I can't lie as a NY sports fan. I can't help but feel for some Knick fans who are realistic about that franchise. Deron did some soft sh*t here and never really embraced NY to the media but he also never skipped a game because was home sick or annoyed with a coach.

I fully expect the Knicks to re-sign him to a max contract.

Knicks get out of Noah's contract, while the Clippers unite Anthony with both Griffin and Paul. Knicks would then be able to flip Crawford for an asset or two.

Knicks:
Rose/Jennings
Crawford/Lee/Vujacic
Thomas/Johnson
Porzingas
Jordan/O'Quinn

Clippers:
Paul/Rivers
Redick/Anderson
Anthony/Moute
Griffin/Pierce/Bass
Noah/Speights/Stone

And then Clippers' interior defense goes to hell because Noah is not only washed up but is on a horrible contract

Plus Melo would have to waive his trade kicker. I have yet to see Melo leave money on the table. Clippers imo would be dumb to make that trade.

Phil Jackson did this to himself. He should have offered to initiate a s&t to the Bulls for Melo when he had the chance and got assets in return. Instead he not only maxed melo but gave him a no trade clause which kills any chance at getting assets in return since Melo dictates the destination. Between the Melo fiasco, the Derek Fisher nonsense, all of the crap with Rose and signing Noah to that albatross deal, he seriously should resign. He shouldn't get props for Porzingas falling into his lap.

Yea that trade is horrible for the Clippers. I agree It's going to be real hard for the Knicks to get much assets in return so they probably just trade him for expirings. I can't see Melo still being a Knick after the deadline after everything thats been happening and he looks frustrated out there. You can tell him and Phil don't get along and now NYC media is ALL over it so it can get ugly.

There was one time when Melo gave like 20 million back to the Knicks when they re-signed him, I'll give him that. Phil does need to retire . As much as I feel bad for the Nets, I feel equally as bad for the Knicks.

Should have traded him last year when the kicker had basically no effect due to the smaller cap.

Dennis Schröder is balling!

He is so much better than I thought he'd be. That development in Atlanta was/is huge.

Meanwhile, as a rookie he averaged 3 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound on 38% FG / 29% 3pt shooting, .442 TS% and a 5.8 PER. He's looking like an all star in 3 seasons.

Word around the NBA was that the Hawks got a steal in luring Atkinson from the Knicks as he was one of the first additions when Danny Ferry took over as general manager. Knick owner James Dolan was not happy Atkinson got away.

“He has been awesome for us here in Atlanta,” Korver said. “I think our player development has been second to none the last four years. I think it has been amazing watching guys develop and grow and Kenny leads that.”

“I think it says a lot about Kenny,” Budenholzer said. “He has helped make our program to be what it is. Very happy for him and his family. I think it is a well-deserved opportunity. Knowing Kenny well, he has been a great friend and assistant. (New Nets general manager) Sean Marks is the same, a great friend. I think together those two guys are taking the right steps to build a winning program and winning culture in Brooklyn.”

Jeff Teague and Kent Bazemore both credited Atkinson with helping them succeed in the pick-and-roll game that has become a staple of NBA offenses.

“He is someone who knows the game inside and out,” Teague said. “Someone that loves the game. He really loves basketball. He is always in the gym, first one here every day. He wants someone to win. He is going to bring a different culture to Brooklyn. They are lucky to get a guy like him.”

This is why I have 0 problems with management trading anyone. There is an established track record there. While every player under their direction won't turn to gold, I do believe that we have some of best guys in the NBA for maximizing potential out of players. Even if they decided to trade away RHJ, I'd support the decision and trust that they've made the right move because they've already proven that they can develop players and (for the most part) know which players to gamble on.

If Melo is serious about winning, he'd go to Atlanta. In his most recent podcast Zach Lowe ranted about the Hawks organization internally viewing themselves as players for big free agents (pursuing Chris Bosh a few summers ago, landing Dwight Howard) and recent free agent misses from the front office has bothered its higher ups. It makes sense for the Knicks to try to get a player like Bazemore who still has room to develop playing next to Porzingis, and Melo to join a team with a young PG, and veteran frontcourt in Milsap & Howard.

But, its far more likely for Melo to advocate joining Chris Paul out West so they can catch Ls to the Warriors, Rockets, Spurs, and probably even the Grizzlies before even getting the chance to sniff a conference finals appearance for the rest of his career. :nonono:

Toronto would also be a good destination for Melo.

They'd be super legit if they got him, as long as they don't end up giving away too much. Could even mess around and add Milsap as their FA this summer to form a legit threat to the Cavs in the east

I mentioned this a few weeks back.

Melo has a strong affection for New York. Playing in the Garden is essentially a dream come true for him.

The only way he'd leave is if he were able to play with his friends. He'd rather lose in NY than play for another team (besides LAC, CHI, and CLE ).

If he could get beyond the "NYC, friends, or nothing" preference, he'd do well in sharing the #1-3 duties on a nightly basis in TOR. I'm sure know he's well traveled and that nothing will match the grandeur of NYC but he could always spend his offseasons here. Plus, most NBA cities are pretty nice. I personally like Toronto a lot and feel that It's perfect for single people as well as young families.

The more I watch teams around the league, the more I see how these young big guys have either already surpassed Lopez or are gaining quickly.

I'm glad that he's made a more successful transition to the modern NBA than the Greg Monroes' of the world, but Embiid, Towns, Porzingis, Nokic, Whitesidr and others are all much younger and super talented.

Btw, what happened to Dragan Bender? He's the first player that fit the "We gotta find the next Porzingis" mold. Looks like he needs a ton of development.

I was asking the same exact think like last week but I got to finally see him play on Saturday against the Spurs. It's going to take him a little while, he is only 19, but I like his instincts especially on the defensive side. He knows how to alter shots with his long arms and played a part in beating the Spurs that game. He is a very good 3 point shooter already

I watched a few Suns games and I'm no expert but I'm guessing the best case scenario involves him becoming some kind of 3pt shooting /shot-blocking & rim protecting big that allows the Suns to play GS style, without a legit (traditional) big man in the paint
