Now, if only Kenny can work his magic and turn DMC to a serviceable player again.

I could see it even dropping into the teens if the Raptors implode. Hopefully it's unprotected and the Raptors miss the playoffs but that's only a pipe dream

Unprotected? Wishful thinking for us. After the Billy King fiasco, even teams like the Warriors & Cavs would sure include protections... :banghead:

Now I'm pondering the notion of using the remaining cap space to get Aldrich from the timberpups. On the surface it appears the best way to obtain serviceable assets is to take on salary dumps too.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Does this mean Marks is trying to sign Ilyasova? We need a big who can shoot.
Most NBA stats aren't credible. At most times the people who interprets those data are biased, or the data themselves are flawed. Basketball is just too complicated with so many uncontrollable variables.

It's a good trade but I wouldn't go that far. Carroll has had knee problems since Atlanta and isn't the same.

Considering what was left on the market and no bigger swingmen on the roster, Carroll is by far the best option.

If Brooklyn signs KCP, it is likely Lin will come off the bench since you're not signing this guy to a 16-17 mill multi year contract to come off the bench..He's also young at 24 and will be part of the future alongside Russell...That leaves Lin the odd man out and I think the best scenario for him is to be traded to a fringe playoff team where he could start or a very good title contender where he could come off the bench and win a ring.

It might make sense to you but Nets want to win and are trying to establish a culture. Lin will start as long as he is a Net just like how Foye was a starter last year. It might not make sense to you or you might not like it but that is going to happen. Dlo or LeVert coming off the bench won't hurt their development since they are going to play alot of minutes anyway but breaking promise s to players you signed will hurt this team in signing future free agents.

LeVert will come off the bench, but not DLo since he has to higher up-side and is on his third year....Also, I agree with you that Lin is highly likely to start alongside DLo on the back-court but if they sign KCP, all bet is off..If that happens, it'll be DLo/KCP...I don't think you can start KCP at SF because he's too small.

Also, Brooklyn will do what's in their future best interest and if they feel DLo and KCP are their future, I believe these 2 will start ahead of Lin..It's that simple and I'm saying this as a Lin fan...You shouldn't feel like Brooklyn owe it to Lin to start him and believe me, Marks will do what's in the team best interest, not Lin's.

I bet Lin will never come off the bench no matter if they sign KCP or not. They will trade Lin before benching him.

The raptors board is pretty thrilled with this too, although the price seems steep their organization really doesn't benefit from the picks, as they know they need to sign Powell next year (we will probably screw them with an offer sheet for him too )

For me, we still need to add the best available talent possible. For the remaining available cap I really want to target KCP.

We still have the expiring of Booker & Lin's player option to work with should we need additional cap space...

That's a potential 31st to 33rd overall pick right there... 8-)

Speculation on Twitter about how this effects LeVert

30 yr old Carroll starts at SF, Nets most glaring need, Nets as GM hinted during DLo trade use @CarisLeVert as back up both G positions

It doesn't matter. we are stacking pieces

Carroll is a career 36% from down town. he was daggering the nets this past season in the games we played. regardless, means nothing.

we got two picks out of this, and some salary flexibility in 2 years along with a vet that can help out that's familiar with Kenny

The Marksman presses the trigger twice.

Interesting post from Raptor Real GM this spring

He was extremely reliant on others setting him up. 83% of his points were assisted in Atlanta. That worked well in an offense that moved the ball extremely well but Toronto is one of the worst passing teams in the league. A lot of people envisioned this happening. That's completely ignoring his injury.

I envisioned it happening. I'm too lazy to bump my points but it was a terrible fit from day one.

i will be blunt, i watched toronto in playoff games and their games versus us

that being said, he'll do well in this offense. but he's irrelevant in the bigger picture.

we got a servicable player and picks for pocket lint

sounds like the Nets offense will work better for Carroll than Toronto's if nothing else

Return to Brooklyn Nets
