Sorry about not really doing a roundup in a while. My posting activity level tapered off during the days leading up to the election, since I was paying more attention to politics than basketball. And then in the days following the election, like most New Yorkers (registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 5 to 1 in NYC), I went into a bit of a funk and needed time to process the results, so I was in no mood to tackle the chore of compiling a comprehensive news update.
At this point, given the high rate at which JLin generates social media and news content and the backlog, it's probably impossible to do a comprehensive roundup of news without a giant list of over 30 items or something. Fortunately, others have posted items of interest to this thread, so that I don't have to. And I encourage people to do so, instead building up a backlog or waiting for me to do one of these roundup (especially since I don't know how frequent these will be). There are also a plethora of Lin-specific and Nets-specific news gathering and distribution outlets on the web for those seeking specific news content.
So, given the backlog since the last update, this won't be a comprehensive list of all recent news items. Just some that stick out to me, and a random sampling.
1) For the small sample size we have, given the Lin hamstring hiatus and Brooks sitting out back-to-backs, the PnR between the two of them seemed promising and was top rated, even if it could be improved on. A tweet of a graphic from TTNN.
2) Following the hamstring injury, JLin flew some sort of massage therapy specialist from Taiwan to NYC named "Master Luo" or "Master Lo" or something, who apparently is now traveling with the team. I think he's worked on Lin before during summer trips overseas.
3) A flurry of news content with some interesting tidbits was generated when the Nets played Lin's former Hornets team.
Steve Clifford gave a very long, wide-ranging and detailed 5 minute talk about JLin.
He says that while JLin gives credit to the Hornets season for his improved defensive showing, Cliff demurred (shaking his head) and said Lin came in with those improved defensive skills and was able to do any defense Cliff asked of him without Cliff having to really teach him anything ("he got it right away"), including the versatility and ability to defend most SGs.
He said that JLin was the best player on the Hornets during the 3 best wins of the season (Cavs, Spurs, Raps).
He also addressed the criticism by some that JLin is suited to being a 3rd guard off the bench instead of a starter. Cliff disagrees with that position, and says that JLin should never settle for coming off the bench, not until he's 34 or 37yrs old and about to retire.
The most interesting tidbit of new info in this was the part about the off-season training. I hadn't realized that Cliff actually went to visit JLin during the off-season to watch him work out. Cliff says that JLin has a typed out plan for his off-season workouts.
That seems very meticulously organized and rigorously focused. It jives with what JLin has said in the past, when JLin once mentioned that at the end of each season, he goes on a retreat with his agents (he's probably the only NBA player who is simultaneously represented by multiple agencies) and trusted guys and maybe shooting coaches or what not, and they work out the goals of the off-season. Reviewing tape and planning out a course of development and calendar schedule of what they want to achieve in the coming months.
Kemba Walker also chimed in and said he believed that JLin was a starting caliber guard in this league.
And of course, the meetup after the game, where he and his former teammates clearly and genuinely still have rapport.
4) JLin put Joe Harris (Joey Buckets) and Justin Hamilton (JHam) up on snapchat as bookworm role models on why "reading is cool" to encourage kids to read.
5) Some contract details of the deal that the Nets signed with Kenda Tires (one of the two Taiwanese tire companies that follow JLin from team to team). It's a multi-year contract. Having Jeremy on the team opens up new business opportunities for the Nets franchise. You can look at it as helping to defray the cost of Lin's salary, or helping to pay for the salary of one of his teammates.
Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, Kenda will receive corporate sponsor status, including use of Nets marketing rights, TV-visible branded signage, hospitality and presenting sponsorship of a Jeremy Lin bobble head night.

Not sure what the Mandarin parts in the news coverage is saying, but the parts of the video where JLin is answering Q&A's is in English.
7) So here's the sequence of events. Marvel Comics writer Greg Pak of
Totally Awesome Hulk has written JLin into a two-issue cameo, coming in December. SLAM magazine writes about it and interviews Brook for his take, where Brook expresses jealousy and says that he's going to take the comic book issue when it comes out and just draw himself into the comic. Then, in response to the SLAM article, Greg Pak tweets that he can hook Brook up, just get in touch. Now, the latest is that Greg Pak puts up an instagram of the 3 of them meeting up.
No word yet on whether this means Brook will eventually turn up in a Marvel Comic.
8) Assistant Coach Jeremy Lin. The Sarah Kustok interview followed by a montage of photos and clips of Jeremy jumping up and cheering from the bench, standing at the sidelines giving advice, or doing work with his clipboard.
On the reddit thread, one redditor hilariously noted that Jeremy Lin is the only player to get a highlight reel of him on the bench in a suit. And that clip was popular enough to get its own reddit thread

(Not sure if this was the exact same clip, since it's been a number of days.)
I wonder if this whole assistant coach with a clipboard thing was something put forth by the coaching staff, or if it was Jeremy's own initiative. There's a possibility it's the latter, since no other injured Net adopted the same role, and I think it may have come out of Jeremy's experience on the Hornets. Last season, Cliff did something similar by having MKG assume a similar responsibility of charting out defensive plays to analyze, to give MKG something to do while he was recuperating and not able to play for the Hornets. It's possible that's where JLin got the idea to assume this assistant coach role for the Nets.
9) The organization "Passport to Taiwan" brought 200+ people to Barclays for the 10/28 game, and will do so again for the 11/27 game. They hold events in Union Square and have offices in Flushing, and was founded in response to legislation signed by George H.W. Bush (senior) and a presidential proclamation from Bill Clinton, according to their website.
https://www.facebook.com/Passport2Taiwan/posts/10154551514871368?_fb_noscript=1http://p2tw.org/10) I'm going to copy and paste what Lorenzo posted in one of the game threads, in case anyone missed it. I found the interplay between Lin and Brook to be hilarious.

11) A video analyzing and illustrating the Nets motion offense and how JLin fits into it. The youtube user "Speed of Lin" usually does JLin highlight reels, but with the JLin sidelining, he's now putting out videos analyzing the way the Nets system works on the court using actual game footage.
12) Diehard Nets fans at
The Brooklyn Game put out a nice comprehensive article about how Jeremy Lin is the right unifying "glue" leader for the Nets both on the court and off the court.
http://thebrooklyngame.com/off-court-jeremy-lin-right-leader-nets/There's probably lots of stuff I left out (like his post election tweets and the statements from his teammates, or his prayer requests, or whatever new posts he made on his official site or whatnot), but that's it for this much belated roundup. I don't think the Nets have put out much news yet on the hamstring update front. It's a lot easier to drop one or two news items in one of the other Nets players threads, rather than to keep up with the torrent of social media and news content that Jeremy Lin generates. So I can't promise how frequent or comprehensive these will be. People should feel free to chime in with news items to diminish the backlog or need for a roundup. Or to do their own updates. I don't wish to keep any such prerogative to myself or discourage others from contribution.
