I'm wagering more than a few dumbasses did this.

Look at how many morons were down in florida on Spring break. Athletes especially young ones are no different.

Considering how many people still seem to be partying despite warnings against large gatherings, I would venture to say "a lot".

If the governor of NJ didnt shut the state down you would have idiots bar hopping right now for St. Patrick's day.

The fact that government didn't create designated facilities for Covid 19 is idiotic. This is airborne virus. You know how ventilation system works? Scary man.

As of now it's not considered airborne, it's droplet based.

Regardless this is some scary **** right now.

Stop going out people!

They are in 4-6 cities per week at times. traveling through airports. working with media, medical staff...

the average american doesnt travel to half the US every month.

Stars have much less contact with people period. They live VIP life.

That really isnt the situation. and what is worse is they arent just capable of spreading it within their community. if they are infected they are spreading it to many cities and many communities.

Let me walk you through the average NBA 3 to 5 game road trip.

-Team gathers at facilitiy. Team meets with trainers, PR, marketing, and travel assistants
-Team is transported to the airport. they typically have direct access to their charter flight. they come across their own VIP bag handlers, flight attendants and pilots
-Team arrives at airport of new city, they transport to the hotels where they are met by VIP concierge and managers.
-they then go to the road practice facility. typically small college training centers. they meet with trainers and coaches and then have a mandtory meeting with local and national media
-Game day they will interact with media, fans, players, coaches and trainers from the other team
-after the game more media
-after post game some go back to the hotel, some go to dinner, some go to the club, some visit local friends/jump offs
-after that they either have a charter bus if the next city is close or back to the airport...

So if your counting at home thats:

-Dozens of local trainers and traveling trainers and trainers at facilities they use on the road
-Coaches, PR reps, marketing reps
-Flight staff, bag handlers, attendants for local flights and then flights from there to other cities
-tons of media, some fans, other teams players
-Hotel staff
-if they go to dinner other restaraunt patrons and staff
-if they go to the club its every mofo and chick in sight and maybe multiple clubs

multiply that by 3,4,5,6 cities per week and they are potentially being infected by tons of people and worse spreading it through the US.

Its not just coming into contact with people. If they're taking airplanes they still have to walk through airports and what not. Covid-19 is actually able to survive for several hours. So all it takes is touching some surface where someone who was infected with it may have spread it.

Put it to you like this. People ride subway in much higher numbers than people who take flights.

the subway only goes within a few cities and buroughs. these guys are traveling to like 25+ states.

Again, just because they don't fly coach doesn't mean that they don't pass through the same areas inside of the airport that most people pass through.

If we use your logic than we should stop breathing. Airborne bacteria can spread different ways, we don't know enough about this virus yet to speculate. Chances of them catching it on a plane are minimal. Why only four, why not entire team? They've been together on the same plane.

you cant stop breathing. you can stay home so you dont breath the same air as people in your vicinity.

quarantine is the only real way to slow it

Horrific, but I'm not too worried for them they got a whole medical staff around
But it's still bad and we don't really know if they will have long term damage.

Other team tested their players or we are the only one ? ( I assume Jazz and Thunder too )

I think the Celtics also tested their players since they had recently played against the Jazz.

They'll almost certainly be hit worse than anyone in the US because of population density, taking suggested quarantine too lightly, tourism, commuters, etc., but don't get it twisted, we're probably 3 weeks away from peak and the numbers are only so low because we're not even really testing. I'm figuring we're in the millions infected already nationwide. Take whatever positive test figures you see right now and multiply them by 10, 20, 50...

What are you guys doing for food?

Today I went to shop rite and spent 325. We have 5 people in the house. That should last us for a while. I think I am going to order from here on and have it delivered. We are staying put, just some walks in a nearby park.

What VC said about catching it airborne....if thats the case, my feeling is this is going to last a long long time.

Good luck to everyone

It's necessary but a bitch getting in by 8 here was speeding to get Chinese food and make it home in time. I live in the suburbs where it's never over crowded with people but back in queens taking the bus...the train. You have no choice....

I don't want to come with my conspiracy theories but I think they're trying to chip us. Martial law might be in motion soon.

This is why DeBlasio warned NYers today that the city was going to go scorched earth. Cuomo can fight it all he wants but they may very well have to do what happened in Wuhan.

Over here in NJ I spent day 1 of being inside all day and it wasn't that bad, i had to work from home but i'd rather be home making money and staying isolated. I took the dog out to get some air and honestly I enjoy the peace.

I think this is going to last awhile, but thankfully Final Fantasy 7, Persona 5R, and The Last of Us are all going to release within the next 90 days or so.

I'm stocked up pretty well and for now the food places around here are doing takeout and drive thru so it's all good. liquor stores are still open til 8pm est. I expect things to change though once a confirmed case is discovered in my city so on friday i'll be probably buying at least 350+ of food, water, liquor, and hygiene supplies.
