this roster should be untouchable unless they are that. It doesn't necessarily have to come via draft either, like you've mentioned we could keep stockpiling all of these assets and make a deal for a superstar/potential superstar, sort of like the Harden-trade or a trade for Klay if that's at all feasible.
At the same time, no because I am curious to see how our core of Russell/Allen/RHJ/Levert/future picks pan out and by far this has been my favourite Net team for some time. But if we do get an amazing offer like the RHJ for a top 10 pick, you take that and run with it. We're in talent acquisition mode and year 2 of a rebuild, we should be proactive right now in acquiring assets as opposed to later when our cap situation starts getting tighter and we start shifting the main focus to winning.
Technically last time we tanked and prayed, we traded for DWill and traded said pick for Gerald Wallace. So, could be worse, a lot worse
totally understandable.
I'm not balking at trading RHJ for a top 10 pick, mind you.
