I have a feeling we'll end up trying to bring back Plumlee in RFA.

Holiday back to Philly? Cool I guess.

But I do think that such a deal would kill any chance we have at Noel.

hard to say. they do have saric and embid. Noel has said he will only stay in phill for the max, so he wont outright sign with them

would they match a max deal? maybe.

Where did he say that?

I'm not surprised. 11pts 8rebs 1.2 blks 19 PER, + defender. Compare that with Lopez's 20pts 5rebs 1.7 blks 20 PER, - defender. Who has more value in today's league when you need your bigs to rebound, hustle, and defend?

I brought up the idea of bringing Plumlee back a month or two back. He fits the "modern" center mold moreso, i can understand a team trading for him. Plumlee has always been a good player imo, not sure why he got so much flack from Net fans when he was here.

He was also an abysmal free throw shooter

Steve Kyler said that that according to his understanding, it would take a max contract to keep Noel but that's not a direct statement from him. He could very well be correct but in that's how it would play out but I'm hesitant to to accept statements "through the telephone".

A couple of things....

Plumlee was a bad defender, at least when he was here. He was also a very bad free throw shooter as well.

Plumlee actually didn't get a ton of flack when he was here. The only time Plumlee was even looked down upon was when there were arguments that Plumlee was a better center than Brook. Even then, when Brook went down, Plumlee started, and he came out playing well we were all in full support.

The problem with Plumlee was that because he didn't bring anything to the floor offensively besides finishing lobs, his effectiveness as a starter went down as teams started to adjust and made sure that Plumlee would no longer get free rolls to the rim on PnRs. That basically neutered him offensively. We made the switch back to Brook as the starting, who not long after went on a tear himself...and the rest is history.

are we all basing Plumlee's defensive ability of today based on his first two seasons as a Net?

His defense isn't any better in Portland and we had more defensive minded players in Brooklyn with him than in Portland. He just got more polished offensively and developed a passing game. He still is a suspect rim protector but I don't think anyone would complain if we made an offer sheet for him. He's still a better rebounder, passer, shot blocker and finisher than Lopez right now but defense, free throw shooting has always been a red flag for Plumlee. He's shooting 56% from the line this season.

are we basing this off of what we've seen here, or his actual play and numbers in Portland?

Not arguing about his FT, but his defense has picked up since his time as a rookie here.

Lamarcus Aldridge hasn't played well recently, and Parker and Ginobili aren't getting younger.
Most NBA stats aren't credible. At most times the people who interprets those data are biased, or the data themselves are flawed. Basketball is just too complicated with so many uncontrollable variables.

Lol at people who tried to argue against Nikola Jokic being a franchise player.

17 Points, 21 Rebounds, 12 Assists leading Denver to a straight up beat down on GS. He's already better than Porzingis and he is making a legitimate run at Towns and Cousins.

People need to stop being so quick to downplay out of the lottery scouting. Jokic is a 41st pick.

Jokic is a STUD, I've been saying this. I hope to god Marks can nail some late round international picks over the next few seasons, we need to amass a solid base of young domestic and foreign talent.

we also need a top 3 pick in 2019.

I still don't know why Denver traded a 1st rder for Plumlee (who I would gladly take back in a Nets uniform) though.

i think we need to see a bigger sample from jokic but he is at least a cant miss all-star. once he gets more focus and the team is winning if he is still beasting then we can call him a top 5-10 player.

but he looks great right now... and more impressive doing it as far below the rim as we might have ever seen from a 7 footer. those push shots are money like brook but from all angles

The Nuggets were lottery bound earlier in the season. They are 25-30 right now holding a commanding 2 game lead over Portland for 8th.The kid is forreal.

Denver even has a long term PF to compliment him. Juanco Hernangomez > Willy Hernangomez.

Keep in mind, our GM decision came down to Sean Marks or Arturas Karnisovas. Karnisovas handles the Nuggets international scouting department.
