Re: Official Nets Trade Spculation Thread
It really is dependent on if Joe is tradable(think he should be for a more defensive core piece. Wing that’s size appropriate and switchable. Or a paint protector as the perimeter defense is never gonna be isolation great, so at least we can lock up the paint a more. We also scheme pretty well.)
Also if we are using the TPE’s. We have two that fit right into high rotation players salaries. Starters.
Either way I’m hoping for a starting traditional defensive center with high Defensive rebounding percentage. A backup of the same ilk. Of course more 3&D wings.
Would package Joe and whatever else for the core member.
Would use the TPE’s on 3&D wings. Either 2 or split the 11.3 for 3.
Carter and Brown would either for a backup center or another 3&D depending if Sharpe had to be moved along the way. It would suck but nowhere near as bad as not having 48 minutes of defensive rebounding and spacing come playoff time. The future is only as along as we have Durant-Harden-Kyrie(contract length and amount Joe should be always mentioned with them and he’s not).
It really does suck we walked into the season with this roster. I never seen a Big3 have such an ill fitting support cast around them. Individually good players but designed only if literally everything is going ideally. If Blake and Paul regain their 3ball while no defense or rebounding concerns are remotely answered Bruce/Bembry/Nic/Johnson all suddenly look great. But what type of team brings in multiple role players that need other role players to perform? Not off stars but other role players.

Marks almost never make inseason moves. I hope it's not the case this year. I hope we'll get late 1st or couple early 2nd round picks for TPE, Carter and Sapp. Addition by subtraction at it best.

Re: Official Nets Trade Spculation Thread
Marks needs to get us another shooter. Kyrie has f*cked every thing up and the roster contruction is terrible. We should not be relying on 4 rookies to keep us afloat.

Use the TPE to get another shooter. Or sign one off the trade market.
Its painfully obvious we need more spacing. And none of these rookies are reliable enough.
Marks has just been sitting around idly when its clear we need to make a change. Even with Harris/Kyrie back we don't have enough shooting.

Every teams wants more shooting. If it could be had cheap, marks would have taken it by now. Most role shooters now make decent money. 10-20 million a year. its tough for us to match salary on that. We can use the TPE's to manuever using 2 trades, but we would then need to find assets in pick/low salary player form, which we dont really have.
We arent trading the 1 first we can deal for a role shooter. Maybe we trade Cam Thomas. I love what the rookies have done but their value is probably not there.
Which leaves us more to the minimum salary scrap heap types. Who you can probably do better on with the buyout market. We also likely get Harris back this month and the team seems confident kyrie will be playing full time at some point.
Harris + Kyrie is a pair of top 10 high volume/high percentage snipers. thats going to help more then any trade marks can make

Re: Official Nets Trade Spculation Thread
The roster contruction was fine. there was no reason to think:
Mills/Milsap/Carter
would match at least 75-90% of the shooting Shamet/Green/TJ would have given us this year.
Find a competant 3rd string PG and somsone who should have given us what milsap did.
I mean at the end of the day we have:
Harden - top 5 all time in makes, very good on high volume
Kyrie - Top 10, 40%+ on high volume
Harris - top 3, close to 50% on high volume
KD - Best stretch big in the NBA... maybe ever
Mills - Top 20 three point shooter, close to 40% on high volume
Carter - came in as above league average from three
Milsap - better career/last 5 years from deep vs. green
Blake - above avg from 3 for a center, was good last year
Honestly, Milsap/Carter have been awful and blake regressed. We have 4 of the most elite three point shooters in the league + Mills. It is our depth that has let us down and its cheap depth that is easily replaced. Edwards can likely give us what Milsap should have.
We really just need another minimum type PG who shoots to his career averages. 3 and D wings be had without giving up Harris, which doesnt help our overall shooting.
Looking at potential shooting options via trade, its real thing for what we could afford.
Maybe the spurs give up forbes who is a free agent at years end for claxton or Cam?
Soem seconds for garret temple?
Justin Holiday is a name thrown around?
Isiaah thomas is a free agent. Jamal Crawford is looking to come back. those are the "free" names and they arent any worse then the names we could trade for. I dont think Marks is doing anything wrong by waiting to see what materialized vs. giving up any of the very few assets we have left for minimal upgrade when harris andor kyrie will be back soon

Plenty of minimum guys who can shoot decent.
I would welcome Tyler Johnson or TLC back at this point.
Carter should be traded or waived.

Tyler Johnson is the same boat as Thomas and Crawford. His 10 day deal expires tomorrow and he is unlikely to be brought back from the spurs who are returning guys from COVID.
That is kind of my point. Marks shouldnt be rushing out to trade the few assets we have left when similar talent is available to sign off the streets. It makes much more sense to see what opportunities arise as we get closer to the deadline and see how it goes once harris is back and more games with Kyrie.
No need to throw seconds, a 1st. a TPE for some end of bench guy who wont play much if harris solved the problem, in 2 weeks.
TLC... i mean, i dont see TLC solving anyones problems or making anything better.

What exactly is the point of holding on to the TPE?
Don't we need to use or it lose it anyway.
If some team is looking for salary relief we can easily use Carter's contract + TPE.

Using the TPEs mean a LOT more luxury tax. You don't use them for significant salary unless it's for a definite rotation player. You also have to include something (e.g. at least a fake 2nd or draft stash rights) with the TPE. The TPE just allows you to not match salary.
Batum is a guy that really makes sense to me. Small contract, smart. veteran presence solid all around skill including defense & range. If the Clippers are really viewing this year as a gap year & looking to trim a bit, I would definitely target him.

He is better waiting until the deadline to see who may shake free. Clippers are a perfect example, turned into sellers with the PG injury.

Re: Official Nets Trade Spculation Thread
How about Dwight Howard?
He would be massive defensively vs the bigs in the East.I donot think any of our current centers would be as effective as him in the playoffs.
Milsap + some cash should do it?

He is good enough and cheap enough where id assume someone would offer more then TPE + 2nds + Duke Jr. level prospect
but yeah id take him for sure

Watch the Nets Vs LA game before the tip off. They had a little interaction which never happened before.
Anyways, if they feel the need to get him, they would. Harden and him are now cool.

Re: Official Nets Trade Spculation Thread
TJ is a great end of the bench guy. Not sure why he's only getting 10 days.
Hard to nab a shooter right now when everyone wants shooting. Any team willing to give one up is looking for a FRP attached.... maybe... MAYBE cap relief if it's a cheap ass losing team (Rockets, Pacers, etc). If you look up and down the list of players averaging 2 3PM on +35%, not many of those guys are available and the ones that are like Harrison Barnes are gonna cost a pretty penny. Heck even Justin Holiday is probably out of our price range and also unavailable.
