It's pretty dumb people are getting upset for supporting a new player whom already showed he can be productive in limited min. Glad to see you're a Swift supporter, rag-time. But yes, he has a stomach virus, so we'll have to wait and see how it goes when he comes back. I do see Frank giving more opportunity to Boki though...stupid coach.
I think Swift fits well within our team. He's a great finisher, blocks shots, can move without the ball, can run, can catch the ball, he stays within his game, and has more experience then our young guys. I like him over Boone (not a knock on Boone, I just don't think he's starting material)...and I look forward to seeing him play more. It's just very unfortunate he's sick and that we have Frank as our coach.

With Diop here, I am almost positive Frank will favor him over swift because he more closely resembles Twin. Stro then will not get his turn unless we play teams that present very specific matchups like GS who we might see only once for the rest of the season.
I also have a hunch that Frank believes Stro's reputation and already had his presuppositions about him. He then had to play him because he had no other choice with the departure of Collins. But with our struggles on offense, Swift is our only big right now capable of creating offense.
Frank should be tinkering with his rotations in a meaningful way with this new team. At this point if he simply goes with something, it should be seen as irresponsible.

Frank has used Nachbar at the 4 way before we acquired Swift...
I wish people would realize that Stromile Swift isn't really gonna get us over the hump. I'd rather give Boone, Williams, Krstic and even Diop playing time over Swift...
Agreed. I know Swift is athletic, but he's 28 and is in his 8th year. What you see is what you get at this point with him.

Frank likes Defensive players too.
So hassel and Diop are going to get PT. Swift is going to have to show Frank he can play better D then Diop or he is screwed.
I think Frank is a Swift supporter. he is lucking he has gotten any PT so far. Nachbar sat on the bench the year they got him.
So be happy buddy.

With the defensive played we've acquired, i don't give a damn if Frank favors them over Swift. Diop makes PLAYS. We need that. Swift should get a shot but unless he's out there tossing and altering shots like Sean does, i could care less if Diop gets more PT, BUT i do think that we need Swift to provide some offense.
As far as him starting over Boone...no way. Boone inhales rebounds like Shawn Kemp inhales cocaine!! Boone is the MAN.

I wouldnt say Boone "inhales" rebounds. Dwight inhales them. KG inhales them. Boone more like bats it to himself. His hands aren't very strong. It's more that he puts himself in better position for them than the other guys like Sean.
Bottom line is id play stro at some expense of Boone's minutes. Boone is nice at getting clean up points and easy baskets but when our offense comes to a grind we need a guy like stro to give us options.

Thanks for the observation! You're giving me some reason to be optimistic!
Dunno what to make about Hassell playing Center today vs Indiana though... hopefully that experiment doesn't last....

I don't think Swift will be out for long if a stomach virus is the real reason why he didn't play in the last two games.
Rag, I totally agree about the fact that Stro had to sit his first games and Hassell didn't, but the Nets have pretty good depth at the 4/5 so Frank had the luxury to sit him. After watching the game tonight I can say that Swift could've helped out there with Boone struggling and Williams in foul trouble.
Anyways, the fact that he's not playing right now is not helping him but at least it's not about him being in the dog house...

Stro4, how do we know Stromile isn't in the doghouse?
Maybe he's just "not in the team's plans"...
Despite Boone and Kristic tearing it up inside, the Nets have been outscored in the paint in each of the last two games... 74-58 being the total for the past two games.

He has done nothing for the Nets but play well in his limited opportunity.
Two days after being acquired, Trenton Hassell and DeSagana Diop are getting on the court for the Nets... Stromile Swift is nowhere to be found...
What's the deal?
What, are you dating Swift or something?
The reason he isn't playing is because frankly, he sucks, and is a waste of talent.
He's still the exact same player that he was when he came into the league, despite solid attempts to develop him by Hubie Brown in Memphis and Jeff Van Gundy in Houston.
The only value he has to this team is that his contract was slightly smaller than Jason Collins'.

So you're saying he has talent? In that case I agree, sitting him on the bench is indeed a waste of talent!
Anyway, the Nets did a much better job in the paint in the second of the two games against the Pacers. Without Swift, I don't think the Nets will consistently outscore their opponents, but best of luck to them!
If they have no intention of giving Stromile a shot despite how well he has played for them so far, then I just hope that next year he will end up in a better place!
He's fun to watch, I miss seeing him play regularly!

Yes, he has talent.
Without some talent, he could never have suckered Memphis, Houston, and now us into giving him a shot.
However, he is still the exact same player as when he came into the league.
He's been a 8-10 point scorer his entire career, despite possessing talent far beyond that. He has no work ethic, no basketball IQ, no defensive abilities or offensive range to speak of.
I would love it if he chose not to use his option for next season.
Also, how is scoring 12 points in garbage time "playing well for us"?

Check the last Raps game. He's 1 of the reasons we didn't lose by 30-40 (yea, they could of dropped it harder on us). Why knock a guy that would give us something we need if he performs well? Give him a legit chance, then make your mind. Things can change.
And I'd definately see Stro getting time over Nachbar. Boone is playing well, but he's not dominant. Swat is still a rookie.

During that time no Raps scored consistently in the paint, even when they tried HARD. He also shown us he can finish around the basket quicker and stronger than any bigman we got. He boxed out during rebounds, he ran down the floor, and made unselfish passes.
How is that helpful? He has an interest/knowledge to make us a better team than the crap Frank puts on the floor sometimes.

You just repeated what's been said 2 posts ago.

Anyway, it really seems like people around here are sceptic that Swift can help this team so I won't even bother coming by to see stupid posts like ''Why play him? he's a dumb player!''.
