Damn.

I guess...

OTOH, from the body of stuff I've heard & read, dude sounds like he's been a toxic, unapologetic a-hole for many years now.

Now granted, all that might amount to a steaming load (it's been known to happen), but at the same time... character matters. Time and time again, character matters IMO.

Yeah I've heard the same that John Wall is a complete toxic, out of shape ass hole. Is it any surprise that WAS actually plays better with him gone?

Ever since that time he tried to son Bradley Beal and call him his sidekick I knew the dude was no good. Who would want to play with someone that egotistical?

Also, not that I am happy that he hurt himself, but I remember earlier this season when that prick hard fouled Spencer in mid air intentionally because he was all in his feelings. Karma is a bitch.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but could the 76ers have used all the assets they’ve traded away for Butler and Harris to get AD?

The haul: Covington, Saric, Bayless, Shamet, Chandler and Muscala (wouldn’t need all those guys, Pels pick and choose) plus 2 firsts including Miami’s unprotected and 3 seconds.

Is that enough to get AD? Maybe. Is having AD better than Butler and Harris? Yes. Interesting times.

Now granted I'm a pretty casual follower of the association these days, but I don't understand the Sixers' plan very well. To wit...

If the Sixers' primary need was bench depth, and if Simmons and Embiid already presented some integration issues such that they were best surrounded by complementary guys, then: was adding Butler really a good idea? Because by doing so, they seemed to magnify some of their existing problems, while creating a new problem in the need to split the ball up even further. And now I would guess it's happening yet again with Harris.

Not to mention, with the potential for Harris to walk in the offseason, and with Jimmy's naturally somewhat volatile nature, it just seems... vaguely Billy King / Prokhorov-ish to me. "Win big now, and take on loads of future risk."

Other than Porzy, who the Knicks wouldn't deal to us even if they did their due diligence, there aren't any deals that I would have wanted the Nets to get in on. Maybe Tobias Harris but that cost a decent rookie, 2 FRPs, 2 SRPs and expirings as filler. For a potential rental. Yikes. Our current goals are shed salary for FA AND acquire a starting caliber 4/consolidate talent (whilst preserving cap space). That's a hard line to walk unless you're looking to throw out a FRP with Crabbe.

Yup... im 100% with you on this:

1) Knicks will never make a trade for us, especially dealing their unicorn franchise player to us.

2) I would have love to bring in Tobias Harris, but the Sixers REALLY overpaid or a rental. If we want him go sign him. We are not in a position to rent anyone. Yes we are a playoff team but this is still just year 3 of a 6 year rebuild and us being well ahead of the timeline is a sign we should keep doing whats worked, not throw away assets for short sighted win now moves. If we had dealt our pick and the denver pick for Harris id be upset. Still think we would be a top 2 or 3 destination for him, some think we are front runners

3) Randle doesnt fit here and would be either a rental or a guy eating up our offseason cap at a position we dont need and already have Allen playing at a high level on a rookie deal. Randle is an upgrade to Davis, but Davis isnt an issue. Like Faried, Randle is not a PF in this system. Similar with Bobby Portis... i love portis as a 23 year old stretch 5 who is tough inside and throws his weight around, but we are all set at center short and long term.

4) Otto porter. No. no the first, no now. dont repeat the crabbe mistake. im not sure he is an upgrade to what we have hear anyhow.

Everyone else is either not realistic (anthony davis) or doesnt help us short or long term or any better then what we have (Vucevic, mirotic, Harrison Barnes, etc...)

I'm glad if we stay put... it means marks is smart and looking at the next 20 years of this franchise not just the next 20 days.

I don't know why I'm getting this feeling that the Nets are going to trade for Dario Saric...

D'Angelo Russell needs to send Magic Johnson a basket of fruit and a nice card as a token of appreciation for trading him to the Nets.
