we need to pick up couple bigs in the buyout market..either stretch 4, or stretch 5. guys who are atleast 6'10. our guard oriented lineup are getting destroyed in the post/paint night in and night out.

yeah if the Nets plan to tank in 2019 i'm done. whats the point of watching this team if this is even remotely in their plans? how many years of being trash should we have to be.

if this is the strategy, and all of this is a waste of time.

Be careful. You're creeping into FAKE fan territory. Prokorov will show you the door if you keep this up

I'm with him. the day the nets tank im out.

I'm fine with a poor record and focusing on development. but the day we start losing on purpose or hindering development for a higher pick im done

Me to. I can handle the losing (just) But if they change direction..... I'm heading down the turnpike.

'Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man, he's down on his knees'

sorry this song.

Speights is the only one wit any potential to match a Cunningham. Koufos is terrible in ORPM. Illasova isn't better than Cunningham. Lopez is a stiff in ORPM. -0.67. Last season Brook was a 1.40.

Sean Marks made the right decision.

why would we have any interest in any of those guys? older bigs who would command large salary?

Not even good. Speights is the only meh one there. And Cunningham is better than him.

Speight only earns 2 mil...rest of guys can be signed with Lin's DPE they all earn less than 8 mil illasova cheap stretch 4 at 6 mil. Maybe Lopez interested in rejoining us and taking the hometown discount. We get gain more cap space by trading Lin. OR Packaging Mozgov and 1st rounder to free up even more if there's marquee player available in the summer.

Why would a player that got bought out mid season require a large contract? Those guys usually get the minimum or something really small on a 1 year deal.

Why would we bring on them anyway? most of the minutes post ASB are going to younger players.

this is what I think is happening here. Some of these posters think we're a playoff team.

B/c I have absolutely no idea, how.... First we traded a fringe NBA rotation player for a young guard and a pick, and flipped that guard for another rotation vet who actually still has upside. And was clearly misused in NOLA or wasn't comfortable there.

Now we have a guy to guide Jarrett Allen, Jahlil Okafor, Rondae, Webb. Those minutes are clearly going to them. So I don't get where this, go for waivers bring in Speights, Illyo, Kuf, like nah bruh. We're sticking wit this group. This is the group that will be developed.

On top of that other than Speights, who is a center that might have some outside pop and can play D, can pass the ball, I don't want that guy cutting into Jarrett Allen's 30 mins, Jah's 20 or Webb's 10-15.

Now we added a better option in Dante Cunningham, who can rebound, who plays tough, who has a spread the floor game and rolls hard. He's basically a smarter Trevor Booker. And a guy Jahlil will pay close attention to in practice about playing the face up game and etc.

Booker was a 12 pt / 10 reb guy per 36 while Cunningham is 10 / 6.

less turnover prone, better 3 pt. shooter, just was playing in a system that didn't fit him.

Booker in 2018

17.7 mpg -1.07 ORPM -0.26 DRPM

Cunningham in 2018

21.8 mpg -2.05 ORPM +0.30 DRPM

Meaning Dante was likely in the wrong system, but his defense was still an upgrade.

and what happens after that half season deal at the end of the year? they will want a long term contract.

why exactly would we sign an older player to a rental deal for a team baiscally mathematically eliminated from playoff contention?

0 reason to consider signing any of those guys

We just traded for Dante Cunningham. A vet backup forward with absolutely no upside. The team easily could've kept Vaughn or just rolled with Webb if we were strictly interested in going young.

Clearly the team has some interest in competing and putting actual NBA players on the floor.

Idk if we'll be interested in any buy out guys but cost isn't a factor. Those guys are always on cheap one year deals. And we're not running with a full on youth movement. Okafor is barely cracking 15 minutes a game even with Zeller gone.

Marks is always doing his HW.

Why trade for Cunningham? Same exact scenario. That deal cost us money. For a rental with a guy that had a no trade clause and he specifically waived it to play with a team out of playoff contention.
