I had a feeling things would suddenly resolve themselves after the All-Star game where no quirky decisions had to be made about the East/West Roster if Kidd was traded pre-All Star game.....

I'll be shocked if it didn't go through.

Just saw an interview (repeat of Celebrity All-Star game) where Kidd made a comment how it wouldn't be hard to play for an owner like Cuban...it seemed like a shot at Thorn (edit: & Ratner) for not showing him the $$. Don't be fooled for Kidd this whole thing was mainly about the $$.

I know the ESPN report says Hassell is included, however watching the breakdown of the trade during the all-star game they didnt include Hassell in the trade, and on the mavs board there's been mention of Hassell not being included now. Anyone know if theres any truth to this? Maybe KVH is signed to more money to make up the difference? Financially, this deal becomes even better for us..

What's he suppose to say? Dallas will have the highest NBA payroll after this trade. Even if the trade didn't happen now, sending Kidd to Dallas is the most likely trade in the off season. He's only going to say nice things about Cuban. Ratner's not a cheapskate either ... Net's payroll was #12, last time I checked.

Of course it's about money too. Kidd wants money and he wants to win. If he can get both, can you blame him? I don't even know if Kidd seriously expected the extension from Ratner, especially with the team still waiting to move to Brooklyn. His trade request is logical if he thinks he can get a $13 mil extension from Cuban, and even if he gets less he'd be on a team in a better position to contend. And I have to think Cuban will definitely give Kidd the extension, because it doesn't make sense to just rent Kidd for only 1 1/2 seasons for the high price Dallas would be paying (2 picks, Harris, etc).

It is business, and everyone has their price.

CNNSI, Yahoo, and ESPN still have Hassell in it. TNT probably left him out accidentally.

The Mavericks would have to release one player -- likely rookie forward Nick Fazekas -- to make roster room for Van Horn. Dallas is also expected to complete a separate deal with the Nets in which they acquire Antoine Wright for a future second-round draft pick

I guess we were not going to resign Wright. Thorn figured might as well get a pick for him.

It was obvious by the body language between Dirk and Kidd. Kidd was really playful, he was guarding Dirk specifically at times. They were also chatting it up towards the end of the game.
My name is Taiyab, and I realize there is an intra-team conflict at the Point Guard spot.

The brooklyn move has been pushed back far too long.

Those people that are against it just needs to get over it. Them protesting and filing petitions aren't going to do anything for them.

The sooner they realize the Nets are moving in, the better it is for them and the community.

**what i'm trying to get at is** if we move to brooklyn sooner the attendance and advertising revenues will go up. also I think ratner will spend $$ to keep the team more competitive.

You guys are getting worked in this deal. Jason should be worth way more than what you're getting.

How?

As far as im concerned, we're getting a young PG, possibly better than most PGs in the East. We're getting expiring contracts and we're getting picks, although the picks may not be a lottery pick but who knows, we may get lucky like others teams over the years such as Arenas or Tony Parker.

With that expiring, we're gonna be able to add some quality player next year and get deeper or along with a trade with either VC or RJ (and the extra money), we might get lucky landing a versatile big man, who knows? Although im kinda iffy with Thorn, i still trust him when it comes to trading players and signing the best player though free agency. I just dont trust his drafting skills.

Plus, the 2010 1st pick might actually become a valuable pick.

If we keep JK, it's going to be an ugly 2nd half for us and im not into salvaging the season and Thorn would agree with me on this one. As much as possible we would like to be on a winning atmosphere even if it's an early exit on the 1st round. I dont want to see the old Nets, who would?

I support Thorn on this one just because we didn't have enough time to look elsewhere and with JK's contract it's going to be hard anyways. This is the best possible deal we can get if we still want our teams name to be talked about (one of a few ways to attract a big name FA).

However, the only negative thing about the deal is Hassel's contract. Boy... that's ugly! :noway: Let's just hope that he can be better than Wright offensively, i know Hassel was once a very good defender esp. when he was with the Timberwolves.

Didnt Stackhouse have a much worse contract though? And if the original plan was to buy him out the hit would have been much worse than Hassells

I understand why Kidd along with all the players in the NBA would say that. This has nothing to do with Thorn and Ratner and even with Kidd gettting paid. Yeah he will get his money, but have you seen how much money Cuban puts out for his players. I am not talking about salaries. The facility itself is built to entertain not only the fans but the players too. There have been numerous interviews with players from other teams that love coming to Dallas because the locker rooms are incredible. Cuban is considered one of the best owners in the NBA for many reasons. I dont blame Kidd for saying it. Cuban isnt like Ratner. I dont think Ratner is a big of a fan of Sports as Cuban is anyway.

Anyway In Rod We Trust. Thorn has pulled off another amazing trade. Thorn will get us the next Lebron, Kobe, MJ, or Wade and he will prepare us for 2010.

Hassell expiring contract will come handy in 2009-2010. There will be guys available to sign in 2009-2010. By then we should know what last peice to add. We need some expiring contracts thats how we missed the boat on KG, Pau, & Ray. We got to start planning for the future. Thats why I wouldn't mind taking JO for VC. JO last year is 2009-2010. You need expiring contracts these days to make a move more than just young talent...........which we will get with the picks.

Lets get Crawford & F Jones(expiring) Plus a future 1st rounder for VC.

Crawford makes half the money.

2009-2010 16.3mil

AWESOME DEAL.

This is the start of a new era you guys...this will be a great example of "addition by subtraction". Now all Rod has to do is follow up with another trade to shore things up and we will be right back at it and YOUNG at the same time.

I don't mind keeping Carter now because he can still be useful to us, especially if he improves his play now that he will be the primary ball handler.

WELCOME DEVIN HARRIS AND BIG DIOP!!

We will find out once we make our 2008 & 2010 picks. Those could pan out big. Can't forget about them. Also by then Kidd will look like Payton on the Heat. :D

Return to Brooklyn Nets
