Ok so what do we like on CHA, IND, SAC, LAL?
IND is easy, if they could get Walker, Mathurin, or Nembhard it's a no brainer.
If a deal was going to happen with SAC, you would think #13 would have been part of it. They already gave up their 2025 FRP so their next tradeable firsts are 26/27/28. 2 of those unprotected certainly gets things started. VCP guessed yesterday Nets ask was probably #13 + and unprotected in future, and I'd stay that's probably correct.
Hornets are a weird one. Tre Mann? Mark Williams? Nick Smith?
Same report had LAL interested, that's got to be JHS + picks? Maybe Vanderdbilt or Hachimura?

No idea, but give me a bidding war for the amazing services of...Cam Johnson.

Re: Official ‘24-25 Off-season Thread
Some very thin “rumor” out there that the trade is likely to be expanded, with at least one of DFS/Cam J/Sharpe included, additional players or picks coming back our way.
Some bozo on twitter saying his friends he played college and aau ball with now work for the Nets.
Probably total bs, but you never know.

Carter and the ‘27 pick?
Do it.

My guess is that's what the Nets were looking for and SAC passed on it, at least for now.

Does it say anymore details? I'd love to know if we got deuce from the Knicks or something like that.

This list is pretty much the case. I'd advocate for a few changes though:
1.) I think Cam Thomas should be added to the "Nets" category. I think the Nets would deal him if they got a good offer, I just don't see that offer coming realistically. I believe he is worth more to the Nets than any other team.
2.) Watford I'd move to the "Probably Nets" category. He showed promise in the minutes he got last year and unless he regressed during this off-season or is thoroughly outplayed by some of these undrafted rookies, I think it's a pretty safe bet he'll be back on the team.
3.) I'd drop Bogdanvic to "probably not nets". He is the oldest player on the team by far and I'm under the impression the nets didn't pursue him from the Knicks, he was only needed for salary. He's an expiring deal also so hopefully he wouldn't be that hard to move off.

No real disagreements. Bogdonovic is hurt so im just doubting anyone will trade for him. He could be filler in a trade, but what trade are the nets making that includes assets on top of him to bring something back? maybe they use him as an expiring to eat someone else's bad contract with assets attached. idk. I just think he's probably a Net until they trade him at deadline or buy him out.

I think you take out the "probably" category and rearrange a few from the "maybe" category.
nets
1. claxton (resigned, definitely here)
2. clowney (year 2 continue to develop)
3. whitehead (year 2 continue to develop)
4. wilson (year 2 continue to develop)
5. cam thomas (homegrown hero, let him explore his game even further this year)
6. ben10 (no matter what we wish, I think he's going to finish the year with us. Do NOT want to send him away with picks attached)
maybe nets?
7. sharpe (would like to keep)
8. schroder (would like to keep, maybe sell near deadline?)
9. watford (either way i'm fine with what they do with him)
10. bates-diop (meh)
probably not nets... by the 2025 trade deadline at the latest
11. cam j (make sure we get max value on him! I think Marks will capitalize when the market is right)
12. dfs (give me at least a 1st, somewhere on the timeline)
13. bogdonovic (no clue what his value is now, but I'm pretty sure he'll get traded to a contender if 100% healthy... but don't take on more salary if we can avoid it)
I think that's probably where 99% of us want the Nets to be??? thoughts?
I think dream scenario would be (to get in return for those 3 guys) to:
1. land a young PG that can develop here over the next year (or at least be the PG of the next 5 years)
2. another 2025 pick
3. to get our 2027 pick back from Houston
4. If not #2 or #3, get picks in the 2026 and 2028 drafts
**5. to not see any of our picks go out the door.

Great point, I completely forgot he was hurt to start the season. No one is trading for a 35 year old coming off injury like that without seeing him play first. So unless he used for salary filler in a bigger deal like you said, he'll be on the team. Hopefully the team can flip him at the deadline for a very small asset. But if I had to put money on it, I'm guessing he gets bought out at some point this season

I like your categories better and agree with them.
re #1, I agree, just depends what's offered out there. CamJ seems like the best path to getting some kind of quality rookie contract player, Nembhard would be amazing. Anthony Black would be great. Tre Mann and picks would be at least interesting, and possibly the most realistic (CHA fans on mainboard said they'd do Mann + an FRP).
2 & 3 I don't think are so important as priorities. They already have 4 in 2025, and that's already a lot of roster spots. Maybe they will let both Sharpe/CamT walk and Ben expire, and want to maintain a ton of cap space, and Schroder/DFS traded, but hard to see all of those things happening. And even if they did with Clowney, Whitehead, Wilson, CamJ or whatever player Camj returns, Claxton, they are still 9 roster spots if they make all 4 picks with like a lot of money to spend to be compliant. by 2027 draft they should be generally out of being bottom 5, and if that's the case there's a far greater chance of a pick out of the top 5 than in it.
they wont entirely have their choice because some teams like LAL only have certain year's picks available to trade, but if they trade with a team who has choice i think we will see them prioritize 26/27/28 picks to balance out their stash. obviously with as few protections as possible, so if a team is more willing to do fewer protections on a 29/30/31 i think they will take that.

Seems Dallas now a destination more likely open for DFS now than before. Maybe even CamJ. They are trying to offer DJJ as much as they can of their MLE, and he's the type of player it wouldn't surprise me to see the nets go after.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that Bogie injury too. Yeah I bet he's going to stay with the team as he rehabs. He should have some value toward the trade deadline hopefully, but if he stays with us as an expiring deal, then so be it. Would rather not take on any extra salary.

Re: Official ‘24-25 Off-season Thread
Maybe something or maybe nothing but it looks like today is the day Bogs' contract gets fully guaranteed.

Would think with his injury most would prefer to just dump him and save as much as possible under lux tax for other things, however w/ CBA it's not quite that simple.
As part of the still pending trade, a certain amount has to convert to guaranteed $ to make the trade compliant on the Knicks end, though if the knicks add additional salary going out as they are trying to do so they dont get hardcapped i believe that would lower the amount of money that triggers being guaranteed by the trade. So in theory today could be something of a deadline for the trade if the intention for anyone was to basically get rid of bogdonovic before his full salary turned guaranteed.
im not positive on the rules, but let's say knicks found a 3rd team to take mitch robinson's $14m today, i think that would then get the nets bogdonovic with less of his deal guaranteed and maybe with the ability to get rid of him at pretty close to just the $2m guarantee. they arent going to be big spenders so it probably doesnt matter a ton either way, except that in an ideal world there's probably a better way to spend $18m this year than on Bogs injured.

not gonna lie im getting myself pretty far down the road on the tre mann hype train. acquired from OKC at the deadline and put into the starting lineup with Ball out, now he's going to get stuck behind him again.
Charlotte has new GM and supposedly one of the teams interested in CamJ. plenty of FRPs to trade including Miami and Dallas in 2027. Mann and a FRP sound like a good deal to me.

So, the roster stands at:
Schroeder / Simmons
Thomas / Bojan / J. Martin (2 way)
Johnson / Wilson / K. Johnson. (2 way)
Clowney / DFS
Clax / Sharpe
DSJ, Lonnie Walker, Watford all free agents. Watford is nearly a lock to return.

I definitely wouldn't mind if the nets went this route. But I'd still love to pull Topic or Wallace from the Thunder. That's my ideal scenario, followed by Jaden Ivey from the Pistons. In your scenario, is that first rounder the hornets trade protected at all?
