Not sure if Shamet is a long term fit on this team but at least he's been showing life the last week or so. It's kind of funny and sad that the bench goes nuts whenever he hits a 3 like he's a complete scrub. I'll take the chemistry though lol.

his three point shooting this month has been 41% so far and his overall % is creeping upwards, now at 34%. Seems like he's starting to revert back to his career norms, which will be huge for this team.

We can't play Jordan 36 mins every night, so we still need Marks to hurry up and get us another m big man.

More importantly, this is literally the first time DJ has played like this all season. He has had good games before, but nowhere near the level he played at tonight. If DJ can play even close to this level on a consistent level, it solves a lot of our problems.

My gut reaction is that he will not sustain what he did tonight. We need to trade Dinwiddie for a big man

I think you can count on 20-24 minutes of very good play from DJ most nights. he typically gives us close to that, despite Nash playing to his weaknesses. he isnt going to give you 30+ a night, he isnt that guy anymore.

But if you put him in high pick and rolls he is going get some easy buckets or be enough of a lob threat to give harden/Kyrie a good look at the rim. He is going to have some lapses of effort when he doesnt get a whistle or doesnt get an offensive rebound and coasts back on the other end but all in all your likely getting a solid 8-10 points 8-10 rebounds and 1-2 blocks in 20ish minutes from him.

I dont think id trade dinwiddie for a big. We would be just as good with someone like McGee who would come cheaper. any big with offense is going to be diminished returns cause we arent giving a big touches outside of lobs. We need a DJ/Allen type mold. someone who sets great screens, knows how to roll, good finisher, who provides some rim protection.

Pelle isnt that guy. he is a warm body. help is coming.

Gonna give Nash some credit for tonight too. Got TJ into the mix (who responded with a great defensive effort) and played DJ in the 4th unlike a number of times where he's left him on the bench when he's had a good game. If I had to nitpick just a bit its that he didn't get Vonleh some more burn to see how he might fit in with the bench/starters.

My only issue with Nash tonight was again refusing to use timeouts. i get we were up 30, but you dont need to wait for a team to go on 16-0 run to try and kill their momentum. if that was a 20 point lead instead of a 30 point lead we would ahve been in trouble

Eh, he is worth a flyer, at least until buyout season. I've advocated this for awhile, use the open roster spots to get weird and rifle through a ton of interesting free agents. Someone like Norvell has the *chance* to be a high-yield investment, with his elite ability to block shots and catch lobs. The problem is, he really doesn't understand the game on a strategic level, and at 28yo, you have to wonder whether he ever will.

Could Pelle become the next Chris Andersen? Sure, I could envision a world where everything clicks and he maximizes his potential mate into his professional career, just like Birdman did. Will he do so with us? Very unlikely, but we wouldn't have known for certain without signing him to a 10-day and getting a first hand view. The COVID protocol adds a ton of preamble to this whole process, but it's still worth it. Hopefully, we eventually sign Dedmon and Rondae, I think they would fit beautifully on this roster.

This is how i feel. see if you can find something off the scrap heap while you work a deal for someone like McGee.

Harden is our Kyrie insurance now... so less of a need for dinwiddie there. i dont want to moves spencer for a big, but if we did, i agree turner would be by choice

-Getting Jordan to actually play with effort against a pair of quality big men. Jordan owned Sabonis last night

-Putting Tyler Johnson in and having him focus on defense. That was something that I didn't expect. Johnson had the dog in him last night.

He got these guys to bounce back and everyone played hard.

I give Nash credit. You cant bash the guy when we show up with low effort for not motivating us but then not give him credit when we come out inspired to start the game. i said in the OP it will be telling if this team will play hard for nash or have just tuned him out. so that was encouraging.

This is always why i put more heat on marks then nash though too... this team sans durant on the second night of a back to back whipped a playoff team by 30 (final score obviously misleading). We have some roster issues to address, but this team should not be losing to the pistons... it would be one thing if it was 1 game, but we have a losing record vs bad teams.

DJ played like a man possessed last night. Really impressive. For once he got rewarded with more PT.

And this is key. DJ played his best game of his Nets career, and got rewarded with 37 mins of playing time. This is why the **** about bashing Nash for not playing DJ enough is ridiculous to me. DJ doesn't get played enough because he plays at a subpar/lazy level most of the times. When he's actually playing with maximum effort, he'll get playing time. Nash isn't against centers or bigs, he just doesn't like our options there most of the times.

I just dont buy this... because we know otherwise.

We lost to the Wizards, with Jordan playing great (+15) and he never returned after 18 minutes despite us getting dominated in paint points and green/small ball not working. We saw it again in toronto. Jordan playing well, +8 in 18 minutes. toronto layup line at the rim. no resistance defensively and no lob threat. small ball not helping. we saw no jordan in the 4th/second half really.

Those are 2 very recent examples of Jordan playing well, being effective, the team doing well with him on the floor and then Nash burying him to watch small ball blow a game.

Don't get me wrong. I 110% agree with you that Jordan is an inconsistent player who has lapses of effort. But lets not pretend that Nash just needed to see him play well to give him burn. He has BURIED jordan on the bench in other perfromances like this in the second half.

it was only a matter of time. great shooters almost always come back to their averages unless injury plays a role. If he gets a conssitent role/minutes/usage he should finish the year in the 36-43% range

The Nets should be in 1st place of the conference. The losses against inferior teams are unacceptable. We need some personnel upgrades yes, but it is clear to me that these guys across the board were lollygagging in a lot of these games versus garbage teams. It needs to stop, and I hope last night was the end of it.

I think Kyrie took the loss against Detroit personally and came out looking to lead the team. We need that high energy from him every night.

I gave DJ King because he not only played well offensively, but most importantly he stopped Sabonis and Turner from going off which is what I think everyone expected to happen especially given our current reputation on defense.

Kyrie certainly carried us more offensively though.

It's not a dumb take though. If DJ plays with at least 75% of the effort he played with last night it goes a long way towards solveing our interior defense woes.

Obviously I don't expect him to be able to sustain this level of play at 30+ minutes per game, so we should still acquire another center for sure. But if DJ plays at a higher level on a consistent basis it takes some of the pressure of having to get interior help right away.

Than it goes for entire team. We playing half azz d all the time. No wonder almost all our losses came from teams with losing records. DJ is washed up there's no denying it. He won't provide type of games on consistent basis, that's why I said is dumb. Also we much better defensive team with green at five and data backs it up ( not that it means much right now, we right there top three with most different starting line ups ). Make just be spitting out some delusional lazy takes.
