NyCeEvO wrote:Hey guys, depending on how much traction we get on our board, I have an idea that I think would be cool for us to implement.

IIRC, boards like the Heat and the Magic have postgame awards that they give to a player on their team after wins. For us, I was thinking that our award could be a crown (in reference to Brooklyn, “Kings” county).

In essence, after every win, we each vote to give a crown to the Brooklyn Nets player and give at least a short explanation as to who we thought was the MVP of the game. The player with the most votes gets the crown for the game. During the season, we can keep a running log and whoever has the most crowns is our “King of Brooklyn”.

The crown doesn’t always have to go to the best player or the one who scored the most points, so occasionally I’d expect guys like Harris and even Brown to get some crowns.

Thoughts?

Sign that executive order, chief!

May I also purpose a postgame thread nomination?

EDIT:

Do you mean have people sign-up to make post-game threads like we did/do for regular game threads? Or do you mean nominate someone else to make postgame threads?

If it’s the former, let’s hold off a bit. I wanna see how well attended these initial postgame threads are and whether people actually vote. If it’s the latter, shoot me a PM and let me know who you were thinking about.

I think it would be nice to begin it with the MLK day game. Hopefully, they’ll win so we can vote.

I’ll make a post tomorrow formally announcing the postgame thread and crown voting, so that those who didn’t see my post in this game thread can see and comment on the idea.

Bro I wish, but this avi is from DraftKings.

I do not have the talent to make something like this

Once I get my laptop replaced, I’ll be making my sig making debut. It’s time.

No worries...it’s cool.

I’m sure either someone can do it or I’ll figure out something else to use as a banner.

Minutes were too high for KD and Harden tonight but I'm hoping that was just a mistake from the coaching staff. Felt like they were trying to stagger them so 1 would be on the floor at all times but just mismanaged the minutes.

How would that work with the DPE? I would assume he would not be able to return this season.

In the event that a team is granted a disabled player exception, uses it to acquire a player, and then has its injured player return ahead of schedule (before the end of the season), the team is allowed to carry both players. However, the team would lose its exception if it trades the injured player, or if the player returns to action before the DPE has expired or been used.

What do you guys think of Harden and KD's two man game? I couldn't stop smiling seeing these two play together. I easily saw this coming. These 2 will be the deadliest duo in the league. And Kyrie is coming holy ****

Harden's playmaking always been this amazing but media hate blinded many of his brilliance. Man is a generational talent. Nash must be smiling like crazy coaching a player of his playmaking caliber.

Every player had a plus in this game except for Jordan lol. When he was on the floor they were -3. Need a solution for this. He was horrible

I think they talking about dynasty. Imagine that in NY!!!

Were you the one saying you heard Knicks fans on the subway basically saying that they’re rooting for the Nets because “the city” needs a title?

The Nets are already going to have the cachet with the youth, since we have Kyrie, KD, and Harden on the team (...it’s still unbelievable to actually type this out). If this team wins one title, I fully expect a lot of people to start switching allegiances or at the very least switch from being a diehard Knick fan to a fan of both teams.

And I don’t blame them for switching. Dolan and the Knicks organization have done it to themselves! The Nets were the younger brother who they used to always punk because we were in NJ and not NYC. Well, now we’re in NYC and we’ve got arguably the most talented trio in NBA history.

I don’t like predicting things because injuries can always happen and derail the grandest of plans. (GSW experienced this firsthand with Durant and Klay going down in the Finals. If they were healthy, I’m pretty sure they would’ve won.) But we win just one title, the shift in market share will be palpable. If we win multiple, I don’t see how the city doesn’t flip.

But baby steps...I’m just gonna enjoy the process.

If you would’ve told me during the 12-70 season that we’d have 2 perennial MVPs and another star/superstar PG on our team in 2020, I would’ve smacked you. We were praying for the #1 pick and John Wall. Look at us now!!!

Oh, and we still have Joe Harris leading the East in 3pt% and borderline all-star Spencer Dinwiddie who thinks he could be back by June...

Exactly. They about to learn our guys name behind scenes. Their names Joe Tsai and Sean Marks. They care about players and willing to spend.

I mean they’re not wrong but I’m sure he was doing the same over the last 4+ years, so why not jump ship earlier lol? I guess anything to make themselves feel justified in making the move.

If thats the only issue you can come up with than we really have to be in a great place. I'll take that all day everyday. Now let's get KY and Nic back and go from there.

Ha, yup! The rest of the league is praying we implode, praying for us not to gel, because they know it's over as soon as we learn how to bring the best out of each other.

We got 2 legit superstars and still have great roleplayers like Joe Harris and Bruce Brown - even Jeff Green. The defense wasn't great but I have no complaints. We're literally missing an elite guard. Our team has been shaken up a few times already and we look great. I couldn't be happier lol

Legit unfair

There was a point where they were doubling KD and leaving Harden open. This guy was literally getting doubled at half court last year because he was unstoppable 1v1.

Later, KD already had 30+ and they were trapping Harden on PNRs and giving KD space. We already saw this when Kyrie was the main ballhandler but man, what are you supposed to do against these guys? With Harris spacing out in the corner?

It's one thing to be an elite offense in the regular season. It's another to do it with these guys who can cook any type of defense.

I gotta say - his numbers don't jump out the box score but I loved what I saw from Reggie Perry at backup C. I think Claxton is better at that spot but if this guy is our backup, I'm totally fine. He's looked very solid in his 1st 2 games with rotation minutes. He's skilled and strong. Haven't seen many mistakes on either end.

At this point, I want Perry to start instead of DJ. He has way more energy than DJ at least and did catch couple of Harden's passes. DJ is extremely frustrating quite frankly. Even Harden couldn't make him useful with his playmaking (Harden gave him some lobs DJ failed to convert badly). Really hoping to get a new center soon and Clax gets back.
